The lovely Ms. Hannah asked if I could bring her some pralines back from NOLA, and I was happy to oblige. However, I wasn't going to bring her those stale ones that have been sitting in a box at the airport. No mam! My girl deserves fresh pralines, and I knew exactly where to go! Magnolia Sugar & Spice on Royal St. They even have a sign on the wall that says, "Friends don't let friends eat stale pralines." True Dat!I had been here a few years ago and remember how delicious their freshly made, creamy pralines are. The shop has a lot of character. If you're looking for a gift or souvenir, you'll most likely find it here. They have an assortment of home décor items, trinkets, t-shirts, hot sauces, & spices. You can try the sauces at the Hot Sauce bar and then cool off the burn with a sample of a yummy praline. (Helpful tip: If your mouth is on fire from something spicy, sugar is a better remedy than milk or water.)The lady making the fresh pralines was delightful, as was the gal working the register. They were both as sweet as the luscious pralines.

Such a cute shop on Royal Street. Ask for Monica. Named for Saint Monica, an early North African saint and mother of Saint Augustine, her angelic smile, warmth and kindness are the perfect way to start your day exploring the Quarter. Grab a box of fresh pralines. They are heavenly. Explore the store to find a fun souvenir or just explore the artwork. Love the signs by Simon of New Orleans. Check out the old Gulf Gas Pump near the back of the store. Great tributes to jazz legends like Louis Armstrong, Fats Domino and Professor Longhair. Bring a taste of Louisiana home with spices or hot sauce. Season everything with love because it is sweet to be loved BAYOU! Remember, Friends don't let friends eat stale pralines! They ship nationally.

Visited here last weekend, and bought pralines! (I looove Aunt Sally's, but wanted to try 2 other companies.)They have a serious selection of hot sauce and spices, which i didn't have time to really investigate, but they do ship, so THAT'S happening soon! This place was discovered while walking around the area. I think it's close to a candy shoppe and just a few stores down from an antique store with a $15k Mahogany foosball table. Yes. Fifteen Thousand Dollars. (It featured detailed monkey\apes and lions in a silver metallic finish.)PRALINES: the Magnolia Original had a chocolatey or Cocoa undertone to it, which i liked better than the creamy one, which was also good.la Belle Creole Confections Pralines: These were great, similar to Aunt Sally's. I had the Creamy ones, as i didn't see an Original version. These tasted similar to Bucees, for reference.#thatsweirdamirightThere were free samples (Magnolia brand only, which are made in-house right in front of you!), but i declined and wanted to be surprised later, after i returned back home to DFW.

A hot sauce bar?! Sure I'll try that. I tried so many different hot sauces and it was still hard trying to decide which one to get. I don't mind hot sauce and some of these were too hot even for me so getting to try them out certainly helped narrow it down a bit. I went with "Slap ya mama." They also offer sweet things like jams, etc. Service was great.

I found myself here doing a mix of tourist shopping for my friends and of course for myself. The big sign that read, "Magnolia Sugar & Spice" pulled me in as well as the big opening in the store. It's got this charm (and smell of pralines) that kind of pulls you in.The store has tons of gift ideas. Something for everyone you feel like buying for, from coffee, coffee mugs and pralines to hot sauces, cookbooks and more. You can sample the pralines before you even buy them which is nice and they come in individually wrapped cookies or boxes. In the middle of the store you can sample the different hot sauces and such. Not necessarily my thing because I start thinking about the germs, but have at it if you feel like trying it out. It's in a great spot in town so you can look around before you head into the French Quarter, figure out what you want and then grab it on your way back. That way you don't need carry around your bag of goodies all day.For a touristy place I didn't think it was too overly priced. The staff was nice and the place was really clean. Not bad at all in my book!

Rating for their fresh pralines! Get the ones they make there. They also sell packaged ones in boxes. No, buy the ones freshly made there. The best I've had!

got called a homophobic slur "f*ggot" by a customer and the cashier person sided with them and told me to get out or they'll call the cops. also got accused of breaking a zipper on a hoodie that I wanted to purchase. I really came back to buy a hoodie and a hat that I had seen earlier in the morning (lady who worked the morning of 4/15/2024 was lovely and recommend that I come stop by later) anyway I wouldn't come back to this establishment and spend money.

If there was a zero, yes, I agree with the other recent reviews. The lady making the pralines in front of the store is super rude...it's like they put her in front of the store to scare away customers, why? 95% of the people coming in and out of that store are tourists. I simply asked what pralines are. Next thing I know she's asking where I'm from, and she went on and on practically implying how stupid the question was. She was getting so loud, people were giving us looks. I took my business elsewhere. Such a shame.
