I passed this furniture store last week and was intrigued by the name so when I was back on Barataria yesterday with a few extra minutes to spare, I stopped in.The owner, Candy was really nice and helpful. They had a large selection of dining room tables, sofas, chairs and bedroom sets. Most of it was large scale to fit modern suburban homes...not what works for my 19th century house. Candy suggested that I check out their website as she can order anything from a large selection of catalogs. Definitely a place to check out for personalized service.

I'm not one for modern furniture design. My aesthetic heart definitely belongs to eras bygone. Plus second-hand, antique consignment and thrifting are a #1 hobby of mine; a hobby for which my neighborhood of Midcity is lacking no options. Basically, I don't find myself much in the need of new furniture wares or caring to invest even a minute of time in places like Rooms To Go and Ikea (...gross). But I decided that the sofa I wanted when I moved into my new place was going to be a brand spanking new one, having been scarred by the prior upholstery nightmares of used sofas. I found a style that I loved and promptly applied my thrift shop knowhow towards the pursuit of the best deal I could get on NEW furniture. If you're curious, yes, I am a 90-year-old woman in a 28-year-old's body. And yes, the sofa I fell in love with is by Ashley. Now, I know I could have ordered it online, but a) I support local business every chance I get, and b) if you live in New Orleans then you *know* you don't leave deliveries on the porch. "Curbside Delivery" is a fancy way of saying "shipping". It *does not* mean they bring it in and assemble - it means they dump it in front of what they guess is your house and eff the eff off, good luck. So after months of Google-sleuthing, looking for a local store carrying this particular sofa at an internet-competitive price, I stumbled across Let's Do. I am so glad I found Let's Do, and I really want to make more people aware of them. I have had nothing but attentive and excellent service from Candice and the rest of the staff here. Knowing they were a thrift outlet before makes me sad I've only just found them. If you are looking for currently manufactured furniture, then I would check their online inventory. Or give them a call, Candy has never once had a problem spending time on the phone answering my questions. They seem to carry most brands and styles I can find at larger chains or even other local retailers (like Comeaux or Compass). They weren't the only store carrying the sofa I wanted, but they had a match price (actually a bit lower than some others, and on par with the absolute lowest price I had found) with average delivery fee (nothing exorbitant but delivery is about the same everywhere). Being a not poor not rich 20-something, with maybe slightly finer taste in furniture than my station allows, here's what really grabbed my attention:The lay-a-way plan is absopositivelutely UNBEATABLE. $20.00 down to purchase any piece (there may be exceptions, but none that I encountered) and no set monthly amount. As a buyer I feel you should take responsibility to make adequate payments and not abuse the system, but it took me 7 months to pay my sofa off and sometimes what I could pay varied by month, Never once did I feel like anything but a valued customer. Unfortunately, it did turn out that the sofa I originally wanted was no longer being manufactured, and this IS a significant risk in furniture lay-a-way. Candy happily worked with me to try and find a substitute in a style that I equally liked (and offered to promptly refund my money in full, if we couldn't). I didn't need a refund; we found the same style in a different upholstery. If I was more into modern furniture, they'd have *such* a repeat customer on their hands. As it stands, for anything I may require down the line in the realm of new furniture Let's Do is without a doubt going to be my first pick.
