Lovely park in uptown New Orleans at the intersection of Carrollton and Claiborne. The park is now called Marsalis park. Unless there is a ton of rain, the park is kept mowed and neat. The parks has paved walking paths, benches, game tables, and playground. 3 laps around the park is a mile. Typically the park is frequented by families, dog owners, and walkers. Occasionally there will be a craft fair or market. Overall, lovely place to take a stroll or sit and enjoy the humid New Orleans weather.

I only go to Palmer for one thing, the New Orleans Arts Council Art Market. This on going open art art market is still the best in the city for highly curated art. No Mom and Pop trinkets sold here. Many of the artists sell their ware in local shops all over town. When you buy from the artist here, you are putting money directly in their pocket. The New Orleans Arts Council does a great job of picking a highly talented group of artists. The overall selection is quite varied. On days when they have the art market you can expect a few food vendors, live music and the myriad of artists I mentioned above. However, there is a really nice children's park area and lots of open ground to run, frolic or walk your doggy. This mature park is shaded by several trees that add to the overall beauty of the park.So whether it's a day with the kids, shopping for art or taking your pooch on a walk....Palmer Park is a great destination.

Updating this to say that after a few more months in the neighborhood and as our little guy has grown into the equipment we have really come to appreciate this wonderful resource. I'm particularly fond of the scavenger hunt game that allows the little kids to scout the playground for symbols and colors. Such a smart idea. We've really enjoyed getting to know the regulars and always having an impromptu play date when the weather clears and everyone has been house bound. Months later - still fabulous!

This is a lovely bit of green space right in the middle of Carrollton Avenue. This spot is ideal for parents because there's a jungle gym for the kids. I sometimes have meetings here, especially when the weather is nice. The park is small, but it's well kempt. There's a walking trail to get some exercise in, when it isn't too hot. I especially like the occasional art market that they have here. I used to go all the time a few years ago and I remember that it used to be packed with different booths filled with artful offerings. Palmer isn't as visually stunning as Audubon Park, right down the street, but it's a nice part of New Orleans.

Palmer Park has a brand new jungle gym for the kiddies and it's pretty impressive. Lots of fun interactive parts as well as traditional slides and swings. And the park is kept so clean by the neighbors (and the Arts Market folks). Really a lovely spot.

Palmer Park has a really strong group of advocates who over see the care and activities in this central location.Once a month, usually the 2nd weekend of each month, there is a festive arts, crafts, & food fair, which often includes live music. The fair is very popular in the immediate & surrounding neighborhoods. The best way to come is by St Charles Streetcar.

I love green space! This is a neat park with a great playground for the kids, lots of park benches, and right at the end of the street car line plus a bus stop! It is conveniently located across the street from Walgreens and Robert's so you can grab a bite to eat or drink and enjoy it in the park.Plus they have the local arts market once a month, I think the last weekend of the month where there are tons of tents with local artists and their artwork and wares! It's also a well-maintained park which is nice!Happy Park Relaxing!

I love anytime I can go to an art market and buy gifts for friends and family or myself from local people. The Palmer's Park art market is one of the biggest I've found so you can see tons of vendors all in one place. They have plenty of vendors selling prints, jewelry, soaps, pottery, and other eclectic things so you can find the perfect thing for just about anyone. They also have food stands, and live music. Great place to wander around with friends for an afternoon even if you aren't looking for anything in particular.

Palmer Park is pretty awesome. They have a very nice playground, which my daughter is in love with. It took her all of 5 seconds to master the mini rock-climbing wall and she kept going back for more. A clean park with lots of parking around the perimeter, located near the streetcar line.

Palmer Park provides those in the neighborhood with a small playground, green space & traditional park benches, a walking path around the perimeter (3 laps = 1 mile), and access to the St Charles streetcar and NORTA buses. There's an Arts Market hosted by the Arts Council of New Orleans that occurs during the last Saturday of each month.
