Love this park and so glad to be back home. Now, I can get into my regular walking routine. The park is renovating their smaller baseball fields which is a great thing. The pics of the new field below looks amazing. I believe the Baby Cake baseball team is leaving to Wichita, KS but their field remains to be occupied with the team games through 2020. The Saints and Pelicans share space across the street but back to this name, Baby Cakes...why?? The New Orleans Baby Cakes (formerly the New Orleans Zephyrs) are a Minor League Baseball of the Pacific Coast League and the Triple-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins. They are located in Metairie and play their home games at the Shrine on Airline. I'm still trying to picture teammates slapping each other on the rear saying, "Good job Baby Cakes!" IJS...

Lasalle Park doesn't offer much to do except exercise along the jogging path or walk along the nature center promenade. It is a clean park though so that is always good. If you are looking for a tranquil place to relax or a quiet place to jog this park fits the bill quite well. In fact you feel quite isolated if you're jogging here as I have rarely ever seen more than 30ppl here at the same time. If you are coming to the park to entertain the kiddos they will get bored here rather quickly as there is no kids playground, no ponds, no ducks, no carousels, no rides, etc. You get the picture. There are softball and soccer fields but I believe those are for organized competition only and not for recreational use. I have never seen anyone use those fields except during league play. I still like this park though because it is quiet and they do have a small sculpture garden. Most of the time, though, I prefer lots of activity around me so I prefer parks with lots of people around.

It's come to my attention lately that I have put on a few pounds in the past 18 months to 2 years. Ok more like I have become pleasantly plump and 1 cupcake away from being a lard ass. This is why my check ins are less about food places and more about parks and the like. Anyway Lasalle park is a decent park. There are 4 baseball/softball fields that are very well kept up, a bunch of soccer fields for the kiddos, a nature trail, and more park benches per capita than any other park that I have ever been to. The jogging trail is rather nice. There is a 1mile track around the actual park itself and a 1.8 mile addition if you run the path around Zephyrs Field and the Saint's complex. If you do a figure 8 between the 2 tracks than you will need to do your own mathmatical equations to figure it out. The track is less busy than that of near by Lafreniere Park. You won't have to dodge frisbees and baby strollers on this track. There are 2 things about this park that I don't like. 1 is the noise. I was sitting on one of their benches reading recently and had to leave because I couldn't focus on the book. There is a train car transfer station right behind the park and the screeching and banging of the cars can get annoying if you are here at the wrong time. Another thing is trying to access the park via David Drive is a nightmare so don't do that. Pull in by the Saints facility. You may run into one of the players and almost wreck into them while they are looking at their phone and drifting into you lane. I'm not going to say his name but it rhymes with Cam Jordan.

With a paved wide sidewalk walking area to use, We love to go here to walk. There are maps that you can plan the distance for your walk. You can choose the one mile loop or the 1.8 mile loop.Do it once twice or as many times as you want.Don't worry if you are hot and tired there are plenty of benches to stop and rest and water fountains also. There are stretch and exercise areas to stop and either pretend you are doing something or actually for real be doing it.As you walk you may see soccer being played or baseball being played, and if you are lucky maybe you will see the New Orleans Saints practicing. If you like trains park yourself on one of the park benches by the train transfer station. The one problem I see with this park is when it rains there is a lot of standing water in the grass.

Great boardwalk of about a quarter mile that cuts through the woods for workouts under the tree canopy on hot days. The outside blacktopped path is 3 miles approx running from Hickory all the way to Saints headquarters. Only draw back is theres no coverage. Two small workout stations anchor the left side of the park which is home to soccer fields and two softball/baseball fields. the other side of the park is home to the stadium that was home to the Babycakes minor league baseball team and a policeprecinct. across on the opposite side bordering the soccer fields is the Jefferson parish performing Arts complex which is a constant busy hub of activity. All in all much more navigatable than Lafreneire park and dog owners generally walk their pets on leashes.

Clean and well paved running/walking path. However, if you have small children who want to play on swings and slides this is not the place for you.

Lasalle park is located right by Zephyrs stadium in Metairie. While its much smaller than most parks, it has everything you really need. It's never crowded so walking or running is nice and has ample parking. It has a 1 mile loop and a 2 mile loop and about half of either trail is covered with trees which can be forgiving on a hot summer day. The park has two different areas for stretching or working out. It is dog friendly so they have plastic bags for owners to pick up after their pets. As a dog owner I appreciate this since I sometimes forget to bring my own bags. They also have doggie drinking fountains. They recently added more picnic tables and a nature walk. The nature walk is basically a more secluded pathway through the forresty area, its pretty cool. I hope to see this park continue to develop.

Nestled along Airline right next to the Saint's training center is Lasalle Park. They have really done a nice job of creating a multi-function park that includes walking trails and 4 softball fields. The complex is modern and clean. While I was there at a softball tournament I still noticed a lot of locals walking the trails and peering into the league play. The concession vendors were standard ball park food, but were very friendly. Their grounds staff was also prompt in removing trash and preparing fields for the next day. It was a really well-run place according to what I experienced this past weekend.

So love this park it's never over crowded so when I'm going for my daily walk it's always very peaceful and since there is a police station it's very safe. All the guys who keep it up are very friendly to always say hello when they pass you.

we often walk there and are noticing more folks walking their dogs in the evenings not picking up behind them . and you have to pay attention using the crosswalks , because the cars and trucks dont stop are yield to people in them . they have a posted speed of 20mph and seeing all the parking in the grass with all the hard surface available , hard to believe that JPSO has a 3rd District office in it . and all this is unnoticed
