Jefferson Performing Arts Center took my breath away...and bot in a good way. I've been to Jefferson Performing Arts Center many times, and usually, it's a shining example of how to host a stellar event. The seats are comfy, the staff is welcoming, the logistics run like clockwork, and the acoustics are consistently phenomenal--every note rings out perfectly, no matter where you sit. Last night's Black Jacket Symphony performance of Led Zeppelin's music was no exception on the performance side--just incredible. But oh, let's talk about the atmosphere. When I stepped into the auditorium, I wasn't met with the warm embrace of a perfectly tuned heating system. No, I was smacked in the face by a wall of heat so intense I briefly considered whether Led Zeppelin might've been covering Hot for Teacher. Thankfully, someone on staff noticed that the audience wasn't exactly giving a standing ovation to the HVAC situation and turned the heat off.But then came the second act of discomfort: stagnant air. The kind of air that just sits there, like a guest at a dinner party who refuses to leave. No fans, no circulation--just a thick, unmoving mass of stuffiness that somehow felt more oppressive than the heat itself. And here's the thing: when you're in a packed room where the average age skews over 60, and you add in the not-so-subtle aroma of decades of cigarette smoking clinging to clothing? Let's just say it wasn't a breath of fresh air.The show itself was phenomenal--so good that I stayed despite feeling like I was trying to breathe through a wet blanket. But honestly, Jefferson Performing Arts Center, you've got to do better. Temperature control and air circulation aren't just "nice-to-haves"; they're the baseline for a venue of this caliber. I want to keep coming back for these incredible performances, but next time, let's make sure the only thing taking my breath away is the music--not the HVAC drama.

This is a spectacular space! The parking is ample and free! The theater is quite big, bigger than I expected. The concessions aren't plentiful but completely reasonably priced. A charcuterie board was only around $11. The wine was like $6. The workers are friendly. The bathrooms are clean and big. There are elevators and stairs. The sound from the actors' voices could have been a little louder. The musical sounds were perfect. The special effects for what we saw were so very artistically well done. They created a moving train! The actors were incredible, too. Everything really was beautiful and I can't wait to go back and spend more money of food and drinks!

We went on a Sunday afternoon for a showing of Dreamgirls. Parking was plenty. The show wasn't full, but even with a full house, I can't imagine having a problem parking. However, getting out of the parking lot after the show took some time. The building is beautiful, clean, modern and very well designed. We chose balcony seating due to the price and figured we'd still be able to see the stage from the 2nd row. The view was okay, with minimal interference from the person's head in front of me. The audio was terrible. No one could understand what they were saying when the orchestra was playing. The music was so loud and the actors really low. It sucked, because I feel like it ruined what could have been a good show. Due to that reason, I'm uncertain whether I would attend another performance here.

On the south side of Airline Drive, next to the minor league baseball stadium is this building. I had seen it before, but never really paid attention to it, or was curious as to what it was. Well, I was wrong for not being curious, and I am sorry. It has no dedicated parking lot from what I can see, but I parked in the lot for the stadium next door. I came on a Saturday as a friend got tickets for the LPO to play the soundtrack while Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone was playing. AMAZING. Our seats were house left, in the box. Some of the view was blocked by a wall, but it was wonderful. Everything was beautiful. The walls, the carpet, the seats. Again, it was amazing. There was a souvenir table with all things Potter, a small bar with snacks. I really can not recommend this place enough. There is an elevator for handicapped, a sloped walkway for handicapped. The seating for handicapped is tricky.I look forward to coming back and seeing future shows here. You do not have to pay for parking, and get first class entertainment without the hassle of going downtown. AMAZING!

This place is really nice. I expect a lot of theater, performances, conferences, and more to be seen here in the near future. I felt like I was at the academy awards. We came here for a convention, so there was no alcohol (fortunately or not). This is the first big event the arts center is holding so five stars for feeing honored, for cleanliness, for the aesthetics, the free doughnuts, and the piano music while we waited for the convention to begin. Two stars for not having hot chocolate, back to five stars because apparently 99% of the people here preferred the coffee you provided.

Ample parking is available across the street. I did not know what to expect with this theater. I was pleasantly surprised. The theater is nice on the inside and very spacious. I attended a performance here with my daughter. The play itself was very good.

Overzealous security team. Won't allow food or drink inside but only offer hotdogs for athletes to eat. Loading dock is a huge pain.

This place was incredible. My friend used to work for the contractor & he told me if a wall was not perfect the contractor would say "let me show you how you fix this error"- then he would tear down the wall and start over. It can be said that "no matter if the job is large or small, do it RIGHT, or NOT AT ALL!!!" Well the building was way over budget with the council's low bidder racket, but this is a masterpiece. Mr. Frederick came to career day at my son's school and my son talked non-stop about the magnificence of the experience of this theatre. We went and saw the musical "Sister Act" and the opulence of the building in itself overcomes any of the recent theaters I have seen, most recently the performing arts center across from Chalmette High. It is just amazing to see. I am snure some studio has had to film motion picture scenes in there already. The only thing that seemed lacking was the small restroom, and no auto toilets, sinks, or dryers. But that can be rectified with the hard work by The Leading Ladies Guild and its' very capable 2015-2016 officers. Everybody did a wonderful job on this masterpiece. It is truly an incredible piece of architecture...
