You come to Magazine street hoping to stop in these antique shops, and this is one of them. I think I had been here previously, and enjoyed my experience. But this time around, it was just a bunch of poorly curated junk. The way things were displayed was poor, just unorganized, requiring you to dig around. It feels overwhelming going in here. Previously, I felt like I was on a treasure hunt, but this time around, I was feeling anxiety going through all the stuff. They do have old typewriters and old phones though, at decent price (around $115-175 for typewriters, and $25 for the old phones). I thought those were the coolest items. But honestly, they didn't even have the cute charm I was hoping for. Some of the typewriters did have handles, which was great if you wanted to carry it on your flight back home. But, you couldn't take the lid off...just a bummer. Will forever continue to search for the vintage typewriter and phone.

This place is pretty cool. They let different vendors set up and sell antiques and knickknacks. Some stuff is cool, some stuff is ... well, it's been there a while. But either way it's cool. The only reason I'd give them less than 5 stars is the hours. They are open every day, but only a 5-6 hour window, and if you're working all day it can be tough to get there. Otherwise, the staff is super friendly and I recommend stopping in to see them!

The antique mall for me is like traveling back in time. Things from my childhood pop up all over. There are things here that I have no idea what they are but it is fun to guess and then read the tag. My friend and I spent a bit of time exploring and really enjoyed ourselves. With that said, neither of us purchased anything. I think that one might have something in mind, like a costume piece, movie prop or furniture before actually purchasing in here. Either way, it is a neat place with tons and tons of stuff.

After walking through the Garden district I took a stroll through Magazine Street. This store got my attention so I decided to go inside and take a look. After looking around I found a purse that I like and what look like an antique pen. I also found a replica of a hand fan that I purchased at the French Market for $2. Took all 3 items to the register. The fan I was told there's no items in there for less $5, so I did not take the fan. The pen, I was told could not be sold to me because it was not priced and she could not determine what part of the store it came from. Unbelievable, I believe that was the owner. Do a better job at labeling your products. I guess She can afford to not make a sale. I suspect that race could have played a part in this transaction.

A really cool antique mall. Prices were fair and it had a broad variety of items. Definitely time well spent to visit. The staff was very friendly

This place is kind of overpriced, but it has tons of stuff. They do have some good items, though.

Magazine Antique Mall in the Garden District is a far cry from the antiquarian shops on Royal Street full of museum pieces. It does have some treasures, but also a ton of fun. I spent two hours there and found everything from the ridiculous (a beaded necklace adorned with toilets) to the funky (Daisy Mae figurine from Li'l Abner) to the obscene (a wine bottle opener that I won't share here) to the sublime (a Mexican retablo). Magazine Antique Mall has room after room of pieces for sale by a variety of vendors. The staff is wonderful--not pushy or hovering but just friendly enough. I walked there from my hotel in the warehouse art district and it was a nice walk and well worth it.Those complaining about having to check their backpacks need to get over it. The Antique Mall is responsible for items from many different vendors. The rule is so that you won't whack things and break them. It is standard for places like this.

The good is that there's something for everyone here. It's a very large store with a ton of items.I was disappointed with the art selection. There was such a small amount of paintings. The few that were in there were pretty expensive. But because I'm good at digging around, I did manage to find two matching pieces in a couple of stacks on the floor that were inexpensive. Such a small win in such a big store though. It's still a cool place to hang around in for a couple hours.

Something for everyone! Great prices and friendly service. Well worth a visit...but be warned, time flies when you start looking in all the nooks and crannies.

I brought a vintage knife as a gift and was told it was a Kabar WWII knife. Brought it home and on closer look it was just a common German hunting knife from the 60's. They do not even attempt to verify their products it seems and just prey on unsuspecting tourists. I just wish I wasn't in a hurry and had given it a closer look in the shop. They do not take returns. Do not buy unless you can verify yourself what you're looking at because they do not know what they are talking about.
