I cannot believe it. I was extremely disappointed with my stay here. Never book the Frenchman Executive Suite. I came late and had to sleep one night here. Terrible experience. I have a sore throat bc I'm sure I have mold sickness from the very apparent water damaged walls. The fridge is broken. There is hair and dirt everywhere. The sheets smell. The washer had mold. The pillows are hard. The beds have hospital sheets and a springy mattress. I have never paid so much for such a nightmare. It's unfortunate because this room has so much potential but there's absolutely no upkeep. The only saving grace is the one security guard, Tori. She made sure to get us anything we needed and took care of us. The manager, Jason, was also kind and tried to accommodate as best he could... But the room... tragedy. I'm so disappointed. Can't even stay here for the rest of the days. Going to to the Marriot. I guess it's better to stick to what you know.

This property is gorgeous and we really did enjoy our stay. For the most part our room was clean, but somewhat unappealing with slipcovers on the furniture, and stains on the lampshade. I know it's a very old building with some antique furniture so maybe that's why. Our room was gorgeous overall, with beautiful wood floors, but sadly there were paint splatters all over them. Someone certainly wasn't careful when painting the walls. The location can't be beat, and we felt secure and happy overall. We would stay there again.

Melrose Mansion will be our go to place when visiting New Orleans. Brian (sp?) was so friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. He is one of the main reasons we love this place. The room was spacious, and the bed was extremely comfortable. The location was great! We were able to walk to the French Quarter. They had great amenities too.

The absolute worst place to stay... started off with checking in and the front desk guy cusssing out his computer saying "f**ck this f**ck that piece of sh*t" then we were left to wait for 20 minutes to wait in the lobby when I had a wedding to be at.. when we get back and fall asleep the fire alarm is going off randomly and no one is running out of their room so we go to the front desk and it seemed no one knew??? So they move us to another room and grab our bags without describing anything what is going on??? Ended up leaving in the middle of the night because of how weird the management is and no reasoning..

We loved this place! Very cute and perfect location. The pool and backyard area is beautiful as well. Walking distance to Bourbon St and Frenchmen's St. We will definitely be back!

The staff, specifically Caleb the manager were amazing and accommodating! I stayed for 10 days in the Donecio Suite, the Grand Balcony suite and I never wanted to leave. Highly recommend the Melrose Mansion, only two blocks from Bourbon street and we having coffee on the private balcony every morning was the best

Booked a trip 6 months in advance. I had to call 6 times just to get a confirmation email. After being taken to our room at check in (not the room I booked 6 moths earlier because the new owner is rehabbing the selected room as his own) the concierge practically ran from the room. That's when we noticed that the AC wasn't on or so we thought. The bathroom wasn't particularly clean, so I used the lysol wipes from my travel bag and cleaned the bathroom. As I finish cleaning, housekeeping walks through the door. I did give them the dried, crusty, used towels that were in a drawer in the bathroom. We went to lunch and when we returned the room was still 78 degrees. Brian at the front desk (I was toild by the HVAC contractor that he is the general manager) called HVAC specialist and as we waited. I went to the front desk to inquire about another room we could move to and was told by Brian that they had no other rooms for the entirety of our stay. Back in the 78 degree room, the HVAC specialist confirmed that the AC would not be fixed before Monday as it was Friday, May 17, at 5:21 PM and all stores were closed. HVAC gentleman went to the front desk and reported to us that a room was available but we would have to change rooms a third time later in our stay. Interesting that the General Manager of the property told me that there were no rooms but told an outside contractor that they did have a room. Back down at the front desk, Brian told us we have to understand that things break and there is nothing he can do about it. Once we walked away saying we would need to find another hotel, Brian called and had a room for us. At that point, we didn't want to stay and the issue was not the AC. The issue was Brian's disregard for his guests, his dismissive tone and inability to get off a personal phone call to discuss the matter with us, and the biggest reason was Brian's inability to apologize or attempt to empathize with us. We are now 13 days later, 21 phone calls initiated by me and countless text messages, we have finally been refunded for our initial deposit. Interestingly, Brian has been kind, apologetic, communicative and understanding in every interaction since we decided to leave the Melrose Mansion. We stayed at Melrose Manion 6 years ago and it was magical! Clean bathrooms, updated fixtures, so unique, perfect location, wonderful team. It was literally the reason we chose to return to New Orleans. This experience was more than disappointing. I can overlook a bathroom that needed a wipe down and having to move rooms because stuff just happens. What I cannot overlook is being dismissed, unvalued, disregarded, blown off and having to remind a manager of a boutique hotel that we are his guests. In a city so well known for their hospitality, The Melrose Mansion fails to deliver.

My husband and I stayed in the Prince Edward Suite. We loved the rooms (although we could have used some kind of tabletop in the bathroom). The breakfast was above average in variety and taste. What made our stay so amazing was the staff. Taking time to familiarize us with the area, making recommendations, responding immediately when I called the desk twice, making sure we had our water before going out in the heat, always right there to help with our luggage. But mostly all had a big smile and a friendly greetings for everyone...a happy place!

I was required to pay for my first night as a deposit - one that wasn't refundable if I didn't cancel 72 hours in advance. I called 5 days before my reservation (a Friday) to reach them and got their voicemail. After no response all weekend, I tried several more times via phone and email on Monday and Tuesday. No one ever answered the phone, returned a message, or responded to an email. I finally called the main JCollection reservations line and was told I would not be refunded because I didn't cancel 72 hours in advance. They also could not reach the hotel and the other number the hotel listed was out of service. It was not until the day I was supposed to arrive that I heard from them. The hotel did not refund my deposit however JCollections told me they would due to the complete lack of response. I have no idea if its a nice hotel or not, however based on the fact they do not staff their front desk or phones, I suspect the customer service is the same while staying.

Do not waste your time here. We came down for a wedding and once we got to the check in the guy left us in the lobby for 20 while he was sitting behind the desk screaming the F word multiple times all because his computer wouldn't work... after the wedding we go back to our room and out of nowhere the fire alarm goes off but only in our room. So we go back to the front desk guy who is freaking out and running but doesn't know what's going on. Instead of telling us what happened he thought he'd distract us by moving us to the presidential suite. Well that one was even worse, the windows and doors wouldn't lock. I've never felt more unsafe in my life. So we decide to leave and we walk around the building to the front to let him know we're no longer staying, and it's like he disappears! We go ring the bell to let us in, at the front for 10 minutes and no one let us in but we could hear people laughing. Worst place!
