La Chilanga Taco House

I went here on a Tuesday because they were supposed to have a dj starting at 7:00pm. We were seated quickly with old menus and told our waitress would be there shortly, however this was not the case and we waited a little bit for her to get to our table. (The restaurant was half full so the excuse of there wasn't enough staff/too many customers isn't going to cut it. Our waitress did not introduce herself so I do not know who gave us poor service during our visit. There was another young woman working as a waitress and she came and checked on us more than our own waitress who had no problem eating while we were waiting for her to help us. The queso was bland and the salsa looked more like ketchup with a mix of salsa. The tacos were ok,as well as the margaritas. We were told the dj would start at 7 but when 7 finally rolled around, he wasn't even there. He finally showed up as we were leaving which I believe was approximately around 7:20pm. I will not be back again.

Food was very authentic. I ordered enchiladas verdes and they were great! Definitely recommend if you're looking for authentic Mexican food!

I've been here twice now, and both times were great, so thought I'd leave a review. This place is home to my new favorite margarita and choriqueso! Best margaritas, not too sweet or sour. I've tried the frozen and on the rocks, the frozen is a little sweeter, so rocks is better in my opinion. The choriqueso is delicious, creamy, not too thick or runny, and the chorizo is well flavored. As far as the entrees go, I've tried the chicken quesadilla, birria tacos, and campechano tacos. All were very good! I will say their salsa is not my favorite, definitely different, but I still enjoy it. The waitresses are always friendly and attentive, and always seat us immediately. The music can be a little loud sometimes, but not that big of a deal. I like the lighting in the restaurant! Overall, fun place with great margaritas and tasty food. No complaints :)

Heard this place had a good student discount and good is underselling it. I had 2 tacos and a marg for $8. My friend had 3 tacos, a marg and flan for $10. And my other friend had 3 tacos and 3 margs for $12. (Basically, the more you spend the greater the discount - with your student ID). It's a steal and the food was pretty good.The atmosphere of the restaurant is also really fun. There's a lot of cool paintings and murals on the walls so lots of cute photo spots. I'm excited to show this place to more people. Happy I've found a new taco Tuesday spot!

Be careful when you eat here. I sat down and ate with only one other person and was charged with a 18% gratuity that is only supposed to be applied to a 4 top or more. Food was great just didn't like getting scammed.

The food was good. The star of the visit was the Michilada of dos x I had. It was fulfilling. To start choriqueso, don't get the tort they are store bought, it's better with chips great taste.The VIP that was to die for 3 meats and the sides are ok.. salad ughhh, desert flan and churros...flan ok and churros ok....I also took aguachiles home to be continued on this dish..Take a chance at this place great service and Saturdays they have kareeyokee

The food is amazing! This place is new and I was so excited to finally find authentic Mexican food in Baton Rouge. They have typical Mexican options, as well as a variety of unique dishes to choose from. I really loved the chorizo queso and the birria tacos. I will definitely be back to try more things!

Birria birriaaaaa, it reminds me of a west side storyyyy. Dip it in the juicy consomeee, then added a dab of some tasty hot sauceee. Ohhh...you get the idea. Those birria tacos were delicious! I went with a large group, and we had to wait a bit, but not a soul was disappointed in the results.My sweet tooth kicked in, and I also got the churros. They were tasty as well. Will I return? Yes! Will I get the birria tacos again? Yes...I just remixed a song talking about them. C'mon people. Go try it!

Have you ever had a restaurant or eatery that you tried on a whim and was pleasantly surprised? Well, this was the place. I have passed this place for months, located at the old Fizzy's, in the old Winn-Dixie shopping center, next to Mom's on the Corner of Burbank and Lee Drive.The waiters greeted you nicely and were attentive. The queso was flavorful, the chicken, shrimp, and tongue tacos were exceptionally authentic in flavor. Their top-shelf margarita required me to get another to take home.This is no Tex-Mex and I will return with others who appreciate quality, authentic Mexican style food at a reasonable price. My two sons give it a double thumbs up. We will return to try the other menu items.

The food was really amazing! I got the nachos with chicken and it was delicious. The chicken wasn't overcooked at all and my dad got the brisket tacos and they looked awesome and he loved them coming from a man who cooks brisket for a living sometimes. The manager helped us the whole time and got us everything we needed like sauce and queso without even asking. Ambiance was great me and my dad were banging our heads to it while eating cause it's Spanish club like music which we both love.
