King Arthur might be one of my new Favorite daytime parades. I was feeling a bit down because the parade that rolled before King Arthur was so stingy with the throws, and none of the bands were playing. I was about ready to give up on the parade day, and then the King Arthur parade began to roll and everything changed. The floats are so much fun, the bands play, and the krewe was having such a great time we got bombarded with throws!! This is a big deal because I was near the beginning of the parade route and to get bombarded at the beginning is almost unheard of. My friends and I had such a blast at this parade. I will happily pass on the word of this wonderful parade. They filled the afternoon with fun, so I cannot wait until they roll again next parade season!

King Arthur is a solid parade with a much older ridership it seemed. So don't expect too many folks to be able to throw to the back. The floats were fun (but are rented so you'll see them several more times) and the riders were enthusiastic. The bands were trying on this rainy rainy day. Minus points for their preponderance of blue beads bleeding blue all over my hands, my clothes, my house. I know the theme was King Arthur has the Blues, but did you have to give it to the rest of us?And Danon, KA was never a Metairie parade...it used to be on the Westbank.

The Krewe is base on King Arthur and Merlin the magician. This is a Sunday family parade that is friendly to all ages. This year theme is "King Arthur has A Blue" and the throwing flying discs, spears and ball with blue theme. This is about Camelot with the king and magician parade. It starts with the float with King Arthur pulling the Excalibur from the stone, then the Magician Merlin show the magic power in the floats. This is fun float. The Florida Everglades is represented in the floats. The parade is fun and the beads are once again shower to the public. There are several group of the city is represented. The Rhythm's Dance Co, Nyxettex, Deja Vu Dance Team, and Nola Cherry Bomb. There are plenty of beads flying around. There are kid enjoy the moment they were throwing with the stuff toy. The best way to attract more beads or stuff toy is to carry a card board sign like I am from New York, support NYPD, NYFD or NOFD. This is the organization that attract the beads thrower fly the beads in your direction.

2015: FIRST MAJORITY GAY KREWE TOASTS AT GALLIER HALLTrue it's not the most glam. It doesn't have the glitziest throws. But the Krewe of King Arthur is in its adolescence. Founded in 1977 by folks rolling on the West Bank it fell on hard times in the 90's and almost shuttered. To save itself the organization repositioned as the most inclusive (read: gay friendly) Krewe in New Orleans. It is now the largest parade on the first weekend of the traditional route.AND IT'S ABOUT DAMN TIME!158 years after Comus first rolled.106 years after Zulu.82 years after the oldest US gay bar was founded (Café Lafitte's).281 days after Miss Bianca Del Rio won RuPaul's Drag Race...NO TEA NO SHADEIt's time to up the game. There's no reason that a flock of flawless queens can't have the most FABULOUS byzantine floats during Carnival. Can I get an Amen up in here?

I agree with Ryan that I was disappointed with the floats that had like two people. But I still had a great time at this parade.I switched to the sidewalk side from neutral ground side before this parade began, so that might have had something to do with it, but I caught a lot more throws at this parade than at Carrollton or the ones the night before. My absolute favorite part of this parade was one of the dance troupes that had the three guys. Oh my lord they were working it *hard*. I ran to one of them and gave him a couple of my beads. Not entirely sure if they were gay men (my gaydar thought so but of course there's no way for me to really tell), but if they were, I was so glad to see that there was a place for them in the parade.

I went this year. I was not impressed much. The there was hardly any organization with the floats and the adults were taking beads and throws. I even dropped a bag of chee weez that were thrown to me and i went to pick them up and and said to me snooze ya loose....lol pfft its a bag of chips lady not gold. Also while most of the floats were gorgeous...they were barely throwing much of Anything. A big shout out to the Army MP's that help a hotrod that broke down. The two of them pushed it out of the way so that the parade could go on. The children in the Middle school and high school bands were amazingly awesome. So cute with their baton twirling and outfit. In my opinion the children were more mature than the adults! lolgood parade

The one thing that surprised me about this parade was the fact that it was in Uptown this year. Usually they have this one in Metarie.I managed to get some good throws out of this one as well. It was way better in uptown than it has ever been in Metarie. I just hope they keep it in Uptown next year.

I hate to knock a small parade, but we've got to have standards, and King Arthur has been around long enough that they should've figured out how the game is played by now. Some floats only had 2 or three people and the first dozen floats were nothing but royalty (past and present). It's fine to honor you members with the crown, but that number is a bit excessive. Those folks could have been maskers on other floats. It also seemed that all of the floats were likely rentals. c'mon folks, try investing in a few of your own floats, even if you need to fill in the gaps with rentals.

This is one fantastic Carnival organization that puts on a first class parade. I know, because I've been a member of the krewe for the past 13 years! This krewe has grown significantly in the last five years and now parades with over 1200 riders, making it the largest on the "first" weekend of Carnival and the 9th largest krewe overall. King Arthur is also the most diverse organization in Carnival history with both male and female members from all walks of life, race, religion and sexual orientation. It's obvious to me in reading some of the other comments that some folks were thinking of another parade when they wrote their reviews. First of all, the Krewe of King Arthur has NEVER paraded in Metairie. It did start out as a Westbank parade, but moved to the traditional Uptown New Orleans route in 2001.Since that time, the krewe has grown from about 200 members to around 500 in 2014 to its current record-breaking membership in the last three years. The floats are built by the captain of the krewe for use by the krewe, though it is true that you may see the floats a second time as they are rented to other parading organizations AFTER King Arthur has already paraded. We're getting bigger and better every year and we're elated that the crowds are responding positively to our growth. Each year, we're introducing new throws that hopefully will become as cherished as a Zulu coconut, a Nyx purse, or a Muse's shoe. In 2017, the krewe introduced a limited supply of the King Arthur Grail and they'll be even more of them this year! And to the reviewer who lamented the preponderance of blue beads that we threw back in 2014 when our theme was "King Arthur Has the Blues" and the weather cooperated by raining down upon us all day, ... you should have seen all of us riders at the end of the day! We all looked like Smurfs! Hopefully that will never happen again!
