Great value for rice noodles (from very thin to very thick) and spring roll wraps compared to regular groceries. Have a lot of cheap utensils and cookware as well for kitchen needs.

I needed some Asian groceries, but I didn't want to drive to Metairie or the West Bank. Eventually it dawned on me: I was going to Dong Phuong for king cake anyway, so surely there would be a grocery with Asian supplies in the area. Enter Minh Canh.Let me say first that this is a small store in a strip mall, so it's not going to compare to Hong Kong Market or Golden City in terms of sheer size/options. Also, the parking lot is small and shared with other businesses, so parking can be interesting; people were inventing parking spots when I went. The store itself has an impressive variety for the size. I was able to get my hands on things that were much cheaper than their American counterparts (Ajinomoto vs Accent), or that just don't exist in local chains (black soy sauce, shrimp sauce, etc). There's a meat counter, fresh produce, and there was a lady shucking corn while I was there. The lady working the register spoke English, Spanish, and I think some Vietnamese. Another employee who helped also spoke English, so there was no language barrier. The only confusing part was the prices, as in several places the price tags were faded/missing. Their sign says they're moving, so keep that in mind.

"Hidden treasure" alert! Make the drive out to New Orleans East (Versailles) for Asian foods (Vietnamese specialties) paradise.I can't keep Minh Canh at four stars. No, it's now five-star fabulous because I've found my favorite thing to eat in the world right here in this humble Viet grocery store in 'da East: tofu skin!!!! (aka yuba aka vegan protein-packed deliciousness). It's in one of the dry goods aisle to the far left. They sell it in sheets and twists, depending on how you want to cook it (I buy twists, which I soak in boiling water and then cut into small chunks that I then toss with soy sauce, garlic, and hot sesame oil before throwing in the air fryer and making it crispy, chewy and tasty as hell! You can get tofu anywhere these days (packaged and not as good as the fresh + firm stuff you can get in Asian groceries like this one), but tofu skin isn't so easy to come by. I've searched for it online and Amazon sells it for a small fortune. Not to mention, the reviews complain about it arriving smashed to pieces (it's fragile. Not ideal to have it shipped). I've also had dragon fruit for the first time, thanks to it being sold here for a bit more of an attractive price. ALL of their produce is incredibly priced and I'd be hard-pressed to drive to Winn Dixie if I can just stop in here. They do not have organic produce, as it's a small store. Also, I calculated that their miso paste is 1/5 the price of the kind sold at Whole Foods. I know most New Orleanians head over to the West Bank to Hong Kong Market, which is admittedly much much bigger, but if you're feeling adventurous, drive out on Chef Highway to Minh Canh for a new experience. And located nearby is Dong Phuong, where you can get some serious banh mí for less than five bucks.

The place is so dirty. I walked through the aisles and the floors is black. It looks like they haven't cleaned it in years. They need to renovate the whole place because it doesn't look sanitized at all . I went here back in 2016 and it looked a lot better. The food is ok but the whole place it's self scares potential customers and is a turn off.

This is a medium sized Asian grocery that has a good selection of many products. Their produce is variable and you're never quite sure what you might find available. I was happy to find my liquid ginsing and royal jelly here which is an herbal infusion I like to occasionally indulge in to make my chi extra strong. This certainly isn't as large or nice a store as Hong Kong Market on the Westbank and they don't have nearly as good a selection of fresh produce but they do have some things that even Hong Kong doesn't have. They certainly could take a bit more time to clean the large amount of garbage out of their parking lot.

Even though I've never been to Asia, I speak with a tiny amount of authority on the matter of Asian groceries. I've spent considerable time in Vancouver BC, Seattle, Atlanta, Sydney and Hawaii... all of which have excellent International districts. When I moved to Louisiana I thought that my days of discovering homemade kimchi, fresh tofu, banana wrapped delights, and bottled "Pocari Sweat" (look it up) were over! Then one day as I was exploring New Orleans East I came across a tiny outcropping of buildings with Vietnamese names and jumped for joy! Do you want a giant bundle of fresh basil for a buck! They got it! Giant gourds of Durian? BOOM! YES! I ran up and down the isles trying to be cool, which as it turns out... I'm really honestly horrible at. My whole tactic is to not smile using my face which forces the smile to my stomach which in turn, makes my face contort into a weird expression of what can only be described as quizzical. It's sad really. Everyone just starts asking me if I need help. I should just jump down the isles of stores I like a 5 year old after 3 cans of Coke! Ahhhh! I love it! . Ok... now a side-note for the uninitiated. Asian groceries aren't always the best organized and can hold some unpleasant surprises for Westerners. If you're going to scream at a package of duck heads or live frogs... might want to keep to Win Dixie. Culinary adventure isn't for everyone and that's fine. More for me.

First thing: DIRTY. Even for an asian grocery store, this was bad. A grocery store in New Orleans that doesn't have a fish section? The staff isn't necessarily rude but very strange. I think that if you need asian products, you may want to go to another place so you won't disgust yourself.
