I love the Greenway! Lafitte Greenway is a 2.6 mile trail for pedestrians and bicycles located in New Orleans from Louis Armstrong Park to Bayou St. John and beyond. I Love the special events and fitness sessions hosted on Greenway and how the trail welcomes all users. Great for walking, running, biking and simply enjoying the beautiful space. I especially love the stretch near French Truck Coffee!!! Check out my review of the coffee shop as well.

Fun pathway to take a walk! You can stop by different businesses too. One of my faves is French Truck Coffee.

I discovered the Lafitte Greenway was right by my house after a week of living in New Orleans and what an awesome discovery! The trail goes all the way to the back of Armstrong Park (2.6 mi). I walk my dogs here most weekdays. Lots of bikers use the path to get to work on weekdays, occasionally I see a few school kids too. Everyone always seems friendly.A few concerns that I have are the litter (but it's cleaner than a lot of other area)-broken and discarded bottles and broken street lights (which can make it dangerous). I'm not sure I would walk here alone at night. That being said, I've used the path to get to several restaurants (Parkway is right off the path), the Mid City post office and I've walked to the French Quarter this way! It's a great (& much safer way) to get around than being on the street!

This is a convenient and scenic way to cut between the French quarter and the periphery of NOLA. I think it should be in more tour guides about the city.

We had a hard time finding the beginning of the trail on the basin side of things - which is a bit embarrassing looking back on it. We are visiting for a month and are runners, this looked like a great trail to get familiar with another part of New Orleans. It was great. We felt safe the entire way. People were REALLY kind. Bikers told you when they were on your left and passing, cars stopped for you - without you having to press the button, I'm still like shocked and thinking this was a one off, but really impressed all the same. We didn't make it all the way to City Park because of distance and timing, but I have every intention of coming back and we found a wine spot we want to go to on the way back next time. I'm totally impressed with this pathway and getting a view into the neighborhoods and the artistic graffiti you see along the way.

About 8000 steps and running through Mid-City from City Park(ish) to the French Quarter(ish). A fantastic paved walking and bike path where you can run, walk, bike, exercise, or leisurely stroll. The Greenway passes several bars, restaurants, coffee shops, grocery stores and breweries if you want to use it as a cut through for hoping from spot to spot. There's the fit lot and a few other play spaces, along with large fields for activities like kickball, soccer, and soft ball. Friends of the Greenway also hosts a number of fitness, environmental and arts programming. Additionally, along the path is a bioswale serving to help mitigate flooding in the area. Wonderful way to experience New Orleans!

The Lafitte Greenway is so under utilized in this city. It's an amazing public space. There's a bike and pedestrian trail that runs through many neighborhoods. It's a really nice place to ride your bike. There's two FitLots and three playgrounds along the Greenway. They have lots of events out there also. I've also seen a hawk out there which was cool. The BMike mural along the Greenway is truly beautiful. There are a bunch of businesses like Hey Coffee Co. and Wrong Iron that are lovely to stop by when taking the Greenway.

Great outdoor space. Quick trip on a bicycle gets you from the French Quarter all the way to (almost) City Park. Breweries, bars, and restaurants along the way to keep you hydrated and fed. Nicely maintained soccer/football field, baseball/softball diamonds. It's much better since they installed wooden barriers to keep vehicles from driving up onto to grass. The occasional tree planting doesn't go unnoticed either. In the future I hope to see some more shaded areas for relaxing during the day and hopefully a fenced in dog run for our furry friends.

They really did a lovely job with this stretch of bike, blade, walking-friendly pathway. It's nice how well maintained it is, and the width is enough that you can bike alongside a friend or not feel like you're going to run into the people coming from the opposite direction. I have yet to make it a long distance on the Greenway, but looking forward to using it more often. The hazard signals to cross the busier streets is very much appreciated though not everyone pays attention to them (folks, I'm talking to you, you texting and driving folks). I don't necessarily think I'd bike this route later on in the evening, and didn't see whether or not it was lit (which would be a lovely edition in the future if it's not). There are some areas that are quieter and behind warehouse buildings, so if you're biking on your own during later hours, be aware of your surroundings. So ask a friend to go for a ride or break out the blades, because that po'boy ain't gonna burn itself off!

Beautiful path to travel on foot, and on wheels. I've followed this project from its inception as a call for a green public space, to the legal battle with the city to acquire the land, through to the drafting of the design for the path (Shoutout to Bart Everson and Dan Samuels!). I couldn't be happier with how it's turned out, and I look forward to watching the trees planted all alongside the trail (still saplings as of today) grow and provide the shade required to mitigate the humidity and blazing hot summer sun in New Orleans for years to come. An investment in public place-making designed for people, like the Lafitte Greenway, might seem frivolous to some, especially in these lean economic times, but the social and economic return is just as real, if not as measurable in dollars. First, it augments the attractiveness of the neighborhood, which incentivizes visitors and generates interest in the area. This causes property values to rise and businesses in the area (like the Carrolton shopping center near the City Park end of the Greenway) to thrive. It also creates a safe space for people to simply enjoy themselves and appreciate the space. This fosters a sense of community and belonging, and improves the emotional well-being of residents and visitors. The Greenway also improves physical health of people because walking, running, unicycling, and biking are great forms of exercise! The environmental impact of trees and designated green spaces also cannot be discounted. And the best thing about the Greenway is, since no one owns it, everyone owns it. Everyone belongs.I am proud of my city and neighborhood for investing in its people and environment. Thank you to everyone who worked to create this beautiful community gathering place!
