I've been living in New Orleans now 4 years and although the food here in amazing, besides the occasional pop-ups, it's pretty hard to get good, authentic Latin Caribbean food the way grandma used to make it. Well, it's New Years day and I woke up completely hung over and had to work. I'd been eyeing this spot online for a while and knew that if anything would cure this hangover, it'd be some Dominican food. I drove over and its a small hole in the wall spot in a shopping plaza. I can tell it's probably jumping in the evenings (especially since it stays open super late). I was met with the grandmother who greeted me warmly and asked what I wanted to eat. "Tres Golpes (the three strikes)" I said. She sat me down and went back into the kitchen. He grandson came over and brought me a delicious Morir Sonando (orange juice with condenced milk). I could smell the mangu, sausage, fried cheese and eggs even before it came out and my mouth watered. It was unbelievably delicious! I ordered a sancocho to go for lunch and can't wait to eat it! I definitely recommend this spot to cure a hangover or if you're ever in the mood for some good homecooked Dominican food!

OhMyGawd.Let's just say if the place was graded on food it would be a 10 star. It's so flavorful!!!!!The only negatives is they don't all speak English and it's a hole in a wall place to some or a family restaurant to many. Either way the food knocked me out for 5 hours .. that is what we call the itis!I recommend everyone to try this deliciousness!!!!

This place is kind of a trip. I came here not really knowing what I was getting into: there is no menu online and I was just getting food here based on Yelp reviews. It was a Friday night and I wanted some take out, so I decided this was as good a night as any for an adventure. So, I stopped in and they are blasting merengue/salsa music. I get it: it's Friday night- time to party. The waitress handed me a menu and I knew right then this place was legit- the menu is completely in Spanish. I noticed they had a Cuban sandwich, so I pointed to it (the waitress didn't speak English very well) and I gave her the signal for "to go" and I sat and waited. The food came out pretty quickly and I was on my way.I got home and dug into the sandwich. WHOA! Okay, this is pretty delicious. This isn't what I would call a "classic" Cuban, but it was delicious shredded pork and cheese on pressed bread, so I was pretty happy. The sandwich was really big and came with a side a fries; it was a total steal at $9.If I'm being honest, if I was dining in, the music would have been a little much for me. It's a small place and it was blasting, but hey- run your business how you want. I was really happy with my take out experience and I would absolutely stop back in and get that sandwich again.

The food was good but I paid almost $20 for a can soda and garlic shrimp with a side of tostones. I got in the car and drove off without checking and when I finally did, the shrimp (all 8 of the baby shrimp) was in the "side dish" container and I got a plate full of tostones and some salad. It was a TOTAL waste of my money ! And I'm still hungry smh. I tried calling the place back but the phone was down. Don't waist your money unless you can sit there and eat to rectify any problems.

I was highly disappointed. I read reviews and didn't expect the service to be great, but wow it was B.A.D. we were one of two tables and they had one man at the bar for a to go order. It seemed like it took a while just to order and get drinks. We ordered the steak and onions, stewed beef with rice & beans and platano maduro. After a while of waiting the guy at the bar was leaving with his order, then the waitress came and told us they were starting on ours...WTF! We were hangry when we got the food and it was nasty. We've had much better meals from the hot bar at Ideal market. To top it all off, the owner wouldn't honor our restaurant.com certificate. He claims he bought this place 3 months ago. I would have given that idiot owner 0 stars. He has NO clue how to run a restaurant! Do not waste your time at that dump. Garbage!

We ate here lastnight 5/24/16 food was really good and server was really good..they did add gratuity to our check which there were only 5 of us and we didnt notice until after we had left and already left a large rip at the table..the prices are a high..the menu is only in spanish and has no descriptions of the food or what comes with the food. Music was loud but we didnt mind. Overall it was good but we will probably not go back just because we live in Metairie.

Agree with Nelida, this place is getting better and better each week. This is one of the few places for Dominican food in the NOLA area, let alone on the West Bank. I usually have the Chuletas (Pork Chops) or Pechuga a la Plancha (Pan-grilled Chicken Breast) with Moro de Gandules (Yellow Rice with Green Peas). Very well-seasoned. Tables are arranged for groups of 4 and 8, and a seating area at the bar. This is also one of the few places in NOLA to have a Presidente beer or Brugal rum. A Dominican TV channel broadcasts TV shows and baseball games, and they're working on getting some live merengue music in on Saturday nights. Great food, great service, and a friendly ambiance.

One of the worst Service! just bad. I walked in and no one but a child sitting at the bar alone. I had to walk to the kitchen to get someone's attention. I ordered the mofongo with longaniza ( the mofongo was dry and it appears that they ran out of longaniza because I had 5 to 6 small overcooked pieces. The salad was full of water and no dressing on it or offered. We also ordered fried chicken & tostones. ( chicken es mostly bones).I asked for garlic sauce or ketchup something to dip my tostones and mofongo in ( there was not even salt and pepper on the table). The server came back with a weird yellow looking sauce ( I didn't feel comfortable trying it).The whole experience was Disappointed, I expected more.
