Iron Skillet

I'm so happy we found this gem. When on road trip we always try to find good diners and this one is definitely one of those. First time I had chicken fried chicken. Wow the white gravy was so super delis and the chicken was crispy, fresh. You get a soup or a salad with it. The chicken marinara with pasta was also Yumm!We were full but their desserts looked so good and they are smart, they place it right in front of you in a napkin dispenser with pictures. HahaWe took a cheese cake with raspberry! Oh my! Was tasty. Service was always good. If we ever gonna be around again we will stop by and you should too ;)

We stop in here now and again when we are heading somewhere. It's a truck stop mostly, all kinda cool things to look at in the attached store. It's hardy food they serve here, they have a small buffet and a salad bar. You get big portions and I like that! Julie has a chicken sandwich and I had a French toast breakfast. It's good food! They take time to make sure the place is clean and homey because truckers are never home. They have great shakes here with real scooped ice cream! If you are passing near Hammond on I-12 this is a great place to take a break!!

The price you pay for the food is almost like to give me the kids plate 20 bucks for five nuggets And the water like a 12 ounce cup $20. It wouldn't work but 10. Not worth the price one person serving you one person working in the back cooking the food that's a pitiful place. You could've went to court street gang got more for your buck at the waffle house. I would never go back there again and the service sucks. Yeah it's a sad place if you want some to eat it's a good place if you got kids cut out quantity to give you.

I ordered smashed and gravy, I got baked potato, I ordered none sweeten tea I got sweeten tea, I ordered green beans I got a salad. She said she forgot, I guess I'll follow her example and forget to tip her. I asked the server she said it's been a rough day and she gave me a discount. They were out of vegetables.. The food over all was good. I'm just a little disappointed in all the changes.

I never thought I would be making this review. However the 3 managers ( tall black guy, John, & and the beautiful Hispanic lady and our waitress and those tending the buffet were all absolutely excellent! Everything about this location makes us (husband/wife team) drivers want to return. We were kind of hesitant... but they convinced us that the food and service was excellent... and it was!The steak -delicious/baked fish- cabbage .... all greatly seasoned.... we will return!Did I say how attentive & excellent our server was Thanks Whitley!I'm retired from Fedex - Customer Service is everything-They Delivered!

Well, currently it's the only breakfast buffet in the area, until the new big buffet opens. Located in a truck stop environment, The Iron Skillet is still inviting and friendly. We had the breakfast buffet and my son had a chicken sandwich... which he really enjoyed. In hindsight, we all should have ordered from the menu. It's not that the buffet was bad... it was just bland and unimpressive. I couldn't even convince the kids to get pancakes a second time to make the purchase price worthy. The service was very friendly and did a pretty good job.

My husband and I stopped here just before 7 AM on a Monday, looking forward to a decent meal we could get quickly and get back on the road.I got the special - 2 eggs, 2 slices of bacon, and a hot cake. The "iron" skillets weren't - more like pewter or aluminum, and didn't do much to keep the food warm. My basted eggs were perfectly cooked, but barely lukewarm. After waiting for about 30 minutes for our meal, I wasn't about to send them back. The hot cake wasn't bad, but when it was brought to the table, I was told they were out of syrup. Really? My husband ordered the chicken and mushroom omelette, well-browned home fries, and a biscuit. The omelette was hot and loaded with chicken, could have used a bit more seasoning, but good. Home fries were decent - not browned but decent - and the biscuit was good.Our server (who turned out to be the cook as well) was Keshall and is the main reason this isn't a one-star review. She was pleasant, and helpful, but really, Petro, a cook needs to cook and a server, serve. You can't expect good reviews if your cook can't stay in the kitchen.

Can't believe the southern Louisiana buffet style meal it was tasty and straight up southern fried chicken livers fried chicken their lasagna best ever rice and beans extremely delicious and the price is unbeatable

Toay was so good at iron skillet. Everything was fresh in the buffet. Good service. Friendly face.i recommended it.

I always like this chain when I was a trucker. They always have a good hot breakfast. Well I usually have the biscuits and gravy. My favorite. Today I ventured out and had the chicken fried steak and eggs. They came out hot and fresh and hit the spot.If your on the road and want a good meal drop in and chick this place out. Definitely beats fast food.
