A nice little boardwalk adjacent to Lake Pontchartrain. Went on a weekday, not too busy. There are steps near the edge of the boardwalk to sit that are close to the water. There are seafood restaurants nearby. 4 stars because I thought there would be more to see like a lake pier boardwalk or something lol.

The lake is such a staple in New Orleans. It can range from a meet up spot, a place to clear your mind, a place to have various celebrations hosted. I personally love coming to watch the sunset. The benches are plentiful, it's spacious for bike riders and walkers. Plenty of playground areas and even areas for those who choose to swim and ride jet skis. You can always spot fishers out and sailers sailing back and forth on the lake. It's a wonderful place. You also feel safe knowing the levee police are patrolling and every now and again a NOPD officer is riding around. On Sunday's you can get a glimpse of luxury cars and some old school classics as owners meet up to show off they're cars.

I love the lakefront here. It may not be the cleanest lake but with the ease of access, miles of walk/bike paths, restaurants, and picturesque views of sunrises and sunsets this is one of my favorite places in the city. Many locals have spent a lot of time on the lakefront just hanging out with friends. When I was in college at UNO we would always be at the lakefront before and after classes. If you have never been here you should check it out. The path alone is worth the visit and goes from Kenner to New Orleans. As you can tell from all the pictures I take of the lakefront I kind of love being there.

I enjoy taking walks here as it is relaxing to walk near and hear the waves. It is such a peaceful area and because the Lake is so big, it reminds me of being at the ocean. My favorite thing to do here is watch the gorgeous sunsets. A lot of families sit at the picnic areas and enjoy meals together, I even see occassional birthday parties and other celebrations. People walk their dogs, people fish, and some fly kites. You could just sit and do nothing and it is amazing. In the distance, planes fly in and out from Lakefront Airport. Sailboats are out and about, somedays there are too many to count! Also, the last year or so they have really fixed it up....adding new trees, sidewalks and benches. You can literally drive along the lake until you find just the right spot for you.

One of my favorite bike routes from the French Quarter is head out toward City Park and take Wisner Trail and ride along Bayou St. John to the Lakefront. Once you arrive you feel the breeze, access to bathrooms and the wonderful water views. I do wish they had some drinking fountains though. Lots of places to picnic, relax or visit one of the restaurants or the Mardi Grad Fountain. If you continue across the 17th st canal you have a dedicated path the lakefront trail. Then on my return back I go back thru city park and enjoy another of New Orleans scenic areas. Obviously you don't have to access the lakefront by bike to enjoy it. You can drive and park and walk as well. Although during Covid much of the drive has been closed to automobile traffic making biking to be lakefront area that much more appealing for bikers.

The Lakefront is a place that I grew up coming to. It is the part of New Orleans that feels closer to a beach vibe than what you get on the river side of things. From the restaurants, to the volleyball courts, and the houses with boat slips underneath. It is a very relaxing part of the city to come to and listen to the waves and watch boats come by.Growing up, you were able to drive along the entire lakefront all the way to the Lakefront airport. But since Katrina I don't think that route has been fully opened and not sure if they are planning on it being. Currently, they are working on the main pier and can't be accessed even though we tried. We walked around the shoreside after eating dinner nearby. My kids loved seeing the boats and couldn't wave to them enough. A lot of this place is nostalgia. But it is a nice spot of New Orleans that a ton of people don't see.

The lakefront is perfect for family gatherings, picnics and hanging out with friends. There are various picnic tables and shelters to claim. If you have your fishing license, you can fish right off of the lake steps. People also set crab traps in the lake. There is also a path for bikers. This is also the perfect place to come fly a kite. No wires!

Such a beautiful shady area here with lots of picnic tables and covered areas where you could have picnic for free with your family and friends there is playground equipment for the kiddos to play on. There is lots of space to get out and have some fun and throw a frisbee or ball around with your kids, friends or mans best friend your dog. I also noticed a few large covers areas with bathrooms and picnic tables they rent out them out they call them Shelters but would be great for company or family crawfish boils or picnic get togethers. With playground areas for the little to play and across the busy street is the Lake with lots of benches and walking paths it very beautiful it's a gorgeous place to just sit and relax in the sun. I'm not sure if you can fish from there but I didn't see any no fishing here.I only gave 4 stars because of the super busy hwy and the fact you have to pay for the use of the big covered area. It may be just me but at a public park those shelters should be free on a first come basis. Maybe put a clean up deposit so they don't have to come clean up people's messes there. But this is a beautiful place to spend the day so get out and have some family fun
