I love hand blown glass items and New Orleans Glassworks has some very unusual pieces. Some are gallery worthy works of art and others are simply stunning curios or gifts, like vases with stunning floral scenes. None of the pieces had prices on them and there wasn't much in the way of staff to help. I was tempted to buy something but was leery of schlepping it a long distance over multiple trips. I also didn't have anyone available to ask.

I took a 4 week class and I'm obsessed. Can't wait to sign up for the next class. The instructor was patient and had a great attitude. Always wanted to make sure we were getting what we wanted out of the class.

Wonderful glass blowing gallery located near the WW2 museum in the business area of New Orleans. I have been fascinated by glass blowing after first being introduced to it a few years back in Italy, and I always tend to seek out new galleries if a city I visit has one. With that said, this studio has a spectacular shop filled with glass work from various local artists who have blown the glass on site. You can either take in the breathtaking artwork or admire one of the live classes in the back for free! Now to participate in some of the classes, it does come with a fee, but assuming from the professional artwork around and the kind staff, I could not see how it would not be a win win. I cannot comment on the cost for the classes, as I forgot to ask, but judging from the many reviews, it sounds like they have quite a few. I'd suggest visiting their website and or calling ahead and chatting with some of the wonderful employees behind the counter!Make sure to add this to your bucket list while in New Orleans if its up your alley as it will not disappoint!

I've not taken any classes here, so I'm just reviewing the gallery space. And let me tell you, the gallery space is gorgeous! And sort of terrifying to a clumsy person like me. There are amazing glass sculptures as well as smaller ornament type items and handmade wine glasses and the like. There are also prints and paper art but that's maybe 10% of what's on display.Gorgeous work and lovely place to find a special gift or piece of art.

You know that bad boy ex boyfriend that's edgy and dreamy, but treats you like crap and cusses out your parents? Yeah that's this place in a nutshell. Everyone from the obnoxious front desk lady to the glassblowing "artist" was straight up rude. We walk in and the lady In the front desk immediately yelled a bunch of orders including "Don't touch anything" and "wear your backpack on the front of your body not the back". She capped off her tirade with "you break it you buy it". At one point she darted across the room to yell at a poor unsuspecting young lady for taking pictures (every other Gallery on the street has no problem with pics). Save yourself an uncomfortable situation and just avoid this hot mess express.BTW...if there are no pics allowed then how the heck does Yelp have all these pics lady?

Shockingly poor customer service. I filled out their "contact us" form to ask if group events had to be scheduled during business hours, or if they could occur in the evening. The form required a phone number, but I try to avoid giving out my number to reduce telemarketing. Instead of answering my question, I received three (poorly written) emails berating me for not filling out the form correctly. In the time it took to send one of those emails, this person could have said "Yes, they can be scheduled in the evenings," or "No, they must occur during business hours". Instead, the third response I got told me to take my business elsewhere... Which I will be doing.

Our family of 6 signed up for the Wine + Design Class and had an absolutely wonderful time. The instructors were knowledgeable, friendly, and most important, patient. After explanations and help from the instructors, we made various items such as whiskey glasses, bowls, art glass, and a wine glass. This was all done with the instructor's constant watchful eyes for safety. We signed up for a two-hour class. However, our instructors were in no hurry to end the class. We finished our projects in about 2-1/2 hours. We were not charged extra. We had to leave our projects in the oven overnight for the glass to temper. A few days later they shipped our glass projects directly to us. Nothing was damaged in the shipping. However, they did charge us extra for the actual shipping cost only (very fair).I would highly recommend this class for something unusual to learn. My wife proudly displays her bowl in our home.Important, bring sun glasses.

I've actually never been inside this store. I tried to get information about a printmaking class they were offering -- there was a sign saying when and where but nothing else. Why would anyone spend time and money on a class without knowing if the person teaching the class has some credibility. I called the store and got a flippant reply that they had 1 of his prints in the window?! One. That was apparently the extent of his CV.In that same conversation I was told that part of the course fee included the purchase of tools. I already have high-quality tools, but was told me that I had to email pictures of my tools. Getting everything out, taking photos and sending them was a bit of a pain, but I did it. They never bothered to respond to my email. How can they rudely turn away so many people and still stay in business?

The gallery has so many beautiful hand blown items and the artists in house can do special orders for customers.I found the owner Jean to be enchanting. She has been an artist all her life and has many talents- but her specialty is glass and she has trained with world renowned glass blowers.Learning how to blow glass was one of my highlights on my recent trip to New Orleans. A must do!
