I went to Murphy's for the first time years ago. I think I was on a date. Considering it's a Westbank bar, it's really not a bad place. They have a pretty diverse beer selection on tap, pool tables and dart boards. They also have a really cool internet juke box, so you can play any kind of song that you like. The bartenders are always friendly and the atmosphere is laid back.My only complaint is that the smoke in here is out of this world, so it's not a place that I would frequent, because of that.

Murphy's is a West Bank bar located in a strip mall. While many would consider that a bad thing, it does have its redeeming qualities. In fact, now that I think about it, most West Bank bars are in strip malls. After a long night out a friend wanted to stop at Murphy's. I had never been, and am always up to try new places, so I agreed. Inside there are several pool tables, regular tables, a jukebox and a machine to test your punch. We grabbed a seat at the bar and were immediately greeted by the bartender. I was amazed at their selection of beers. Sure it is called the brew house, but other WB bars I have tried have been pretty limited in their selection. The jukebox is an internet connected one, so you can pick pretty much any music. The crowd was fairly friendly. One drunk patron did want a group hug in honor of Whitney Houston, but other than that, no weirdness took place. If you are looking for a WB bar that is open all the time, and has a great beer selection, check out Murphy's.

Nice little neighborhood dive bar that naturally caters to service industry workers. Surprisingly, they have cheap draft prices featuring about a dozen beers on tap. Friendly bartenders, interesting regulars, pool tables, darts, punching machine, jukebox, and video poker - requisites for having a good time. The laminated collage of humor on the bar top at Murphy's may be the most unique in all the city (worth checking out)Spend more than 30 minutes here...ya dun been Westbanked!

It's a really cool dive bar with plenty of pool tables. The staff is very friendly and I got to meet some pretty cool locals while simultaneously getting shit faced. They have touch tunes which lets you play your own music which is pretty cool.

If you don't smoke, be prepared to second hand smoke at least 2 packs the first hour you are here. It looks like a fog machine is constantly running in here. You can smell the smoke on the street when you drive by. Drinks are reasonable prices and the people are pretty nice, but damn man... air the place out

This is one of the first bars that my fiance introduced me to when I moved here, because it's one he has been going to for years. It's not really anything special. They have $0.50 pool tables, drink specials, a good variety of beers, and a jukebox. It's a nice place to grab a drink and shoot some pool, if you live on the Westbank and don't feel like escaping to New Orleans.

We were looking for a nice bar to shoot darts with decent drink selection. This was that bar for the Westbank. The bartender was fantastic and made some kinda rum drink for the ladies that was red and had malibu & bacardi and they loved 'em. The gents acquired reasonably priced pitchers of Abita Amber all night and it was just the right cold and fresh.3 Dart boards and a few pool tables. Plenty of space for both, and there was some bar seating as well as a couple small tables. While the bathrooms weren't state of the art, they do get style points for having converted kegs for urinals in the mens room, :D.As noted by another reviewer, the jukebox is net connected, which is a good & bad thing, someone was having a sad night (V Day was the night we were here) and were playing a list that would make a clown cry.Great bar & fun, will be coming here frequently.

Will definitely be coming back here! Thank you fellow Yelpers! We weren't ready to go home after work and dinner last night (Thursday) and didn't want to cross the bridge. Somewhere cheap to have a beer and play some pool where no one will bother us or try to win the table. I should clarify that by play I really mean practice - we have a slatron table at home that we can play well on, but it's SO different from slate that we're embarrassed playing at bars with our friends because we're too used to our own table. We were definitely the youngest ones here, and the bartender carded us because, and I quote, "I don't know you," which probably means most of the crowd are regulars. She was nice about it, and seemed apologetic that she needed to ask (per New Orleans custom, almost all local bartenders that card young-looking people apologize in the process). We each got a beer and I told her we would like to each take a shot, but that I didn't want something rough - did she have anything fruity? Soco or something easy to down? She suggested the dollar Jolly Rancher shots - I was a little worried because the one I had at Napoleon's Itch was green and I hate apple-flavored anything, but accepted the shots. They were DELICIOUS. Really, I could have slow sipped it. She made sure we enjoyed them and told us the bar makes them from rum and melted down Jolly Ranchers. It didn't give me a "whoosh" like I get from a regular shot, but I wasn't really looking for one, so it worked out fine. Our beers were cold, and the bill was $7.50, so $2.25/beer and $1/shot. Not bad. We played two rounds of pool on the 50 cent tables (there were 4-5 tables) and headed home when we were done. The bartender had to make quarters for our dimes and nickels for the second game and didn't seem put off by it, which was sweet. All-in-all, a good night! =)
