Please note: Do not expose yourself at this parade. There are families with children around. Police are on hand to arrest those who do not understand.I caught this parade near the beginning, and the riders were not drunk yet! That's not to say they weren't by the end, but still. I liked the floats, but like the previous reviews they seemed to be heavy on the royalty that did not throw much. I stood with a friend and her 3 kids, and it was fun to see it through their eyes. Her kids are kind of shy and got trampled a bit by the more aggressive kids around. The marching bands were good and full of energy. This is the first Uptown parade on the Saturday before the big weekend, and it is a good way to start the day. Just don't get your hopes too high, there will be better parades on this route throughout the day. Parents, please pay attention to your kids so they don't trample smaller or more shy children.

Oshun is the first of the Uptown parades each season and it's not a very large parade. But points to them for fighting it out and keeping their krewe together in tough economic times. The floats actually seemed to be fully occupied this year...which is not always the case.Extra points for having St. Mary's and Xavier Prep marching, they have great bands.

Maybe check out your horse riders to make sure they don't have a history of beating the crap out of their horses where they can hurt other people as well as the horses. It was cool of you to make a statement to the news after they tried to get info from you...oh wait; You didn't.

Another solid run from Oshun. I don't love their royalty to actual float ratio, but they usually have a great mix of smaller marching groups and clever themes. The 2016 theme of "under the sea" (or something like) was actually a good fit for the floats and throws Oshun often has. Some of the floats were finished poorly, but I can't fault the krewe that manages to roll first every year. I think the Tee Eva babydolls were an extra special touch. Not many babydoll groups still exist in New Orleans. It's always exciting to see traditions highlighted in the parades. I did like the floats that had their own djs, and the pairing of Oshun with Cleopatra makes this parade a tasty appetizer and something I enjoy.Ideal beer pairing: Abita Seersucker. Light, crisp, and the perfect opener for a whole season.

Horrible! They throw nothing! One string of beads ever 50-75 feet. Only one band in the entire parade was playing; the rest were just walking. People on the floats were too busy taking pictures of the crowd. This Krewe is more concerned with themselves than putting on a decent parade. Not worth the traffic.

Wasn't overly impressed with this krewe. I saw no medallion beads with their logo. There was hardly any blinky items being thrown. I caught a Bacchus bead! I thought that you couldn't throw items from other krewes? The only thing being thrown that had their krewe's logo on it, was a football. The walking groups were great as well as the bands.

Oshun is alright. This year, due to superbowl arranging of the parades, it rolled on the same night as Cleopatra (the latest to move from the Westbank). It's a short parade, but it's fun for the kids, and not nearly as crowded as some of the larger uptown parades.

Um. No. I don't like parades where the Krewe is more concerned with getting drunk than throwing beads. Tonight we encountered float after float of people literally just waving to the crowd and not doing anything else. It was sad. There were pretty much zero throws from this parade and the riders were obviously only there to drink and throw stuff to their friends. Skip it.

There are certain parades that don't belong Uptown and this is one of them. Way too many royalty floats, riders that don't throw and what little they do are recycled little beads from other krewes.
