If you're looking for a great store that gives back to the community, look no further. The Island of Salvation has what you want. Mambo Sallie is a fantastic reader and spiritual advisor. The store carries a wide range of products related to Vodou and Hoodoo. Oils, candles, incense, books, tarot cards, and other tools make up the bulk of the shop's amazing stock, but the original art and beautiful, authentic Drapo (ritual flags used in Haitian Vodou) make the place truly spectacular. Visit the Shrine of Marie Laveau on premises and leave an offering!

This place was recommended to me by a friend who lived in the city for years. I wanted to find a metaphysical store a little off the beaten path because the tourist-trap ones in the French Quarter simply did not entice me as much. This gem is such a pillar in the community-- I could not recommend it enough! it is operated by Vodou Priestess Sallie, who answered all of questions with no hesitation. The staff here is all so lovely. I was here a total of about an hour & a half because a girlfriend and I were getting back to back readings. During that time I saw many locals come in with specific problems, and the girls working gave their thoughtful prescriptions with recommendations for sages, salts, candles, etc. They sell candles for multiple uses, herbs, essential oils, anointing oils, spell kits, Florida water, cleansing bath salts (for multiple purposes such as grief, love, healing, etc.). statues of saints, traditional vodou good luck charms (adorned chicken feet), tarot cards, books, oracle decks, art, and soooo much more. A lot of their products are made in-house. I bought bath salts, candles, and a vodou tarot magnet. As for my reading-- I had it with Marcela and I just loved it. She uses tarot cards + runes and really connects with you on a soul level, instead of just giving you superficial guidance and "predictions." She told me a lot of what my soul already knew but needed to hear. I left our reading feeling lighter with some wonderful new intentions for the new year. If you are into the metaphysical I could not recommend this beautiful place enough. I experienced a completely different vibe when I went to a store in the French Quarter where the employees seemed disinterested and distant, probably from dealing with tourists all day.

Gary is LIFE!! I was so glad he was there to greet us when we arrived yesterday 7/23, as Texas tourists. He helped us graciously, and had conversation that was unmatchable!! So helpful. This shop was definitely not the touristy stop OR trap, so I loved its authentic feel. Lots of energy to be had, and to be shared in this little gem. Next time, Id love to get a reading. This trip was all about crystals, scents, gems and beads.

I'm not a spiritual store connoisseur but I liked this place a lot and the staff were chill and friendly. Very enjoyable experience

I love this voodoo store. Let me say voodoo is not my thing, but on the lighter side if voodoo, I'm totally cool. I saw a Money candle down the street and I said I liked I it. They referred me to this store, which is a small store inside a bigger building, so come on in. They have many candles, incense, crystal balls, talismans, etc. I bought a St. Michael (an archangel, that is usually thought to be for protection and one of the archangel's I work with) medal. I bought a money candle. And I bought a lovely purple crystal ball. This is a good store to buy what you need, whether for voodoo, Wicca, witchcraft or simple manifesting.

Cute oasis of spirituality tucked in to a quiet strip mall / building space. There's all the usual items for sale that you would expect to attract, repel, protect etc. There's a small room in the corner that's used for readings. I was going through an extremely painful separation and looking for any clarity internally or externally. Sadly & gratefully...I am seeing much of what was discussed unfold since my visit 4 months ago. Warning- you don't always get the answers you want, but it seems to be what I needed. Thank you

I absolutely loved this shop! It was recommended to me by a friend and I was not disappointed. The shelves are lined with all kinds of different waters, colognes, oils, candles, herbs, art, you name it. The herb collection was great. The owner was really friendly. The shop wasn't super fancy, rather, it was nice and spacious. I really loved all the candles burning and how you could leave a candle there to burn. I can't wait to go back on my next trip to the area!

I had a reading with Sierra. My experience from the moment I walked through the door, I was in awe of the beauty and power of the shop. I felt amazing mystical energy. I feel that this has been the most authentic reading I have ever had. Sierra is so gifted. She is so connected with spirit. She helped me pick out my additional purchases and dressed up my candles for me. This is now my favorite New Orleans shop!!!!I will be getting another reading from her in the future. Thank you!!!!!!!

The workers in the Botanica were so nice, they gave everyone helpful information letting everyone know that some candles or items could bring reverse effects on you or how to use their items. They even help you dress your candles, give you information on the herbs that you may need, and have a reader in there who I am told books quickly. Overall the atmosphere is amazing and I don't say that about many stores

I went in and had a ready with Ciara ( hope I'm spelling it right). She was a delight. At the end of the reading she said something that really struck me. She described a love that I would be meeting. She was spot on on his description. I have not my met this man yet but I have been seeing this man in my dreams for the past few weeks and she described him to the T ! I'm about to manifest him !!!!! I left feeling great and full of great products! They are VERY fair and reasonably priced ! I will gladly take a 2 hour drive to buy from them monthly.
