Cocktail only reviewI sat solo by the bar before dinner hours and was able to get seated immediately. I ordered the Feast of Avalon and it was a beautiful presentation of fresh herbs and a smokey cinnamon stick. The drink was delicious. Cocktails are priced at $14-16 for normal cocktails and the premiums at ~$30.The bartenders were very friendly and quick to service. The inside of the establishment has a quaint décor with cool printed napkins too!

Went here mostly for drinks before getting dressed for the Endymion ball. Inside is nice, small inside, some outside seating, very dark and intimate. I'd been here before just for cocktails since that's what they're known for and I was disappointed. Wasn't really a huge fan of the specialty seasonal cocktails or just a normal old fashioned. Figured at least one would blow my hair back. This time though I really liked the seasonal cocktails. The Zulu king and the Pouvez-vous poulet and they were amazing. After a few drinks we were feeling adventurous as the food on the menu is interesting to say the least. Tried the Boudin Noir not really knowing what to expect. Was kinda thinking boudin link and blood sausage baby. It actually came out as like a little slice of meatloaf. Didn't really taste like blood sausage or boudin, but we decided the closest thing we could think is the good crispy slightly burnt edge of a smash burger.

A NOLA gem, Jewel of the South feels like a hidden treasure, offering a dining experience that's both cozy and refined. The service is warm and attentive, and the ambiance is charming, a true testament to Southern hospitality. The menu is uniquely crafted, so if you have a particular palate, it's worth a quick preview. But for the curious and open-minded, it's a culinary adventure. The red fish entrée was excellent: crispy skin and tender fish paired with mashed green peas, both fresh and vibrant -- a simple yet perfectly executed dish. The foie gras is another treat, rich and indulgent, and they also serve lovely mocktails, perfect for those who prefer non-alcoholic options. Jewel of the South captures the spirit of New Orleans in each dish, making it a must-visit for anyone looking to explore the city's food scene beyond the usual.

This tucked away spot housed in a 19th century restored house is a true hidden gem! Seating limited, so reservations are highly encouraged. There are small eating areas indoor (upstairs/downstairs), indoor and at the bar. With a variety of spirits, there's a drink for everyone. The drinks are splendid. But the food is what really impressed me. Focused on smaller bites, the food and flavor really packs a punch! Everything we tried was spectacular and you will not leave disappointed.

The drinks were great and the shaved turnip was fantastic. The menu had advertised a celeriac as a main, and it was available two weeks ago (I had checked yelp photos before attending). They did not have the celeriac main. I understand that items can run out, but if you an establishment gets rid of their one vegetarian main, they should replace it with another one. That being said, the cocktails were good, and the service was fine.

Jewel of the South lives up to its reputation as one of the world's top 50 bars in 2024! This New Orleans gem delivers on both ambiance and expertly crafted cocktails, which made it a memorable night out.We ordered a Brandy Crusta and a Feast of Avalon, and both drinks were fantastic. The Brandy Crusta was a perfectly balanced classic, with a delightful citrus twist and a beautiful sugar rim that added just the right amount of sweetness (although it's pretty strong for myself). The Feast of Avalon was equally impressive, which was both refreshing and indulgent. The staff here was also very friendly and nice, they were knowledgeable about their drinks, and made great recommendations. The drinks, the vibe, and the history of the building make it an unforgettable experience!

The Solid Gold Fashioned at Jewel of the south is like drinking a luxury watch--smooth, bold, and way too cool for you. One sip, and every other cocktail feels basic.

Jewel of the South has tons of accolades so I was excited to go. I don't see what the fuss is all about. It was good, not amazing, and on par with other high end bars I've visited.I visited on a Friday around 3 PM with two people and we got a table on the back patio without a reservation. All of the staff was very friendly, and upscale without being stuffy, which was nice. We found the regular cocktail menu boring so we ordered four drinks off the seasonal Halloween / spooky cocktail menu. These were the Count Orlok, Feast of Avalon, Toil and Trouble, and Heads Will Roll (see photo for menu descriptions). They were all good and well made. The Feast of Avalon was the most interesting to me due to the pomegranate and tea syrup flavors. At one point, I asked our waiter for recommendations and they recommended a Blood and Sand, which is a classic but boring suggestion, so I didn't take it.We only got drinks, not food. I would visit again.

Jewel of the South does it right. Excellent cocktails, great service and amazing ambiance in the courtyard area. We didn't have a full meal but the small bites we had were superb! Would 100% recommend for a fun evening! Highly recommend reservations too. We had a bit of a wait for a table!
