I was in dire need of lunch and this truck came to my rescue. A veggie burger was just what I wanted. There version was interesting in that it was a bit... chunky, like whole edamame chunky. And really tasty. I could have lived without the plastic cheese but for $8 my combo included the burger, fries and a canned drink. Great deal! The service was super quick too. I'll have to try the falafel next time.LOVE their logo!

Lafreniere Park is hosting "Lunch in Lafreniere Park" with a food truck line-up on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 11A-2P in March and April. Today there was HorusEatDat, Bonafried, and Couzan. The trucks were parked along the lake in the same lot as Plum St Snowballs, 2 lots past Al Copeland's Concert Meadow coming from the Veterans entrance, right by the fountains. I already knew I was coming to Horus to get some halal food! I walked up and was greeted immediately with a "Hey baby, I'll take care of you!" Amr was super endearing with his very NOLA greeting.I chose to get the Gyro Wrap Combo and was not disappointed. The Gyro Wrap comes on pita with lamb gyro, tzatziki, lettuce and tomato. When I ordered the Gyro Wrap I was asked if I wanted it with fries and I added a Sprite (of course). The combo will come with fries and the plate will have the meat, pita, salad, rice and includes a drink. I almost changed my mind to get a plate but I already paid and the fries were already dropped. Definitely want to try the rice next time for a full experience but I totally wanted fries anyway!I sat down at a nearby table behind the trucks with a view of the lake and tons of birds lurking nearby (protect your food if they get too close because I was afraid I was going to lose a fry or two from above and that's not good for the wildlife). My wrap was neatly folded into food service parchment paper, really great for on-the-go, and placed on a mound of seasoned, thick-cut fries. I opened my gyro just to see what was going on inside and wrapped it back up to eat. The meat was plentiful, delicious and seasoned well. It made me really happy upon first bite! The tzatziki spread across the pita was thick and creamy and almost feta cheese-like,. The chopped lettuce was crunchy and fresh, and the tomatoes were the perfect size and tasty! It's so hard to find good tomato that I like. Pita was soft and I could probably eat it just by itself, and maybe drowning in that tzatziki. The portability made me not regret the decision to go for a wrap over the plate. As for the fries, they were seasoned well and there was enough seasoning at the bottom of the box for extra dips of flavor. After I demolished my food, one of the cooks stepped off the truck asking me if I enjoyed the food. I said of course as he headed to a table smiling with his own plate. Sign of great food if you see it every day and still want to eat it! I asked the other cook where Amr was and he was very nice as well. Amr was very kind and answered all my followup questions. They will be back in the park tomorrow, next Wednesday and Thursday and seem to frequent the lineup for Lunch in Lafreniere. He also told me that he serves the downtown area and, according to Facebook, Wrong Iron as well. They are most active on there if you want to see where they are parked daily at their Horus.EatDat Facebook page. I really hope I am able to catch them again and try more things to update this review! As soon as I mentioned that I wanted to try their Koofteh, they said they would make it just for me! So accommodating but my schedule won't line up to get some any time soon. The Chicken Philly and Spicy Horus Chicken look like great candidates also. Definitely recommend this family owned food truck if you see them out and about!

Went outside expecting to see Queen on Wheels, but found this food truck in it's spot instead. So I gave it a try. I ordered the Philly Steak and Cheese combo, which cane with fries and a canned drink for $10. If you use a credit card, they charge sales tax; so pay by cash to avoid the additional $1. Overall, the meal was fine. The sandwich was about a foot long filled with meat, cheese and peppers. It was light on mayo and I wished there had been more. While the fries were dusted with what looked like creole seasoning, they still lacked flavor. However, they were hot, crispy and plentiful. When I make fries at home, I just use salt and pepper and they are the bomb.com. For some reason these fries were missing something and I couldn't figure out what. Fat maybe? Or maybe it was the particular brand. The filling was tasty, but I think I would've preferred po-boy bread because the hoagie was chewier than I would've liked. But then it would've been a po-boy and not a Philly cheesesteak. Compared to Subway, the combo was a great deal.Service was fast, but the cashier/owner (I'm assuming) was kind of dry and could have been friendlier.

We were sitting at Second Line Brewing talking about where we wanted to go eat. And the truck rolled up. We decided to give them a try which meant we didn't have to leave Second Line. My wife and I split the gyro combo. The gyro was good and the fries were nicely seasoned (not real heavy). The couple with us bought the Philly cheese steak combo. They finished that pretty quick. The food was good and it definitely beat getting in the truck and driving somewhere.

Today, my coworkers convinced me to go down and visit the food trucks that park in front of our building. I'd never been to a food truck before and figured it would be fun to try. When I saw a philly cheesesteak on the menu at Horus EatDat, I hopped in line. A philly is my 2nd favorite sandwich. There was some issue with the person ahead of me and her card, so that took a minute, but I was finally able to place my order and stood, in the hot almost noon-day sun with my coworkers to wait for my food. Ten minutes went by, everyone ahead of me had their food, including my coworkers who'd ordered from other trucks, and so we waited. When my number was finally called, I got to the window to find them still putting my order together and had to wait more. We got down to the trucks at 11:45. It was 12:15 when I was finally back upstairs in my office and able to eat. We had planned to eat together, but my coworkers ate their lunch while they waited with me. And, in the end, my meal was kind of disappointing. The filling was pretty skimpy with hardly any onions and peppers - I really only tasted the veggies in maybe 2 bites - everything was lacking seasoning overall, and the 9" loaf wasn't cut in half as is the norm.All-in-all, my first food truck experience, and my experience with this particular food truck was a long, sweaty disappointment.

Just signed up for yelp to review Horus' food truck. We ordered fries with cheese at the window then the worker started eating. My friend and I watched him open ketchup packets with his mouth to eat his fries, then once he was done he licked all ten of his fingers. Then he plated our fries. Then he squirted cheese sauce from a squeeze bottle over the fries. When I tell you this cheese tasted like VOMIT. The cheese tasted like stomach acid and bile. It's like there's mold growing in the squeeze bottle because it's never been washed. It made my tummy hurt. We wasted money. I got sick at the taste.

I just got the gyro wrap combo (wrap, fries, cold canned soda or bottle of water) and for the price, and amount of food, I'm stoked. I'll be visiting these guys more often now that I know they're good. I noticed this place had a line (albeit quick moving!) while the truck next to it didn't have anybody ordering. Probably a good sign!
