Wrong! Don't ever trust a tourist from Missouri to know anything about NOLA dive bars. This was NOT Anthony Bourdain's favorite. As any local -- or anyone who has read Tony's second book -- knows, it was SNAKE AND JAKE'S CHRISTMAS CLUB LOUNGE "where naked people drink for free," per Tony. (But no longer since Tulane frat boys messed up that tradition.)Also, Missouri Dude, there's a new thing called Google:https://www.nola.com/entertainment_life/movies_tv/where-did-anthony-bourdain-eat-and-drink-in-new-orleans-heres-a-list/article_9b36162c-74fe-5a1a-b2a5-08d45f997171.htmlJeeeeez. And to think I used to believe everything I read on Yelp. . .

This bar is rumored to have been Anthony Bourdain's favorite NOLA dive bar and you can see why, its a great little neighborhood place. Congenial crowd, cheap booze, easy parking and a nice happy hour. Not to be ignored is the very old school shuffle board inside the bar. Recently added outdoor seating during COVID, its on my basic NOLA dive bar list but not the kind of place you'd bring your aunt Bunny-unless she's a fan of dive bars. Lots of interesting regulars.

Great little neighborhood bar, been there a couple of times. Drinks are reasonably priced and a fun neighborhood dive bar of plenty of options for seating. They have a pretty generous happy hour, not sure of the exact hours but I know we were still getting those prices around 6 PM.They have two black jack slot machines a shuffleboard game and TVs in view from every section of the bar for sports enthusiast. I live in the neighborhood and I've noticed there is a food truck always parked nearby That seems very popular and is mostly comfort barbecue food.Probably the best part of this bar is that it is the neighborhood dive bar that brings all ages and walks of life from hipsters to senior adults. It is a perfect bar for hanging out and talking to friends,

I use to come to the Kingpin a long time ago (5-8 years ago, I'm getting old and I'm getting bad at remembering times) and remember loving this place. The Kingpin introduced me to shuffleboard which is still my favorite bar game. At one time it was one of the only places that had it so maybe my love for the Kingpin was a lack of options. Jeannie and I rolled in here this past Friday night only because Taceaux Loceaux was out front and we had never been. I'm guessing that this was the reason for the bar being completely full. The bar is small to begin with so when there are 50 people in there it seems like Bourbon on Mardi Gras day. They only had 1 bartender working while I was trying to get a few beers. She was friendly and busting her ass then a guy walked in and pretended to help her but he was kind of an ass. It's a busy bar, make a fuckin' drink or get out of her way. She seemed to get 8 drinks to his 1. The crowd was also a lot different then I remember. Lot's of young Republicans with their pink Polo's tucked into their white shorts while wearing loafers mixed with equally rich bearded trust fund bearded hipsters drinking PBR in a can to give the illusion that they don't care. Both groups are Tulane/Loyola kids who are equally rich and will soon be bitter enemies in their political beliefs but for now there was no Sharks and Jets dance fighting. Anyway the bar was impossible to enjoy so we drank our non PBR beers outside on the curb while enjoying our taco's. I'll have to come back on a non taco truck night to see if this place was how I once remembered or does this too fall into the category of things "My memories are better than the real thing" category like Spaghetti-O's and Voltron.

As an true, loyal and die-hard Elvis fan, I have to give this place 5 stars! It would devastate me too much not to. Lol. Seriously though, I'm a fan of this little dive bar. That's the important point to remember though - it's a total dive populated with kind of quirky regulars and that's more than ok, because it's part of its charm. It is on the small side as well as being awfully dark inside, but the regulars are very welcoming and nice, the service is good and once again, let me state - any Elvis fan will LOVE it. It's just chock blocked full of Elvis charm and charisma! What's not to love?

Bartenders were Jonny-on-the-spot with drink service, even when the keg had to be changed. Taco Loco food truck provided great bar food. Everything was flavorful, but the sleeper hits were the unassuming bean tacos and the deceptively simple avocado fries.

My jacket hung just fine on the hook, despite the owners strong assurances. No scene was caused.

Always a stop when back in Uptown NOLA. My favorite ambiance and people. When in NOLA drop in to this townie bar. One of the best.

Solid dive bar if you enjoy drinking beers on the sidewalk with some friends, which I do.
