I wanna shout out to the ladies here for a great Friday night. My wife was getting her hair cut by Mandy (came out TERRIFIC) and I was there for moral support and to cut up. Hey, it was a Friday. Turns out, she had time to scalp me, as well, and even so we got out of there for under $70 including the shampoo and conditioner. Not a bad price and we had so much fun with the crew it didn't even feel like giving up a Friday night!Go in and get with Mandy, she'll rock your hair, talk your ear off while she's doing, and get you out the door without hurting your pocketbook.

A lot of my friends call me crazy for coming out here for salon services... Most of them, actually... But great service is great service. Scheduling an apportionment is simple and you know that the appointment is real and your stylist is going to be there. And be ready. (can you tell I went thru some things before switching to jcp? Lol) Whenever you see me with straight hair, you know I was here! From the tingly T-tree shampoo to the moisturizing deep conditioner to whatever magic Toya uses to detangle my tresses... the ladies here are true professionals and they Take Care of their clients! Add in the ability to purchase the products they use on me right there, before I leave, so I can try to be awesome in between and I am the happiest camper with the flyyest hairdo.

Initially, I enjoyed receiving a relaxer and cut. However, the relaxer was removed quickly (at my request, because it was beginning to burn) and one part of my hair in particular did not get straight. No deep conditioner or protein treatment was given after the relaxer. Two weeks later, I came back in and had a spot relaxer treatment scheduled for the thickest part, which was only applied for a minute before she rinsed it out. The stylist, who I won't name, proceeded to RE-TREAT my entire scalp. When I asked why she chose to relax the whole head, she said she didn't know that I had come in only two weeks prior. (Have to pay attention to your clients!!!!) When I asked about a deep conditioning treatment, she said you aren't supposed to deep condition after your relaxer. (I have been getting deep conditioning treatments post-relaxer for years!) My hair was wispy and dry for five days after I left, and was breaking off at the roots before I had a corrective deep protein treatment done by another stylist. Needless to say, I won't be returning.

My New Year's Eve didn't quite pan out as expected. I scheduled an appointment to get my hair done for a Gatsby look at JCPenney Salon at Lakeside Mall. When I got there, the lady that was supposed to do my hair wasn't there so they set me up with someone else and her name was Reggie. Well, when I showed her the picture of what I wanted, this lady told me what I wanted was "too intricate" and she couldn't and wouldn't do it. So, she told me to look at books to pick a "very simple" style because there wasn't enough time. She didn't even tell me where the books were located. With none of her help, I spent 15 min looking for upstyles just for her to tell me "No." "I can't do that." "I mean I guess I could try." "I can do it but it won't look like that." "you should have come earlier. We about to close." (I actually came in EARLY for my appt). she had something to say about every picture I showed her. FED UP, I told the lady, "I'll pass." And walked out. what kind of hairstylist are you that you can't do any of the photos I show you? And what's the point of setting up an appointment time of you are just going to tell me I should have come in earlier? The reason I chose that time is because IT WAS THE BEST TIME FOR ME. Isn't that why you make appointments? My appt. was for 5:15 P.M. and I got there at 5:08. I even stated that I wanted a Gatsby look in the notes section when booking. Never again will I go to that place. TERRIBLE service and staff. Doesn't even deserve 1 star.

I called to schedule a haircut. They canceled on me twice. I was more than happy to just get a quick trim and leave with my hair wet. I work 2 jobs. My entire team at work rescheduled their lunches for me to go this appointment they scheduled at the last minute. JC Penney is one of the few salons that pays hourly which is great for hairdressers to build a clientele, but doesn't motivate stylists to work with multiple clients or keep their appointments.

The amazing Courtney Rhodes did it again!!!! I love my new hair color and trim. I had my hair done at the beginning of Summer (by another stylist) and had to get color correction - it took a few sessions but Courtney has me exactly where I wanted to be and kept the integrity of my hair intact!!!
