Mata Sushi

We have family in Mandeville so we usually visit a couple of times a year. We're always wanting to try new restaurants so decided to try this one. Its located right next door to Cafe du Monde so is easy to find with plenty of parking. The service is very friendly. We were greeted warmly when we arrived. Restaurant looks really nice inside with large mirrors to make the dining area brighter. Two TVs in case you want to watch a game and very accommodating - someone in our party is a Dodgers fan so wanted to watch the World Series so switched one of the TVs even though a Saints game was also on! Nice sushi bar in the back. Very clean overall and modern. Food was all really good. We had curry fries, poke nachos, and an assortment of entrees - I had the sushi combo which I did take a photo of because it was a lot of food and really fresh. Overall we were very happy with the whole experience so will definitely come back when back in the area again!

I respect the owners, they are very kind; HOWEVER it really is overpriced for mediocre sushi. Also, the ambiance needs some adjusting (imo). It was too spacious and loud, and the place was not even close to full capacity. The lighting was too bright and the mirrors were too distracting. It feels like eating at a loud cafeteria instead of a private space. For that much money I don't want to hear echoes from every other patron in the building. I hope they can get the kinks worked out before long.

Mata Sushi is an absolute gem! The fish quality is exceptional, and the portion sizes are generous. The environment is welcoming and cozy, making for a wonderful dining experience. The service is friendly and attentive, and the prices are very reasonable for the quality of food. The baked green mussel was absolutely delicious, and the fresh pepper tuna sashimi was melt-in-your-mouth good. I had the sushi deluxe meal, which was fantastic, and my wife had the eel rice bowl, which she thoroughly enjoyed. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful. Highly recommend!

This seems to be a new-ish place. Went for lunch on a week day and wasn't super busy. Service was punctual and the food was good. The preparation and quality of the sushi seemed quite good; I've certainly had much worse sushi in Louisiana. I'm a touch disappointed that they're using foreign crawfish and/or shrimp, but then again, I don't think either are in season right now. And at least they're honest/upfront about it, unlike some places. Overall I'd recommend checking them out.

What a glow up this place has gotten!!! It is meticulously clean and beautifully designed. Looks so much bigger inside than it was when it was a ramen restaurant a few months ago! The sushi is beyond compare. The owner had a very well known sushi restaurant on Hwy 59 before, and the quality of the ingredients is very high. If you liked the other restaurant, you'll love Mata! The service is great too! I think you'll see a few familiar faces from the other restaurant! I'll be back! So, so good!

Nice addition to the Mandeville area. Very friendly staff and amazing sushi. Everything was beautifully presented, extraordinarily fresh and full of flavor. The burning man roll and Mississippi roll were fantastic. We will back very soon.

Amazing isn't enough to describe this place!! Definitely the best sushi on the Northshore!

Our first time there and The food is amazing! I would recommend it..the service was great also..the only thing we would of like is pictures on the menu lol but besides that all wonderfull Lanes

Loved eating at the new Mata Sushi! Even with the Friday night rush the service was Excellent and the food arrived promptly! The rolls were delicious and the restaurant was beautiful! So happy another family friendly restaurant has joined the Northshore!!
