Luncheonmeat Louie's

Came here once with my BIL Tommy and had a few cold ones. Was a weeknight that we really didn't have anything going on. So why not drive 5 mins from the house and try a new to us place? I have passed this place maybe 500K over my life as a Westbanker but couldn't tell ya anything about it. Now I can.The bartender was a easy going cool dude and very loyal to his customers. I say that because when I was attempting to take pics of the empty bar, he jumped up asking what I was doing. I told him and when he said his people didn't like pics, I said what people? A awkward giggle from him and all was good. That tells me this is a safe place indeed!!!We were told good stories of how this bar was the soul provider of ice after Zeta and Ida. Helping the popo, fire and locals out. Cool cool.Don't hesitate to visit this place. Parking is kinda odd but there is plenty of it. Safety isnt an issue either. Especially in Gretna, home of the less than 60 second Police response time.....all is good. I cant find the pics now that its been a year ago. Doh!

Luncheonmeat Louie's is a typical West Bank dive.Located within incorporated Gretna, Luncheonmeat Louie's is one of the more interestingly named bars that I have visited. While the name is very interesting, the bar is not.The first time I tried visiting this bar it was closed. On my second visit it may as well have been closed as there was only one other customer in the bar.The bar is very small. It appears that it caters to only its regular clientele and I did not feel welcome. I guess repeatedly asking "where's Louie?" or "why is he nicknamed Luncheonmeat?" were wearing thin, but inquiring minds wanted to know. After one drink I decided I had seen enough.I am glad I checked it out, but I will probably stick to other fine WB establishments in the future.

We just had to stop here when we drove past. The drink specials board looked interesting. The name is interesting...It's your typical dive. Bartender friendly, cheap drinks. They didn't have soda water which was weird.You can smoke in here, there is a pool table, and some questionable looking couches in the corner.They have Nascar on Sundays if you're into that kind of thing....

I came here about two years ago. I have to tell ya, that the bartenders were really strange. Really strange. I just had one beer and afterwards I left. I was not happy though.
