In town overnight and wanted a nice easy dinner that tastes great. This was it! The reviews got me here and did not disappoint. The owners are clearly hard working and deliver a great meal. I'll be back! Also took an order of house special Fried rice to go. Fantastic.

Besides the best sushi and fried rice in Hammond Kyoto carries 2 flavors of Hata soda (strawberry and orange). Hata soda is a lightly flavored carbonated drink. The shape of the glass bottle is so unique and there's a marble inside the drink to help retain the carbonation. Ask the Kyoto workers any questions about it before you leave the restaurant because everything on the bottle is written in Japanese. I recycled my empty/clean Hata bottles with bottled water and put them in the refrigerator for future use.

DoorDashed Lunch 11-17-2022 - Sushi+Hibachi Pre-OrderedFor @1pm DeliverySUSHI = 4 out of 5 StarsHIBACHI = 4 out of 5 StarsPic #1 = Our Full OrderPic #2 = App: Shumai (6 pieces) - Shrimp/Fried @$7.25Small Fried (or Steamed) Shrimp Balls, much like a fried fish cake. Although they were tasty (sauce=no real taste), imho at 6 very small pieces not worth the price. I'll get a diff app in the future. Pic #3 = Scallop Hibachi @$21.50 =Scallops were pretty small, but bigger than 2 Other Local Hibachi's*{1}, and there was more scallops than other Hibachis vendors. The Scallops were cooked properly, meaning they were cooked, but soft!, and they were NOT over-cooked, dry or rubbery. Kudos to the Chef! The Hibachi also came with veggies mixed into the meat side (Carrots, Broccoli, and Onions - more onions than the other veggies), and in a brown sauce. The included fried rice was also the tastiest out of the 4 Local Hibachi's I've tried, while it was only rice and some egg bits (no veggies), their fried rice still tasted the best.{*1}Pic #4 = Steak & Shrimp Hibachi @$22.50Overall Very Impressed & Worth the Cost. The Steak (ordered Med Well) was perfectly cooked, consisted of Large Pieces of Meat, obviously recognizable as Steak. The Shrimp was also impressive (not that pre-boiled tasteless junk others use), consisting of Large Recognizable Beautifully Pink Shrimp! As with the other Hibachi it included:Fried Rice (Tasty!), Veggies in with the protein/meats (Good but not much), and a green "salad" (ONLY a FEW iceberg lettuce leaves+dressing=Not an actual "salad")Pic #4 & Pic #5 = Green "Salad" included with Hibachi Entrees. The "salad" literally consisted of a few iceberg lettuce leaves and that is all, it is NOT a "salad", it is just some plain lettuce, and an embarrassingly small amount. One container literally made us laugh, because it had maybe 8 small pieces of cut up iceberg lettuce next to two dressing containers (and that was it!), dunno why they thought one would need that much dressing for only a few pieces of lettuce. It looked like whomever put the "dressing" containers in the salad container, added the dressings first & then just added a 1/2 helping of salad beside them.PIC #7. = SUSHI ORDER = A). Eel Cucumber Roll (6 Pieces) @$6.55 =Tastes Good. More Cucumber than Eel/Unagi taste (You can also see that there is a lot of cucumber and very little Unagi/Eel in the roll.) I have to say that I was disappointed in the lack of Unagi/Eel. I should have mainly tasted the Unagi, and not the cucumber, which was not the case. Compared to other local Sushi Vendors, the this Eel Cucumber Roll's price was a few dollars cheaper, which maybe accounts for the lack of Eel/Unagi when compared to other local Sushi Vendors, who put more Eel/Unagi in their Eel/Unagi Rolls. I would prefer to pay more and get & taste more Unagi/Eel in my roll. No, I would not order this Sushi Roll again.B) Tuna Avocado Roll (6 Pieces) @$6.65 = A Standard Tuna Roll, Better than or Equal to Other Local Sushi Vendor's Tuna Rolls. Price Comparison is Less Most Other Local Sushi Vendors for equivalent Tuna Roll. Yes, I would order this Sushi Roll again.C) Rainbow Roll (8 Pieces) @$13.85 = This "Rainbow Roll" is the equivalent to other Local Sushi Vendor's Dragon Rolls, Jazzed Up California Roll, etc. Ingredient wise, the Sushi tasted Good, Fresh, and was very Enjoyable. Cost Comparison = This roll was Less than and/or Equal cost as equivalent rolls by other vendors. YES! I would order this Sushi Roll Again - Without Hesitation! This was my FAVORITE Sushi Roll of my order. Also, this type of roll is my favorite where ever I order sushi, so I always try to find a sushi roll like this one (ingredients+preparation wise, regardless of what that specific Sushi Vendor may call the roll). YES! I would order this Sushi Roll Again!!* COST, QTY, TASTE REVIEW = Price wise, I believe that Kyoto's does pretty well compared to other local vendors. For Our overall bill, we received a decent amount of food. * The SUSHI PRICING is either LOWER (and/or EQUAL) compared to other Vendors.* The HIBACHI PRICING is HIGHER (or EQUAL) to other Vendors. * The QUANTITY OF FOOD = You receive a fair amount (EQUAL) of rice, and FEWER to More Veggies, but You do receive more of a variety of veggies instead of just one type (broccoli) of veggie.*QUALITY/TASTE = Overall I pleased with our order, and the Steak+Shrimp Hibachi was definitely worth the price. Next time, I'll be ordering the Shrimp Hibachi! The fried rice, only rice+egg, still best flavored of fried rices experienced. More veggies in rice, but didn't add to taste. More mixed veggie+better flavor vs. others. Although not much veggies included(for Scallop Hibachi majority was large onion pieces.)Good Luck! & Bon Appetite!* {1} = Comparing Local Asian Food Vendors (Hibachi Entree's): Asian Fusion, Nagoya's Japanese + OEC Japanese.

I don't like how 2 years into a pandemic they still don't have the inside open. They still have a raggedy door you open to place your card in and receive your food. I got the LSU roll and the vegetable fried rice. Rive was good but the LSU roll was drenched in the watery eel sauce that made the bottom a bit soggy. I am annoyed by a few things. I asked for extra onions in my fried rice and I received about 4 slices of onion pieces. Also, I paid for extra eel sauce and spicy Mayo on the side. I got home and seen they gave me yum yum sauce (gross) instead but still charged me the DOLLAR extra for the sauces I did not get. The fact that a DROP of sauce in a cup is a dollar is a bit crazy. Other than the shady atmosphere, soggy sushi, and wrongful charge, the rice was pretty average.

My favorite Japanese place!Their sushi is delicious and the staff is always so sweet when talking to them. I remember one year I had wrote 'happy thanksgiving' on the order thing and they actually called me back to wish me a happy holiday! The staff is beyond sweet and always willing to fix anything that's wrong.

This was my first time trying Kyoto. It was also my first time eating a deep fried roll. They have a meat seat up for to go orders. There is a window where they put your food to grab it so no contact is made. This huge roll is under $12. It has crab, cream cheese, crawfish in soy paper and deep fried. I'm a huge fan of cream cheese so I enjoyed it. Cream cheese is the prominent taste when biting into it, followed by snow crab. It's covered with spicy mayo and eel sauce. It was filling. I would get again!

How is this place not constantly packed with people is beyond me. The best Japanese cuisine in the Hammond/Ponchatoula area. The prices are reasonable. Our family favourite are the snow crab salad (no crunchy), chicken hibachi w/noodles, clear soup, New Orleans roll and a big chicken fried rice. The inside is small but we always order to go.
