Our server Jackson was amazing. We tried a lot of the happy hour items and everything was good. They must've done something different with their steak, the meat of the steak taco melts in your mouth. And as always, the choriqueso never disappoints. :)

Stopped in LaCarreta this last week for a last minute bite to eat. LaCarreta is a MidCity staple! Their lunch and happy hour specials are great! On this day, I had a strawberry margarita and the classic steak nachos! The serving was pretty big, perfect for sharing! I know I'll be back because they are consistently good!

Love this local spot. Always consistently good service and food. I tried the cauliflower tacos last week and they are delicious! Really fresh with corn tortillas. Black bean soup was spicy and flavorful. They also have a great skinny margarita. And if you're looking for outdoor ambiance this is the place! Their patio is adorable with fire pits and tons of seating and colorful decor. This continues to be one of my favorite local spots for fast fresh Mexican food.

Kaycee was great! We came for the saints game. She was very attentive and sweet. We started with the tortilla and black bean soup, then split the chicken and steak fajitas. Everything was delicious!

Got some food delivered from here; I like carretas in another city so I figured it was good here. The ceviche was surprisingly good; they gave me shrimp instead of mixto but it was still yummy. Very flavorful, i just wish the chunks of raw onion werent so big and they gave you more than one tostada to eat it on.The fajitas were meh. It was the same price as other, better tex mex places but not as tasty and smaller portions. Not enough tortillas to eat it all in. They gave me a side salsa and it was so tiny and bland I felt like it was just a waste of plastic to package it up. Nothing in the box had any flavor except the caramelized onions. The tiny amount of guac was bland too. Had to add seasoning to the beans. There's a lot of tex mex in BR, don't bother going to this chain.

People from work love this place.Before I start this review I need to provide you with a caveat. I do enjoy Mexican food but it is not my favorite cuisine. What does this mean for you? Well, it doesn't really mean anything to you specifically. What I mean is that when I end up here it is because I have grown tired of deciding where to go and leaving the choice up to my co-workers.La Carreta is not bad. In fact, it is a decent place to get Mexican food for lunch. My go-to order is the fajitas, usually steak fajitas. I hear if you eat a bunch of red meat it is really good for you which is why I chose this item. The fajitas are decent but have never blown me away with flavor. I would say they are pretty standard fajitas. Me, I like fajitas that are super flavorful and these just don't do it for me.The shining star of Carreta is their wait staff. Every time we have visited we have had a great server. We usually have a large group and they handle us with ease. Parking is also easy and plentiful.

Arrived @ 6:45pm for dinner tonight with a business associate. La Carreta was recommended by the hotel front desk. Seated quickly and server approached the table quickly. She made an entree suggestion, asked about appetizers and took our beverage order. We ended up eating a Carne Asada and the Pollo Loco. Both were nicely cooked, presented well, tasty, made from fresh ingredients and we enjoyed them. The grilled veggies (Zukes, Yellow, Broccoli, Carrots) were cooked perfectly. I got a Flan to go as well. It was a tad over cooked on one side - I suspect they do not use a water bath when cooking. Also the caramel sauce, made from caramelized sugar, could have been cooked slightly longer, as the sugar still had a little grit to it. The Flan was good - it just could have been monumental.The restaurant was well appointed and very clean. Glad we dined here tonight.Edit: Ate here on Tuesday 08-29 as well for dinner. All great during that dinner as well.

I don't understand how this place is still open. The prices are sky high for some mediocre "Mexican" food. I ordered the dinner combo plate with one enchilada and one tamale, for $14 there should have been more food on the plate. Our server at the end of the dinner, when she handed us the check had an extra fajita plate charge that no one at our table ordered. When we asked her about the charge she stated, it was left over from the table before us and as someone that has served before I know you don't just have left over expenses pop up on other tables tickets... very sketchy service.The restaurant is dirty and definitely needs an update, the floors were sticky and gross, and the place just felt dirty. I'd rather travel on down the road for better food.

This one was hard. I love, love the little sneaky patio in the back. Sure it isn't sizeable but the flora and tiled artwork are just great. I also love the strawberry mules they have but not the $11 price tag. Also, service is pretty decent and they have free chips and salsa.But the food, the food is pretty blah. I had the enchiladas. They were just really bland. The only thing decently seasoned was maybe the pinto beans.I will go again for a happy hour for a beer or margarita but I will not go with a empty stomach.
