Le Richelieu Hotel is billed as a luxury boutique hotel in the French quarter. It has old time New Orleans charm and captivating ambiance. There are stunning wood carved chairs and tables in the lobby, the rooms have hard wood floors, an adequate bathroom with a soft comfortable bed (I booked the king deluxe). My coffee maker was not working and even though they took over 2 hours to replace it (with a brand new one), the front desk staff was superb, in all respects. In addition, I had communicated with them, by text, numerous times before getting here. Each and every time, they replied promptly, within 15 minutes.I came to NOLA to indulge in the dining scene and did not know that a bonus opportunity was about to present itself. Although the main Mardi Gras parades are in early March, there are warm up parades weeks prior (something I was not aware of), sometimes multiple events per day, albeit at different locations in the city. So, I tasked Connor, the evening reception desk clerk, to get me top notch balcony tickets, for the afternoon parade (in the French quarter), on my last day there. Once again, Connor replied promptly (I was out on the town) and I was able to secure a ticket for a 2-5 pm Mardi Gras parade that included unlimited beverages and 3 foods, at the Cornet (look out for my review on this platform). Overall, I must say that it is not always that one hits a good stay. Hyperbole is magnetic and several hotels take it to the max and disappointingly, do not deliver. Le Richelieu does not fall into that category. They delivered, on all fronts, to make my visit to New Orleans (after over 3 decades), an eventful, satisfying and memorable stay. Merci.

Le Richelieu Hotel (LRH) is a historic hotel located in New Orleans, Louisiana that I would describe as NOLA CHARM PERFECTION! (see pics & videos included w/ this review)In celebration of our 21st wedding anniversary (yep, love was in the air!) my hubby & I, stayed at LRH (Thurs., 09/26/2024 - Sun., 09/29/2024) & while, not our 1st time visiting NOLA, it definitely was our FAVORITE visit in NOLA. Here is why I'm giving Le Richelieu Hotel a well deserved five-star review: 1.) Location: LRH is located in a quiet area that is conveniently located w/in walking distance to the French Market (few blocks away), Cafe Du Monde (9 mins away), Frenchmen St., Frenchmen St. corridor (5 mins away), & many other NOLA gems. We enjoyed walking to Cafe Du Monde for the oh so, delicious beignets, sightseeing around Frenchmen St. (browse at Louisiana Music Factory & Cafe Negril for live music). We even walked to the Harley Davidson Store located on Bourbon St. , which was a little bit farther away but still very doable by foot. 2.) Room Amenities: Even though this hotel is historic (building built in 1845) the hotel & rooms have been renovated so it does feel both charming & updated. We stayed in room 301, 3rd floor (no balcony). Room was very spacious & clean (see pics & videos). Room did have a mini fridge, safe, iron, & iron board. No issues w/ hot water pressure in shower. A/C worked great. Housekeeping came daily to make up bed, take trash out, & give fresh towels. 3.) Noise: Feedback on poor soundproofing between guest rooms, as mentioned by previous reviews - we did briefly experience this but I came prepared & brought my mini JBL portable speaker just in case it was needed to help drown out noise from neighbors by playing brown noise or music. Glad to report that I only had to use it one time :). 4.) Parking: LRH does have its own private parking area that is gated & kept locked. Upon check-in you will be given a key fob to open parking gate as needed. The fob also unlocks the front door of the hotel (kept locked 7pm-7am). FYI, there is a call button located outside the gate that calls to the front desk, if needed. 5.) Outdoor Pool Onsite: The pool area at night is so magical! (see videos) Helpful Tidbits: 1.) Many of the surrounding food spots close by 10pm. 2.) Balcony Info:If you chose a room w/out access to the balcony no worries, because there a single private balcony that can be used by all guests, located on the 3rd floor. It has a small table & 2 chairs. You will need to unlock the lock at the top to open the double doors. I also wanted to share that many of the rooms on the 3rd floor w/ doors in room that open up to the SHARED balcony. (See video) Okay, if you've read this far..kudos to you! :)) You're in for a treat because the last piece of info that I wanted to share about our stay at Le Richelieu is an unexplainable experience for sure & dare I say...possibly paranormal?! So at 6am on the morning we were to check out, my hubby woke me up by pulling back the white duvet & sheets that I was sleeping under & when he did, we saw that there was bright red blood soaked on the bottom sheet near my lower legs (my legs not touching it) that had NOT been there when we went to sleep. This was not my blood. I had no blood on me or on any of the clothes I had worn the night before. Blood was not my hubby's. We have no idea how this blood got there. The blood had soaked down through the mattress topper and the mattress itself however, there was no blood on the top sheet. There also were a few blood droplets on the floor leading to the bed. For sure this wasn't old stained blood because it was bright red in color. My hubby actually wiped up the blood on the floor & then tried to clean the blood off the bedding & mattress (some of it came out but only a little bit). He didn't want us to lose our deposit. I was basically sleep walking (& a lil bit hungover) at that point while trying to gather my stuff so we could then check out & I just wasn't alert enough to take a picture of the blood (I know! I'm still kicking myself for that!!). Had I been fully awake :), I would have taken pics & videos for proof & would have told my hubby to not worry about cleaning it up because we didn't cause it. While this experience was definitely weird, it was not scary at all. I didn't say anything to the front desk staff when I returned the fob but I did send a message through the booking app. To sum it up, my hubby and I, TRULY ENJOYED our stay at Le Richelieu Hotel & will be returning guests the next time in NOLA.Hope this info helps! Nice place to stay in the French quarter. Walk a few blocks and on bourbon street. Staff very helpful in helping where to go and suggestions on food and drink. Parking around back is $45 a day but secure.

