I came by during the posted open hours on Google Maps and on YELP. The first visit was on a Wednesday at 11:50am and they said they would be back in an hour. I stopped back by on the same Wednesday at 12:25pm and they said they needed five more minutes to be back. I am writing this as I am waiting for them to arrive so I can do a tour. It seems like an interesting place that can be useful.Ok so I got in and was able to take a tour. This is going to represent the affect of Katrina on the city as a whole. The first hand accounts, the acknowledgement that the death toll was higher than the official account. It was so difficult in the immediate aftermath to recognize the entirety of the toll. But it would be nice to have the issues looked back and gone over. Documentation of the deceased of those who traveled to other states from the immediate area should be included as well. They are planning an event for the upcoming 17 year anniversary. Come and support your local grassroots organizations. A little bit can go a long way to help. Empathy. This is a struggle to have the voices heard. There were whole people's and groups that have been silenced in the process of making everything look pretty for the news and the tourists.

Do not come here! I wasted time because I saw there was three stars. People are posting pictures from the memorial at the cemetery not this museum. It looks like someone's apartment. I tried to go in during business hours but the door was locked. I rang the doorbell and no one came to the door. The area it's self is a little sketchy too. If you look at the photos I attached you can see the so called "museum" it's the door on the left. I passed right by this place and had to walk back because there only a very small sign next to the door.

A really great memorial to honor the victims and evacuees from Katrina. The granite walls at the memorial have names of the Katrina victims etched into it. The pictures say it all. I think the city did a great job of memorializing those lost as a result of the hurricane.

DO NOT GO THERE! The "museum" is literally a room with like 20 pictures on the wall, that is it. The person who in charged of this foundation is looking for people to fund the actually museum. The person is very nice and he's very into it. But, online, they made it seem like it was this big museum with all this information about the catastrophe but it really wasn't. I really feel like I wasted an hour of my time in New Orleans. Good thing that they didn't have and actual price to see the smallest "museum" in the history of humanity, you just donate whatever you want.
