I planned to do this tour a couple of years ago, but bad weather canceled those plans. This time I made sure to squeeze it in, and I am so glad I did. We rode one of the smaller fanboats, and the captain was entertaining and quite informative. We saw the alligators, up close, our guide feeding them marshmallows etc. This was expected, but the highlight for me was the explanation of the effects of climate change on the swamp. The thin, "floating" soil, how it moves with currents and hurricane swells, the assured eventual demise of the area as the Gulf claims more and more acreage, and the effect of habitat loss on the animals, was all very interesting. We made stops to see a bald eagle's nest, a spot where natural gas was bubbling up, and an abandoned structure damaged by hurricane. This was a great tour. We only saw alligators, lots of them, terns, bald eagles, and evidence of past gas drilling. The only thing I felt was missing were the trees and low hanging moss, the more mysterious visuals, often depicted in other advertisements for swamp tours. We were picked up at our hotel in NOLA, and arrived at the swamp site about 15 minutes later. It's easily doable in a few hour window.

Great tour experience with Captain Matt/Small boat tour. Was a little concerned with the cooler/morning weather that the alligator sightings were going to be slim to nil but we saw plenty. Lots of birds- even a couple of bald eagles.Captain Matt was super knowledgeable about the flora and fauna. Very engaging and answered all the questions the kids on our tour threw him. Would totally recommend this tour. Not a far drive from downtown New Orleans.Ample parking, clean porta potties, small coolers for drinks you bring - likely good for a hot day. Don't forget your camera!

Highly recommended! We were on a small air boat with captain Kurt. The ride itself was fun with lots of stops to discuss the landscape, inhabitants and history. Our guide was very knowledgeable and we saw lots of gators.

We planned this semi-last minute and didn't know what to expect because of the weather and time of year. The tour turned out to be a really excellent experience! Captain Matt and his knowledge of the bayou and it's creatures were really enoyable. We rode on the smaller boat, saw lots of gators and birds, and learned a lot about the ecosystem. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone considering it!

The tour was amazing - we saw so many alligators! Captain Kurt/Myles was so knowledgeable and we learned so much about alligators and the bayou in general. We even got to hold a baby alligator! I'd been on two other swamp tours and this one surpassed the others. Highly highly recommend.

What a FUN time! Captain Matt is absolutely hilarious and super knowledgeable about the gators, land, and history. Super impressed and so glad I got to get this in while visiting friends. The small boat tour had 8 of us plus the captain, and we all were able to get a close up look at several gators! It was a really fun and chill vibe, always felt safe, and the time really flew by. (I wish I had brought some tissues because my eyes were watering when we picked up speed around the main tour, but man, did that breeze feel so good!) Highly, highly recommend. Thank you!

This tour is a MUST if you are visiting New Orleans! New Orleands Airboat Tours came highly recommended and all the reviews here on Yelp stand true. We were visiting NOLA for a bachelorette party and the reservation process was super easy over the phone for a private party. Just a tip that the airboat fits 10 people and if you have less than 10 people you'll have to pay for the extra seats if you want a private tour. Transportation is provided to and from the tour for an additional fee and it was so worth it, they were able to pick us up at our air bnb. We were also allowed to bring canned drinks and coolers were provided and prepped with ice! Our Captain was Cameron and he was super easy going and knowledgeable. He taught us about the land and it's history while keeping it fun. We will definitely be back with more friends and family in the future!
