Best place for great selection of plants & pet products & foods. Come from Belle Chasse to shop there. Hubby loves flowers, took several great pics, while shopping. Service is always good.

Worse pet adoption process around. They have dozens and dozens of animals waiting to be adopted but Jeff feed makes it near impossible to adopt. A lot of my friends and family have tried over the years, including myself recently. We love animals, have great homes, nice incomes but yet, you get turned down or never ever hear from them even with filling out adoption applications. My elderly aunt got turned down for an adult cat (and she has had cats all her life). My sister got turned down because she said her kittens will be indoor until adults, and will be have the freedom to go outside, like their other 2 cats. My cousin and his partner tried adopting kittens too, and never heard back from them. Don't use Jefferson Feed, find a pet elsewhere. I believe they discriminate upon arrival.

I recently could not get my dogs food on Amazon. I called and was surprised they carried and had my brand and size in stock. It was only a couple dollars more than the cheapest I've ever seen it. They have sooo much more here. Beautiful garden and plant selection and the staff is helpful and they're very knowledgeable. Great local business tgat been around for years because they treat you right!

What a lovely pet and garden center! Driving by on Airline, the plethora of potted plants on the north side caught my eye. I made a U-Turn at the first opportunity and came on in. I must have walked around four or five times inside and out before coming to a decision. Items were reasonably priced. There is a ton of pet foods inside, even a bakery display of homemade goods for your pet. They do have rabbits, cats and a dog for sale here. There is no one wearing masks (March 2022), but there is plexiglass between the cashier and the customer, and a folding table between that. So, the customer has to hold up each item, the cashier has to verify the price, and then scan it in. The customer must then bag their own items. I am 5' tall on a good day, and if I had been any shorter, the transaction would have stalled. I would have been too short to hold any of the items close enough for the cashier to see, or to pass my method of payment. I totally understand wanting to protect as many people as possible, but what if I were more vertically challenged, height impaired, whatever.

Came to Jefferson feed today 1-21-21 to pick up a birthday cake for my doggie. Walked in and was greeted but then was immediately taken back by the way the women I believe her name is Martha treated the puppy up for adoption. The dog was barking and she starts screaming at this poor animal. The dog was obviously neglected by the workers as he has foam coming from his mouth, urine in the kennel that is filled with foam. I felt so uncomfortable being here I hurried out. It's just very sad to see animals that were abandon being treated by this worker is such an impatient and neglectful way. Do better.

Honestly, this place used to be great, but has now turned into a place I will no longer support. I cannot stand the lack of cleanliness here anymore, the disorganized system of product placement, the lack of product variety (for non-traditional pets for example), and the less-than-stellar staff. Adding insult to annoyance the food selection is vastly overpriced. I wanted to support a local store so much, but the last seven times I have been to this store, NO ONE has spoken to me. No one greets me, no one can be found inside or outside to help with product questions for pets or lawns, and cashiers spend more time talking to each other than customers. Side note - I was happy to see their exotic pets removed, as they weren't taken care of properly, but they've now stopped stocking even simple items for common non-dog/cat pets. Also, can you please stop having dogs for adoption??? They look absolutely miserable, and not taken care of at all. This past visit the poor baby was howling the entire time I was there.

Lots of stuff here to look at, almost jungle-like foliage growing your future planting. Careful selecting can mean some real bargains as well as outstanding specimens.

I just left Jefferson feed. I bought 11 bags of crushed pine needles.the other day. I don't know if you've ever gotten the crushed Pineneedles but A. I love them and B. They're super expensive. I unexpectedly got off work a half day so I darted out to my trusted store to get the Pineneedles so I could make use of my unexpected time off. Got all the way home, and the quality was to say the least poor. They just weren't ground up. They were whole needles. And that's OK except that they're $10 a bag for crushed. So I laid all these pine needles anyway because I just didn't have the time to go all the way back. and then I looked at it and hated it which I knew I would so I picked them all up and crushed them in my Pineneedles shredder, and I laid them all out and they look lovely. I needed more Pine needles to finish so I drove all the way out to Jefferson Feed, and just to get rid of the sick feeling in my stomach over paying $10 a bag for not just subpar quality, I mean incredibly poor quality. I asked the manager if he could help me with that. I ended up getting the Pineneedles that I needed for 7.99 a bag instead of 10.99 a bag, I realize that's a decent discount on new Pineneedles. He was not only reluctant, he made me feel like I was the worst person for asking for help. It was incredibly uncomfortable and frustrating. I did buy nine bags from them because the bags out looked better. The quality is I would say 80 to 90% better than what I bought last time. So when I went outside, crying, and my friends all know I'm a sissy when I'm really hurt, but when I went outside crying and got the Pineneedles, the man who helped me load my truck actually said "yes, all the customers are mad because these are coming in the bags as full needles, but they say crushed Pineneedles" so I said well, if you knew that, why are you selling trash for premium price and he said "it is what it is. We have to pay the freight." And I'm just looking at him like but you know I come here all the time and I'm a good customer and I help you guys load my car when you load my car and we drive all the way out here from Destrehan and I'm still just shocked. I'm still driving home to Destrehan crying totally shocked by the way I was spoken to, by the way I was treated, and by the way I was snookered by my first purchase. I guess this yelp review will not change anything because most people will go there and have a wonderful experience. I have always had a wonderful experience when I've gone there before. But I will never walk in there again. Some of that is what's making me cry. I just really like that place and I'm so sad right now.
