Lamothe House is situated on the outskirts of the French Quarter, and I enjoyed my stay here while visiting New Orleans. It fits the vintage 18th-19th Century style of many buildings in the area and is within walking distance of Lafitte's Blacksmith bar. The surrounding neighborhood is kind of quiet compared to the Quarter itself. The room I stayed in was really nice. I also enjoyed the pool outside. If you are looking for a smaller hotel off the beaten path, I'd definitely recommend Lamothe House.

Well...I can only give this place two stars for the location and the folks sitting at the desk who tried to help a helpless situation. We arrived to a room with a shower that took about 30 minutes for warm water, THEN, it only trickled. We did our best, told the front desk, and were never called as promised. The next day, we had not electricity (the electricity was being worked on in the area?) from 8am-3pm (thankfully we read the slip of paper they gave us to know this...and were up and at 'em first thing) and as we left our room, they were jackhammering and working on the pool. That night, after another no call, we begged for a different room, and received a room with a much improved shower. We booked 5 nights, and it is beyond me why the management is not empowering the front office to simply move us immediately. (I could see on line that there were empty/available rooms). Finally, we never had coffee...the gal at the front desk gave my husband her personal 'pod' of coffee. Management-do better-give your front desk the confidence to made decisions and move and improve room assignments immediately. Finally, we had a mouse in our room, but this is to be expected in a building this old.

The location of this hotel is great for exploring the French quarter, unfortunately I can't recommend it for multiple reasons.I went with a group of friends and none of us were happy with our rooms. After visiting each other's rooms, we noticed it's very much hit or miss. Some of them are nice while others are very small with no windows, mold in the shower, no space for a second nightstand or even a single chair. The person sleeping on the heater's side gets air blowing in the face during the night, not very pleasant. It seems that the entire place needs serious work to be up to the standards we expect when booking a "Deluxe King room" as shown on the pictures. We also discovered some of us were put in a separate building, across from a street behind the hotel, didn't feel safe at night.Suite 408, located in that building behind the hotel was nice and spacious, but with so many stains all over the couch and chairs I didn't dare sit on it.The only positive about this stay was Jonathan at the reception very nice, and trying his best to improve our stay. He's amazing!I would not go back, it was a huge disappointment!

This was such a gorgeous hotel to stay in. While it's not near the crazyness of Bourbon Street...it's not far either...only about a 10 minute walk! I booked this hotel off of Orbitz.com. Which means that my room preference may not be available upon check-in. I had booked a queen bed room. Upon check-in I was told that room wasn't available and we were going to be given a room with two full beds. We obviously didn't want that. Javi, who was checking us in, told us what else was available and offered to show us more rooms. She also said there's a bigger room, but it needs to be cleaned. She showed us 3 rooms and we decided on the bigger room. I felt bad that she would have to clean it, but she said it wouldn't take that long. So we left our stuff at the front and went to grab some grub, based on her recommendations. We were out for a bit and when we went back we found that she not only cleaned the bigger room but she also brought our bags as well. She also told us that we can stay in that room for the first night but she has upgraded us to an even bigger room for the rest of our stay! The bigger room was amazing! Queen bed, three TV's, and two couches (one in a separate room and one when you walk in) Plus all amenities...shampoo, conditioner, body wash, fridge, hair dryer, and iron and board. The bed was very comfy and the shower was nice and hot! Service by Javi was impeccable! The hotel is so cute. I don't understand any negative reviews on here. My boyfriend and I are already talking about staying here whenever we are back in New Orleans. 5+ stars all the way!

Very quaint, old fashioned hotel. Felt like a a larger bed and breakfast (without the breakfast unfortunately). Not very updated, but that's part of its charm. The lobby / checkin area is on the 2nd floor which is an interesting set up. I like that they lock the door for security, so you need to buzz in or have your room key when you get to the hotel. We were greeted by Justin when we checked in; he was super eager to tell us about New Orleans via map and make us feel welcome. He willingly fetched things we needed like extra soaps or towels when we requested. We got the 6 person suite which was very spacious. It was nice to have separate bedrooms for some privacy and reducing noise if the other room wants to watch TV. I will say we loved hearing music from Frenchman street a few blocks away while hanging out on our back balcony, but when we tried to fall asleep around 1am not so much lol. Luckily I was able to sleep through it but I know if my husband was on the trip this would have been difficult for him. We were nervous when we found out our suite only had 1 bathroom figuring showers would be difficult to work out amongst 5 of us, but it definitely helped they have a bathroom (toilet)downstairs if need be. I knew about the pool but had no idea they had a HOT TUB!!! until I got there. That was a pleasant surprise. Pool is not heated so if the temp is cooler it's a nice option. Another plus of this hotel is we found it very convenient to everything we intended to do. Only a few blocks from royal street, Frenchman, and bourbon street. We only needed a ride when going to/from airport and Mardi Gras world.

I stayed in one of the satellite suites and it was nice! Didn't have any windows and I did hear some kind of tapping sound at night (old water pipes? bugs? idk), but it was clean and quiet -- not sure where all the negative reviews on here regarding those two things came from lol. We also loved the stray cats who hang out outside -- they're shy but eventually warm up to you if you stay long enough!Minus a star because the hot tub was kinda dirty and too cold to sit in :( But overall a nice stay in a great location. I got Covid during this trip and it was so bad that the doctor thinks I might have broken a rib from coughing, but this hotel helped to make the trip worth it :)

Historic hotel located on dividing line between the French Quarter and the Faubourg Marigny neighborhoods. Built in 1840s by enslaved master craftsmen. More modern facilities added behind main house, along with pool and hot tub. Secure off-street parking. Courteous helpful staff, particularly Michael, who could not have been more thoughtful.
