Honestly the most underrated spot on St Charles - the service is phenomenal and you'll feel like family here- I'm comfortable coming alone and sitting at the bar with a few of the regulars - I always meet good people and have a wonderful experienceMy go-tos: fried green tomato stack (shrimps on top!), crawfish pies, char grilled oysters (on Happy Hour!) and whatever the Hapoy Hour cocktail is- but last time I ordered the king cake martini (special/seasonal) and it was one of the best I've had in this town (and only $10!)You can't beat this spot (and all Mr Ed's are not the same so come to this one)

I had eaten a full breakfast right before I arrived here and let me tell you - the food is so good, I still managed to share 2 1/2 diesen oysters (and a cup of gumbolaya) my friends. The iced raw, chargrilled and southwest oysters were my favorite!! Rockefeller never fails and Bienville were ok. Great flavor and texture. The gumbolaya was sooo good. I like a lot of rice in my gumbo and the jumbalaya gave extra extra flavor. Our server Liz was awesome and efficient!! She kept our waters and drinks filled, our table clean and just very friendly and fun. I saw some fish go by for another table and it looked really good. I definitely want to come back to this spot again.

We stopped here after attending the New Orleans Saints game for lunch before driving home. We were greeted and seated as soon as we walked in. Service was awesome.Crawfish bread was great and is always a good choice for an appetizer. Lots to choose from on the menu but i heard they had pretty good fried chicken and i really wanted som fried shrimp and fish so the fried platter had it all with a side of jambalaya. I also had a cup of gumbolaya to start. Everything was great. Didnt like the jambalaya as was a creole jambalaya with red sauce. Not a louisianans favorite..Definitely worth trying out if you are in the garden district of New Orleans.

Wanted to try some charbroiled oysters and this place had them on happy hour. As we walked in we were immediately greeted and seated. This place is not fancy and reminds me of an everyday bar and grill. The happy hour reflects as much which is great. Our server, Amber, was outstanding and is deserving of 5 stars alone. The oysters were really good along with the crawfish bread. The PoBoy was our first ever so nothing to compare it to. However it was very tasty. If you're in the area this place is worth a try.

The moral of this review story is that there were high highs and low lows when it came to the food which was unexpected (& made me sad bc I just knew this was going to be a home run). The highs = the mouthwatering crawfish beignets & delectable crawfish bread appetizers The lows = the stuffed peppers and baked macaroni special of the day and the overcooked and under seasoned Cajun pasta Service also had highs and lows. The server's friendliness and patience were highs but the speed of service (when it wasn't busy) was a low.All in all probably wouldn't revisit this location.

This place was so good I went here twice in 2 days. Highly recommend coming here during happy hour. They have great drink, raw and charbroiled oyster specials. The charbroiled oysters are a must! You can see them being repaired right when you enter. The etouffe, crab cafe pasta and jambalaya are also great options. The ambience here is perfect for small to large parties. If you want to a catch a game they have high tables at the bars as well. The staff here are so attentive. We were greeted within seconds and the team overall work really well here. Food comes out quickly, dirty plates cleared and drinks are constantly being refilled. This location has plenty of street parking and closer to a residential neighborhood.

I was at Barrel Proof a few blocks away looking for dinner. I was on day 4 of walking a thousand miles a day so I wanted something in close proximity. Hopped on trust Yelp, typed in gumbo and Mr. Ed's came up. I know there's a location in the CBD/French Quarter and I might even have it bookmarked but I've not tried that location yet and I didn't know about this location at all; pleasant surprise. When I walked in I was greeted with the smell of charbroiled oysters and I knew immediately I would order them. I ordered the traditional ones that are garlic butter and parmesan, but the crawfish rockefeller also sounded really appealing. I also ordered the fried green tomato stack and the crawfish etoufee. The oysters were just as good as they smelled! Deliciously buttery and not too much cheese (I'm of the mind that cheese and seafood go together very sparingly). The tomatoes were over-breaded but the batter was so good it didn't actually take away from the dish at all. the remoulade was perfect and honestly I could have eaten the tomatoes without the shrimp. OH BUT THE SHRIMP! Expertly cooked and coated in the most finger-licking blackening seasoning I've tasted in idk how long! I was so pleased with my "appetizers" I order the etoufee. Genuinely wish I hadn't. The consistency was that of etoufee (a roux base) but the taste was too tomato-y and acidic because of it; tasted more like creole (which I make often because there's no need for a roux). To top it off there were only 5 crawfish on the whole. For price, you're gonna wanna skip it. Overall would definitely return! Nice final meal of my trip.

My associate and I have frequented this restaurant for quite sometime, Monday nights at 5 p.m., like clockwork. we always ordered the same thing, because it was delicious...Shrimp & jambalaya. Brown jambalaya!Recently you've gone to the orange version. We are not fans!Even your Staff has agreed with us, the brown is their favorite. How do we get the Chef to go back to our favorite? The Staff loves us because we're excellent tippers. Please consider our request.Respectfully, Two Older [email protected]

To start off, our waitress took 15 minutes to greet our table. Mr. ED'S RESTAURANT has some what horrible service. You don't get your food in order, so it's a little unorganized. We received our appetizer a little after our entrees came out. While I was waiting for my appetizer, my food was getting cold. I told my waitress I was allergic to all citrus and they fixed Mt cocktail with orange juice and placed a orange slice on the rim of the glass. The restrooms are not that clean and it stinks like trash when you walking towards kitchen to get to the restroom. This place need a makeover really bad "Heils Kitchen Nightmares."I hope Heil can help turn Mr. Ed's Oyster Bar & Restaurant back into a wonderful place to dine soon before it's too late and they get closed down by the board of health.
