It sucks that I didn't get a decorated plunger for my office but I still enjoyed the parade. If you know me and are asking yourself what in the hell is John doing writing parade reviews, go read my review of Iris. Anyway, I ended up here with my oldest kid and we had fun.The floats were very enjoyable with each having a unique theme and costume. I particularly appreciated the CHIPs float and their cop costumes. I also appreciated the sign that said Vappie Mardi Gras but I don't think the mayor did. Tucks is a parade you should go see. Forget going to that night parade the same day and focus on enjoying yourself in family-friendly uptown. PS One of my life goals is for the mayor to flip me off. Maybe I should ride in Tucks next year.

The Krewe of Tuck's 2020 parade - "Tucks Hits The Sweet Spot"Watched our first parade on the streets of Poydras and Tchoupitoulas -- The Krewe of Tucks. I was, of course, beyond excited to be in New Orleans for my first Mardi Gras experience. As we watched each float pass us by I started to collect beads as they were throwing them to us generously! wow! so much fun trying to catch them as they were only not throwing beads but also lollipops... toilet brushes and plungers... colored toilet paper? I didn't get any of the latter ones. LoL!The floats were satirical and, um, like one of them was a giant toilet that is supposed to be one of their signature floats? Too funny. Some of the floats had fun titles like "Bit-O-Honey Boo Boo," "Blow Pop Suckers," "Gushers," and "Friar's Original Hard Candy."Family-friendly carnival. Do not expose your boobs in this parade, please. There were plenty of children around. Also, Bead Rule No. 1. Do not pick up beads that have fallen on the street or ground for reasons of safety and sanitary reasons. One of my favorite parades... glad we were able to catch this.Review #1735

This is always a fun Mardi Gras parade with a unique theme. Their signature throw is hand decorated toilet brushes. We caught one and were as proud as we could be! Love it!

Please note: Do not expose yourself at this parade. There are families with small children around. Police are nearby and you will be arrested and charged. You will not earn any beads and you will possibly be a felon. My favorite parade. The theme is always the same. Revolves around the toilet. Seriously. They throw different colors of toilet paper, sunglasses in the shape of toilet seats, decorated plungers (of course clean and never used), toilet bowl brushes (also clean and never used). They do have beads, beads and more beads. The Saturday before Mardi Gras, this gets you in the mood for fun.It is always so much fun to watch them throw the toilet paper and have it be everywhere, all over the trees, then kids and adults alike have fun tossing the whole rolls they throw.

Tucks is really fun because of the ridiculous floats and throws. My Mom was excited that I caught the toilet seat sunglasses (yes they have a lid that flips down). I also caught several of the coveted mini-plunger throws...are you seeing the theme? Great marching clubs to accompany the krewe including dragons!

One of the best parades I went to this season! It wasn't overly crowded and they threw so much stuff! I don't think I've ever been to Tucks before--is the theme always toilets? So much decorated TP was thrown, along with plungers and toilet brushes. There was also a kind of disco theme too. All of the riders seemed to be in good spirits and very generous. Hope to catch this parade again next season!

LOVE LOVE LOVE this parade! It is always a blast and so high energy! The riders are generous with their throws and the throws are varied and unique. The throws are toilet themed: plungers, decorated toilet brushes, toilet sunglasses, big granny underwear, etc. You'll want to keep them all! Toilet paper flying through the air, great bands, and energetic dance groups! This parade knows how to have fun and make an impression! Another parade to put in your priority list!

Tucks is a great parade with a good sense of humor and some really creative floats. The central themes seem to be toilets, monks and beer. In my mind, all of those things pretty much go together. I love that these guys throw toilet paper. I also love that I can then use that toilet paper to roll an oak tree right in front of a group of cops. It's like Halloween in bizarro world.

Today is a little day at LOC we like to call Freaky Freaking-Out Day. We are literally shaking in our rain boots due to the fact that we couldn't be more excited that we're six hours away from embarking on a celebration that won't end until Wednesday morning. Seriously. Freaking-Out. But right now isn't about us. It's about you. It's parade time. So, you've got your purple, green and gold on. You've got the ice chest packed. You've already picked up the Popeye's family pack. Now comes the biggest decision of all: Which parade should I go see? While all the parades are worth a watch, not all krewes were created equal. The not so humble opinions of our Carnival vets' mixed in with the fresh-eyed opinions of our newer New Orleanians has resulted in a list of the 10 best parades that'll roll in the next six days. Take notice that all these parades roll through uptown (although they all start, end and wind through the city on their own routes). Therefore, if you don't plan on tracking each parade individually, plan on setting up shop on St. Charles between Louisiana and Napoleon to catch them all. (Due to space limitations, Yelp wouldn't let us post the all 10 descriptions of our top 10 so only the article + 1 description of each top ten parade is posted under its respective review page. Also we know we have a 1-10 ranking system, but we're giving them all 5 stars. Because anything Mardi Gras related receives 5 stars, regardless.) 10) Proteus - (Monday, 5:15pm)9) Mid-City - (Sunday, 11:45am) 8) Rex - (Tuesday, 10:00am) 7) Toth - (Sunday, 12:00pm) 6) d'Etat - (Friday 6:30pm) 5) Orpheus (Monday, 6pm) 4) Tucks (Sunday, 12pm) - The only parade where you don't have to worry about finding a toilet. Since they are part of the parade. Only something you would find in a krewe founded by local college kids; this little gem is bound to make you crack a smile. (Man, we're just as funny as they are! Maybe we should go back to college...) 3) Zulu (Tuesday, 8am) 2) Bacchus (Sunday, 5:15, Uptown)1) Endymion (Saturday, 4:15pm)"Laissez les bon temps rouler" - The Freaky Freaking LOCers

This had to have been one of the funnest parades I went to this year! I got so many throws that it wasn't even funny. The only thing that bothered me were all the freaking ladders lined up next to the parade route. I mean seriously they can move them back a little further. Oh well it is the same dilemma every year. Great fun and great times. Who knows this parade might have been fun if I were sober.
