This turned out to be a great outing for my family. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed talking to the architects and homeowners on the tour and meeting like minded people who appreciate good art and architecture. This city has very few modern homes so I'm glad that this tour highlighted them and took us inside. My 3 month old enjoyed it as well. He loves new stimulating environments. It gave us good ideas as far as how to use common materials in new ways. The only complaint that I have is the cost. It was $30 in advance and $40 the day of which seems excessive for 6 homes and only one day.

Not a one of the homes was in a location appropriate for a modern home, say out at the lake; nay, they were all in historic areas as if they were stains that could not be washed out, interrupting the pattern of a beautiful piece of fabric. One house had a particularly wonderful space on the 3rd floor that just seemed to open up to the river, but it seem as though the first and second floors were just unorganized, non-ergonomic jumbles of rooms thrown together to hold up the third floor. One house, which was still in the midst of ongoing construction (sub-flooring had yet to even be laid) was particularly perverse.