This hotel was super clean/safe (from the main lobby to the hotel room), had welcoming and informative staff, gave us complimentary water when asked, and had a nice courtyard. You could hear people in other rooms sometimes but that did not bother us. The hotel also had staff calling and texting us that we could reach out to them ahead of time if we had any questions about our trip and/or reservations with them. The only thing I did not like is that the hotel was not going to honor a code we found when booking online, even though we called the hotel and confirmed with them ahead of time before booking with them that we could use the code that came with extra perks. They honored the drink coupon that came with it (but not other perks such as parking which is expensive), but this was the only negative experience I had with the staff during our 7 night stay. Would stay here again.

Our daughter suggested this quaint hotel for our first stay in NOLA. It is vintage with classic charm. Very Clean and comfy. Friendly staff and awesome housekeeping ladies. Balcony is overlooking the street if you like to people watch. It's a short walk to Bourbon street and is centrally locally to go down by the river too. You can get anywhere in the French quarter easily from this location and it's quieter than Bourbon Street. Our room is a great size. Tv refrigerator and a coffee maker too. We had comfy king bed and the towels were large and soft. Only downside was the hotel's bar and restaurant which are poolside- were closed for renovations. Loved the secure parking lot with fence. Definitely will return next year to check out the bar/restaurant.

What a lovely boutique hotel, we happened on this place on our next to last night in the city and although we don't have any plans in the near future to visit New Orleans we want to come back to stay here. We were simply taking a walk in the French quarter when we were invited inside by the the desk clerk/ concierge-Kent who is praise-worthy) he let us know the bar was open and so it was there we met Brian, the amazing bartender and the hotels historian ( he'd been working there 43 years and had single-handedly survived Katrina on site) there are pictures on the walls of the bar of all the celebrities that have stayed there including Debra Harry, Joan Baez , Billy Joel and even Greg from the Brady Bunch. The bar also sported an indoor patio which overlooked the saltwater pool where several 20-30 year olds were enjoying an evening swim. The entire vibe here was chill and we were delighted to learn that it is haunted although Brian is a non/believer.The room rates are surprisingly reasonable-the location is spot on and walking distance to Frenchman Street. Another huge bonus is that the hotel sports its own ample parking lot which is a rare gem in the French quarter, Stay here!!!

The Completely renovated rooms are nice BUT no lounge or bar to socialize at, very sad bc it used to be fabulous before it sold( or was renovated) I do hope it reopens eventually this end of Chartres needs a classy warm little bar.

This was a very nice vintage French style hotel. The front desk workers were always polite and helped save us money on parking. The only con I had was no fridge.

I sort of picked this hotel randomly and it exceeded my expectations. It is huge, taking over the whole block, but you wouldn't know it. The courtyard is amazing with a pool, and coffee in the morning. The staff were all very helpful. This hotel is within walking distance to any place you might like to go, except for a swamp tour. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars, and maybe this isn't fair given the charm of an older hotel, but we found we needed to plan to use hot water 15 minutes or more before we needed it. We got used to it. Would definitely stay again.

A perfectly located quaint old hotel in the quiet part of the Quarter. Nice, well-appointed rooms with comfortable beds. Many rooms have private balconies.Nice outdoor pool - alas, unheated, but it does heat up quickly on a sunny day for those who don't mind a chilly dip.Prepayment is an option for budget travellers.I'm told the charming little bar and restaurant will be re-opening soon.
