Always such a great time! It's one of the most local feeling festivals, we always run into a ton of friends both working and playing there. This year we really enjoyed George Porter Jr. we ate shrimp from Fraiti and also Jerk Pork Chop and Jerk Chicken from the Jamaican Jerk House- all delicious! I'm looking forward to next year as always.

First time going to the Bayou Boogaloo this year! I thought $20 was steep since you also had to buy things inside and you couldn't bring your own alcohol. I do understand that people and businesses need the money though. Besides that, it was so fun floating around and listen to music. Had a great time. Hopefully they cleaned the Bayou afterwards because I did see food baskets in the water.

I'm a fan of the smaller fests.2019 opened yesterday Friday 17th 430pm to smallish gathering and grew steadily to a decent crowd by 7pm.Tribute band (Police) known as the Fuzz on the big stage kicked off smartly exactly on schedule.Fuzz features a mighty rhythm section: Corey D, of (Tab Benoit fame) on bass with world class singer / guitar hero, TB on drums? who'd a thunk it? (sans vocal microphone). TB will front his OWN band Sunday, wouldn't wish to miss that !On the smallish Dumaine stage a little later, the inimitable COLE WILLIAMS & band. W O W !A GREAT set concluded with "Change is gonna come".May I say she was filled with the holy spirit?Powerhouse performance. The band is seriously good, and looked JOYOUS on stage.Houston band, "Suffer" next up on the big stage, some fine moments. I liked the brass section's mariachi type work and enthusiastic Latin flavoured stuff. This fest is 'semi commercial' and easy peasy coming / going to Bayou St. John. 1st time ever in 14 years, a FEE to enter. We got the all 3 days wristband for 20 bucks each. A sign of the times. As always, good food, drinks and local artists displaying their wares. Kid's tent. Locals floating on the bayou in an assortment of inflatables. Weather perfect unlike a year ago when Friday was blown away / washed out. 2019 Bayou Boogaloo deserves YOUR support come on out Saturday / Sunday.*gentle suggestion for organizers*As it is, the 'Sort of' bicycle parking..... could be better.Cycling (that's how we roll)should be encouraged imho and deserves a designated spot a la Jazz Fest....

This Festival was so Fun!!!! I really had a great Time. Especially my Son. He enjoyed the Kiddie Tent. He was able to play the drums, and dance and sing and just really have a good time. This place was so packed but everyone respected each other space and we understood the heat and skin to skin contact don't match. I had a great time just sitting back watching the crowds of people in the canoes and boats floating through the canal. There also were a lot of merchants out that day selling their crafts. It was really fun. Food, water, heat, dogs, kids, music, and alcohol! How could we ever go Wrong???

I've been to the Bayou Boogaloo a couple of times now, and it's a really fun festival! It's free to go, there are 3 music stages, plenty of food vendors, and a huge area for craft vendors. There are even tents with kids activities and music which is cool because lots of parents bring kids to this festival. I can't wait to go again!

I've said it before, and I'll say it again:This FREE festival, that happens on the banks of beautiful Bayou St. John near the end of May, is another one of the main reasons my neighborhood (70119) is better than your neighborhood.FREE top-notch entertainment.A GREAT selection of food and drink options.A HUGE arts market feature local artists and crafters. It gets a good crowd, but you can still walk up to the BIG stage and dance in front of the crowd without feel too crowned in, or get in for some good photo ops, and then go sit back down with your friends.Bring a blanket. Bring a chair. Bring your kids. Bring your dog.Enjoy my neighborhood at it finest!!

On our first day visiting NOLA, one of our Uber driver highly recommended going to the Bayou Boogaloo at some point that weekend. Three days later, we decided to attend and regret nothing! We were surprised by how well-organized this music festival was for a free event. Food/drink/art vendors galore! Great music and friendly community. Definitely a sight to behold all the festive, homemade rafts people have crafted for the occasion. Trust me, you'll have a lot of fun! :)

This was my first time at Bayou Boogaloo and it definitely won't be my last! Now that I live in the neighborhood I plan on going every year! Since I can walk to the festival I don't have to worry about parking. And I saw signs for a bike valet, how cool is that? If you drive i would recommend getting here early because parking can be a pain (trust me when i try to find a spot to get home). Bonus for having recycle bins throughout the grounds! What can I say, Bayou Boogaloo reminds me of what Jazz Fest used to be back in the day (except that the Boogaloo is free which is awesome!!). There are awesome local musical acts, multiple stages, wonderful craft booths (ran into a high school friend at her jewelry booth), and most importantly-delicious food booths! It's a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon and it goes from Friday-Sunday! I printed out the food vendor list and musical acts beforehand and plotted my strategy (mainly good itinerary). The highlights were boucherie's pork sandwich, City Diner?'S Cuban sandwich, and the strawberry snowball with condensed milk! Although it was a little warm there are beautiful trees along the bayou and there is always a cool breeze coming from the bayou. I camped out near the bayou watching the canoes, kayaks, and floating islands go by. Maybe next year I'll have to rent a kayak to experience the fest from the water's side!I almost forgot that there is a rubber duck race that benefits Second harvest Food Bank! When I went to buy a rubber ducky they were sold out which is great for them but sad for me. I watched the race which starts around 4pm on Sunday and a dump truck dumps tons of rubber duckies into the bayou. Firemen then hose the rubber duckies to the finish line and a poor guy in a kayak tried to make sure the ducks move along in the right direction and not under the bridge.Happy Bayou Boogaloo!
