Joey K's is sort of the neighborhood restaurant for those of us who live in the Garden District. It's homey, has down home New Orleans food and is a great place to go for a casual lunch. The blackberry cobbler is to die for. The appetizers are big enough to eat as an entree. Great onion rings, seafood, pasta, too. They don't take reservations but have accommodated my large extended family if we call ahead and go early. I recommend it to anyone coming to shop Magazine Street.

Joey K's is to New Orleans cuisine as Simon Hardeveld is to New Orleans signs. If you like those colorful bright signs by "Simon," Joey K has them all around; you'll never grow bored looking at the walls here. Just like the signs, the restaurant has become a staple for New Orleans fare. That means red beans, po boys, etouffees, several Italian dishes, and burgers. This reviewer can attest to the red beans, etouffee, and po boys as worth the visit. No experience (yet) with the Italian dishes. The burger is good. Worth noting is the sweet, soft, not dry (avoiding the m-word here) cornbread. Service is prompt and friendly. On nice days there is outside seating. A ding for a bathroom that was reported by my dining partner as "dirty." It's a busy place and I understand staff shortages and priorities, but clean bathrooms are a must. Personally I last visited the restroom here years ago, and It was unremarkable in that I can't recall it. This isn't a blocking issue for me, but my dining partner won't go back.

For the price, it was okay. I got the shrimp and grits, and it had no flavor at all. I had to add so much salt, pepper, and crystal sauce just to eat it. It was kind of disappointing. My date had a friend eggplant poboy, and he said it was just okay. The French 75 I had was good for the price. Nothing is special, and unfortunately I won't be coming back. I'd be a little embarrassed for tourists to eat this and think this is what New Orleans food is like. If you like bland food, this is your place.Note that the shrimp were gulf shrimp and tasted okay by themselves.

First let me explain why I gave 3stars. The 3 stars is for the customer service (which was great), and that we got seated super quickly upon arrival. As far as the food, (there was 4 of us) we gave it a 1 unfortunately. I ordered the shrimp and grits which is my favorite. However, this lacked flavor! I thought after adding salt and hot sauce that it would help but I didn't. I found myself adding other sauces just to make it somewhat enjoyable. The shrimp in it was good. So I pretty much just ate that. Next my friends got the Po Boy sandwich, corn and crab bisque, and the cat fish tacos. The only one that ate all her food was the one that had the bisque. All the rest kind of struggled to eat theirs. They did like the beans and rice but that's about it. The fried green tomatoes were good though. Strawberries Marg was a 10/10. We're not from here but definitely had ate this at other restaurants around New Orleans and this one wasn't in our top 5.

Service is always friendly and Joey K's is always Joey K's consistency is king here. The seafood is always hot and fresh. The staff always has a smile if it's 4 tables or 40 being served. They are a neighborhood spot through and through and where I always take visitors to city for that first bite or NOLA.

10/10 perfect little homey restaurant, serving up amazing food and drinks! I got the daily special of half a shrimp po boy with red beans and jambalaya. Literally so much food and was absolutely amazing. I don't even love red beans but dang I just about licked that bowl. I also love magazine street so this is the perfect location. You must come here

I love Joey K's. It's my go to and my stand in when I don't want to venture out in to the New Orleans Restaurant Cuisine Labyrinth. It's just casual home style American creole cuisine. Service is always friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive whether you're sitting at the bar or at a table. I had the fried green tomatoes poboy and I added shrimp plus a Manhattan to start off with. Ending with my dinner with the bread pudding with vanilla ice cream. Joey's never disappoints.

Service and food here is great. Our server was friendly and patient. We ordered- cornbread - was a big piece. good with butter- crawfish and corn fritters - these were great. Crispy on the outside and soft inside- 4 piece fried chicken w/Mac & cheese and mashed potatoes and gravy. Chicken was good. Mac and cheese was creamy and cheesy- chicken fried steak w/ mashed potatoes and green beans. Bf loved it. He cleaned his plate.Lots of cool art and sayings all over the restaurant

Avoid at all cost. Food has no flavor. The staff was nice. Please don't be pulled in because Guy Fieri ate there.

We stopped here for an early dinner after walking around the neighborhood checking out the beautiful homes. I had the smoked sausage poboy and a cup of red beans and rice. Both were spectacular though I should have opted for a bowl of the red beans and rice. It was that delicious.
