OMG! I do not remember liking this parade as much as I did this weekend. It is great. Family oriented, lots of marching bands, dance teams and about 25 floats. The maids costumes are simply gorgeous. Unlike most of the others. The signature throw initiated last year is a decorated shrimp boot. There were over 4,000 this parade and I find it rather disappointing that I did not get one. But, I witnessed a few and they were super cute.

Carrollton is a solid day parade on the first weekend of carnival. The riders throw a good amount and the floats are full, especially since this is a small organization. The floats are pretty good, but nothing super fancy. Most of the good high school bands march in this parade.

Krewe of Carrollton was a pretty fun parade. It wasn't as crowded as most of the other mardi gras parades that I have been too. However some of the floats they used looked kinda familiar. Like some of the ones from Krewe of Cleopatra. I don't know maybe it was all that Crown Royal I drank.I don't like the fact that the street vendors try and rip people off. One guy was selling bags of peanuts for $4 a bag and another was selling them for 2 for $5. Definitely bring your own food out their! It was a great parade just watch out for dishonest street vendors!

My favorite Sunday morning parade. My parish always does a "tailgate" at this parade and the others that follow it. I love this one because I can allow my little one to run up and down the neutral ground without a worry due to both sides of the street being closed off. In my opinion this one is the most family friendly because of that and the fact it isn't over crowded like the others. (Well I can only speak of the area that we set up our tents.) I always look forward to enjoying mimosas and bloody mary's with brunch while we watch this one roll until dinner time.

First weekend of uptown parades... Carrollton is one of the better ones on that schedule. It's a small parade, but lots of interesting throws (good for the kids) and not overly crowded.

This krewe is one of the oldest in the City and has been parading since 1924. The parade is family-friendly and considered by New Orleans natives to be the "signature" parade of the first big weekend of Carnival parades.
