I ordered the grilled pork banh mi with wonton soup. The soup was fine, but nothing that I would go back for. The banh mi: oof, where to begin. Unless you want what amounts to very tough and dry, mostly flavorless pork jerky on a sandwich, I wouldn't order this. Also, every banh mi I've ever had has had pickled carrots and daikon on it. This was served with some sad-looking shredded carrots and chunks of plain, unseasoned cucumber. There are way too many Vietnamese restaurants serving delicious food around the city for me to ever consider going back to this place. Service was adequate. I basically paid $20 for a mediocre bowl of soup and a Coke. (I did tip the server since the quality of the food is not on her.) Even after I expressed my disappointment with the sandwich, no offer was made to either give me something else or adjust the bill, so this is a definite caveat emptor. I mean, I literally ate like three very small bites of the sandwich.

It was the strangest thing I've seen in a restaurant. The "clean" utensils were sitting in 3 open containers on the table with us.6-7 spoons, a dozen chopsticks, and a stack of napkins were lying on the table before we were seated. Choose your implements?! It wasn't something we saw the last time we were there. It is very unappetizing to think of someone sitting and possibly touching, coughing, or sneezing so close to the utensils we are going to use. I've got nothing else to say, except that this used to be my favorite place for Pho and the first place I had Pho.

Strip mall food at its finest! It's a medium sized Vietnamese restaurant that has exceptional food and does a brisk business. Service is efficient. The ambiance is not fancy. But, the food - the food! The crab Rangoon has crab and comes with a delicious mild chili sauce, which is far superior to the sweet and sour sauce most places provide. The big highlight is the grilled shrimp summer rolls. They are filled with fresh cucumber, carrot, vermicelli, and fresh grilled shrimp with a perfectly balanced bit of fresh mint. It comes with a lightly spicy peanut sauce. Might want to ask for extra peanut sauce.

Ngon! Ngon means delicious in Vietnamese.It's located across the street from the Colonial bowling alley. I ordered takeout on a random weeknight and the wait was estimated for forty-five minutes. There were other items I wanted to order but they warned me and estimated it for even a longer wait. I'll have to try them next time when I have more time to spare. Ordered the mi hoanh thanh, mi xao mem, and Korean short ribs. Both mis were flavorful and delicious but noodles were too soft, overcooked. I didn't eat the short ribs but heard it was good as well. I'm excited to not have to drive to the East or Westbank for a good mi dish anymore. Will have to dine in next time.

When we lived in River Ridge, we ate here once a week. I've not found a better pork vermicelli dish in all of NOLA. Their broth is the REAL DEAL.
