Joe Joe On The Ridge

I was looking for a place to sit and write while enjoying a drink and a bite and Joe Joe on the Ridge, at the corner of Esplanade and Claiborne, shocked me. This quiet hideaway features delicious authentic Mexican fare and traditional bar drinks. I had the quesa-birria and the tortilla was deliciously crunchy, shredded beef was perfectly seasoned, and the cheese was delectably melty. The pico and romaine sides were fresh. I'm not super familiar with traditional Mexican street corn but the version here is tangy, spicy, and sweet. Genuinely made me want to lick the plate.I had a great conversation with the server, Serena, and will definitely be back.

Y'all we stumbled into this GREATNESS of a hidden gem in February 2024! This was an amazing experience, we all were able to meet Joe and Joe. They were both great host and very hospitable and extremely attentive. I'll definitely be back (with my big party too)! OAN just let me know when y'all want to go, I'll go back with you. That's how much I enjoyed myself.

I had a business meeting there with my friend. The owner greeted us soon as we walked in with huge Smile. The food was very tasty lots of flavor in the Shrimp Tacos & the Birria Taco's we're to Die for. Plus his daughter makes the Most incredible Fresh Que Rico made Margaritas from scratch, ending having 4 of them. The most interesting part was they have a Full size Pool outback you can swim while your there. Definitely my new hangout since I only live 6 blocks away!!!

Food was excellent. Service was really great. I will be back again. Oh I got the steak tacos and they served 3 and they were delicious. Add a free guacamole and this was a wonderful meal.

In our own neighborhood; we finally discovered the hidden gem known as Joe Joe's on Esplanade. The margaritas are homemade and yummy. The tacos are homemade and yummy. The owners are nice, happy and amazing. I had two tacos (chicken and beef) and a beer for $10. My partner had a margarita for $11 and two tacos (chicken and pork). My daughter had the Chuleta De Puerco for dinner. The food is amazing and the people are amazing! They have indoor and outdoor dining space. Go check it out! You will not be disappointed!

Great service - even for our large raucous group. Live music today. Outstanding guacamole and shrimp tacos. Huge clay bucket of margaritas totally hit the spot. You won't be disappointed with this place.

I have been here a few times and the service and food has always been great. It always feels like home. It's always clean. The music makes you want to dance.

Ok let's start with the good things. The outside was well lit and ample street parking. It's across the street from Manchu's. The service was great. I sat at the bar solo and watched the bar tender make my margaritas fresh. No premade mix. Just limes, tequila and love. Hence why I ordered two. There's a decent selection of tequila reposado. The usuals you would see at a Nola spot (1800, casamigos, el jimidor, etc.) a few mezcal options. Will try some next time. He was friendly. Indulged my requests to practice speaking Spanish and took my food critiques in stride. Speaking of food....it's definitely very gringo in presentation and taste. It was bad but the fajitas were very authentic tasting. The steak was very well done (typical for the area), but they should definitely offer a an option to cook medium or medium rare. The rice was yellow and the refried beans were normal. Good portion size for the $17 price tag. Sour cream, guacamole, pico, and 3 corn tortillas were included. I asked what should I try next time after telling the bar tender the food was "muy gringo" and he said to order the birria tacos or the pork tacos. Stating that those options are more authentic. So I'll definitely be back for more margaritas and potentially a new menu item.

We were greeted immediately with a warm smile. Given the daily special and happy hour specials. The margarita was made from scratch with freshly squeezed lime juice, so smooth and delicious. Guacamole was good and cold. Heavy on the onions and tomatoes but still delicious. Shrimp tacos were the show stopper. Chicken taco was OK, needed the same seasoning as the shrimp. Birria tacos were okay too. Needed a little salt. Shell was fried to perfection and cheesy. Broth was OK. I usually don't dip my Birria tacos in the broth anyways. I like it crunchy. There were pickled onions on the shrimp tacos I added into the birria taco. I'd go back and I'll definitely recommend.Spacious restaurant, offers salsa classes on Wednesdays, outdoor seating, event space upstairs, off street parking.

Came here with friends. I'm vegan and asked the gentleman if he could make the fajita without meat. He said yes absolutely. Everything was lovely until the check came. They charged me $3 more to not have meat. Three dollars to have fewer ingredients. BS. No thank you. I'll never eat here again
