Sometimes you just need some hearty Chinese food. The $7 beef and broccoli combo
Manchurian Chicken Combo With Shrimp Fried Rice And Fried Wontons. ($7.95).
Crab Rangoons - $4.95 -- great filling, but as you can see from the photo, definitely overcooked. Consistently so.
Moon wok
I hope the food is better than the decor. Not that looks matter completely, but it's a start.

Excellent food and service. They are currently open Saturdays and Sundays 12-7. But follow them on instagram to keep up to date for when they expand their hours @moonwokfqnola Today I had the orange chicken combo for only $10 and the portion was huge. Taking the other half home for dinner.

The Best Chinese food. Owner great. To order weird. Text to number on door, she answers you than place order Than she texts you to come , you knock three times. She opens door, you pay and she hands your food.During Southern Decandance. Sat you could eat in. Sunday go to door Just odd, but worth it. And the adventure

LOVE China Moon Wok. They are sooooo friendly and fast (pickup only I'm pretty sure...). I love their veggie fresh soft spring rolls and tofu and rice and cabbage salad. Highly recommend for a quick, tasty, and reasonably priced, lunch or dinner in the FQ! Ask for no fish sauce if ordering vegan! Calling and ordering takeout is the best way to experience China Moon Wok! Great location and sidewalk ambiance while you wait to pick up your order.

There's no way to get around it, Moon Wok is a shady looking, run down hole. But that's ok as lots of people know that often times the best Asian food comes from the worst looking places. You won't find anything on their menu that's over $10 with most being $5 - $8. It's all about quality and value here. Let me show you an example: The two of us shared a bowl of Hot and Sour Soup, an combo order of Mandarin Chicken with Shrimp Fried Rice and Wontons, a Grilled Chicken Bahn Mi and a pot of hot tea and it only set us back $20.48. Not only were we stuffed full but we also agreed that it was our single favorite meal in New Orleans.I don't know her name but I give kudos to the seemingly one lone server that works here. She's fast, friendly and she's helped guide me to the very best things this place has to offer. The first time I was here she explained that the chef is from Vietnam and this is the cuisine where they shine the brightest. For those that prefer Chinese they've got all the standard American Born Chinese / ABC dishes like General Tso's, Sesame Chicken, Pepper Steak, etc. You get the picture.I've been to NOLA 3 times - I've eaten here 6 times. That tell you something? I eat food, not ambiance, so I'll give these folks 5 Stars.AndALittleMoreFoodForThoughtMy Recommendations:HOT AND SOUR SOUP (C - $3.95 / B - $5.95): The flavors of this Vietnamese version are sublime. The golden yellow broth is very thick with a tangy sour tartness to it. There's also a cayenne heat that steadily builds as you work your way to the bottom of the bowl. If you are adventurous with strong flavors, try it.BAHN MI GA NUONG ($3.49): Probably one of the better values is this satisfying and refreshing sandwich that starts with a toasted baguette. It is then filled with your choice of meat then loaded with carrot, cilantro, jalapenos, cucumber, pate and butter garlic mayo.MANDARIN CHICKEN COMBO MEAL ($6.95): This is a unique twist on Almond Boneless Chicken that's topped with crushed peanuts instead of almonds. What makes this special though is the gravy. It's infused with a mild hint of curry for a great Indo-Chinese spin. Get this as the combo meal with the shrimp fried rice and Wontons. You'll be happy you did.VIETNAMESE CHICKEN SALAD ($5.25): Looking for something lighter? For just a little more than the price of a Big Mac, you can get a huge, freshly made, healthy meal. You'll get a mix of cabbage, carrot and onions that comes with a zesty Asian vinaigrette that is tangy and delicious when topped with plenty of white chicken meat. Try a little Sriracha if you like a little zing.PHO ($5.95): I opt for the Pho Ga (Chicken) with its aromatic and savory chicken broth that boasts plenty of meat and noodles with a plate of fresh veggies on the side. Just add what you want, when you want. Be sure to add some Hoisin and Sriracha sauce as you eat to change the flavor of your soup.VEGGIE FRIED RICE ($4.95) It's a pint sized portion and it's pretty good stuff so you can fill up for cheap with this one. For just $1 more, you can add your choice of pork, beef, chicken or shrimp. For $2 more, you can get a combination of all these meats added.

I was foolish enough to visit Moon Wok for lunch on Mardi Gras day. The food was fine, but the place was a mad house! The inside was closed--takeout only--and they weren't serving their regular menu. As there were very few options to choose from, I got tofu pad Thai (not usually a favorite), spring rolls, and the "big ass" sweet tea. They're not kidding about the latter--it's frigging huge!!Well, maybe my hunger amped up the flavor, but that pad Thai really hit the spot. Truth be told, it did not display what's considered the correct balance of salty/sour/sweet--it was mostly just salty and sweet--but I must follow that with another truth: I really didn't care. It tasted delicious, authenticity be damned. The noodles were well done and fully saturated with sauce, and there were just enough scallions and bean sprouts thrown in for texture. There was plenty of crispy tofu, and the dish was topped with fresh limes and a generous mound of peanuts. My one gripe was with the red pepper flakes; I'm not a wuss when it comes to spice (I've been known to drink salsa like shots) but somebody dumped waaay too much red pepper in one corner of the dish, making part of the noodles inedible. I still managed to eat some by mistake, which resulted in a minor bout of indigestion. I'm all for hot peppers, but please PLEASE put them in a separate container next time. The spring rolls were decent--nice and fat--and the sweet peanut dipping sauce was excellent. They were coming apart a bit; not so fresh that day, perhaps?I'd say they're worth a return trip. Can't wait to try the tofu banh mi!

On the corner of St. Ann and Dauphine, in the French Quarter, this Chinese/Vietnamese restaurant is perfect for some mid day snacking, or lunch, but only if you have the time. They aren't super speedy, so call ahead if you are short on time, or get the food delivered if you are in the delivery area. There aren't too many options for PHO in the French Quarter, but after some seeking and testing on my part, I can say that I like this pho over the other option for the following reason: $4 more in my pocket! The spring rolls were pretty good. The prices are GREAT.

Ordered this place via Postmates today. I got the boneless chicken, shrimp fried rice, egg drop soup, and crab rangoons. Boneless chicken wasn't crispy at all (probably sat in the to-go container for an hour so who knows) and had funky taste. The rice is NOT fried rice. Whatever it is I don't like it. I asked for extra broccoli and baby corn and they hooked that up so that's my dinner tonight. Egg drop soup was . Anyway, I probably just ordered the wrong items. Definitely don't order what I got. I am disappoint.

Great Chinese food in the quarter. The service is A+++. Bao is the best. This place is a nice little "secret" of the French Quarter but if you're looking for something different to eat in downtown besides the typical New Orleans cuisine, definitely check this place out. Can't wait to go back.
