My husband and I are going on a cruise at New Orleans port so I saw this place at reasonable priceIt is a little old and dollops like its pictures but the price was right for a one night stay. The staff is very friendly and helpful yt there's no parking except on Martin Luther King which is around the corner It was nice for what we needed it for but needs some updates

Spoiler alert: Gonna go against many of the reviews posted here. This is one of those times when I'd like to gush over-the-top superlatives about my experience at this place. The Historic Streetcar Inn (HSI) deserves every single one of them I can dish out. While it's easy to spend hundreds of dollars a night for hotel rooms in New Orleans (and I have), it's not so easy to find value-priced accommodations that are comfortable and ideally located. The HSI is on St. Charles Avenue, the main drag from "downtown" (the CBD / French Quarter) up and through the fabled Garden District. HSI is close enough in you can walk to the Quarter, should you choose, but why not take one of the legendary New Orleans streetcars - they stop right outside the hotel's door! The Inn is made up of multiple victorian age homes divided up into hotel rooms.Check-in just takes a minute after you're let in the secured front door. I was in Room 11, and it was on the large side with full bath and close to the front door. Walk down the end of the hallway and there is always fresh hot premium brand coffee (Abita Roasting) and iced lemon water. There are both snack and soda vending machines. There are half a dozen eateries within spitting distance of the front door, some open very late. There is a Walgreens two blocks up the avenue if you've forgotten toiletries or need some light grocery items for your room.Bed was very soft, everything in the room worked, the lamps have plug-ins for your chargers, one had other types of plug-ins. Free wi-fi, or course. All the help I interacted with were cordial and helpful, tho I didn't have that many questions since I previously lived in the city.Kudos to Edwin for the fast, efficient checkout.Did I mention the price? Except for holidays and festival weeks, it seems it'll run you about $50 weeknights, and double that weekends. Well worth it.

You get what you pay for here. It's a great location and insanely cheap, but the walls are thin and there are stains everywhere. If you bring some ear plugs and a pillow case, it's worth the price.

I love NOLA, but would never visit again if I had to stay at the Historic Street Car Inn. First, there is rarely an attendant at the desk, and there has to be to gain entrance. Or you can go through the gate around the side, which you are told to leave open. This means anyone off the street can enter. Our room was the first room from this back entrance, with a door so warped, a stiff wind could kick it in. The staff is friendly, but when asked to have something done it will not be. For instance, we had multiple stains and multiple hairs all over sheets. The bathroom had small curly hairs all over the bathtub and hairs hanging from the towels, which had holes in them too. The lotion that was given to guests was already used, and there was a fist hole in the wall upon first entering the room. This morning we asked for new sheets and for the hairs to be cleaned. We were told it would be done. When coming back to our room, service has been done because the bed was made, but it was the same sheets, and same hairs all over the bathroom. I wouldn't stay here, even if the price was $10.

The picture is the bed in the second room we were shown. The first room did not have any working lights, very humid(even though the temp was about 60 degrees) and the wood floor was very spongy. We were shown a third room and the sheets were stained but probably cleaned stains. We were told that we were given these rooms because we booked through Hotwire and the hotel doesn't get a normal rate. Manager offered no apology for the state of the rooms. The manager would not refund our prepaid fee and would not release it to Hotwire. It's been two months and Hotwire will not refund. Other that that probably a great place to stay.

This place is right along the Garden District. Truly a historical Inn. The building is a marvel, you get a sense of what the simple travel pleasures must of been like back in the hay-day! The rooms are simple. Good enough for a good nights rest. The lounge has vintage furniture to enjoy and there's a nice little courtyard to enjoy on a cool evening. The Historical Streetcar Inn provides a continental breakfast to get you going in the morning. If your looking for a pillow to rest your head on to recharge your batteries for the night; The Historical Streetcar Inn is an affordable place to do just that. Cozy, no major frills and to the point!

"FIRE EDWIN!!On fat Tuesday (25 February (my birthday)), at about 6:30, we woke up to music BLASTING, throughout the hotel grounds. It didn't bug us, as we assumed it was normal behavior during Mardis Gras. Around 12:00, we set up on the front porch of our hotel, and watched the parade. Also, enjoying the patio was the hotel concierge/receptionist, Edwin who was blasting the music and partying. Edwin was clearly VERY drunk. He kept leaving the hotel to enjoy the parade throughout the day (leaving the Hotel unattended). He was social with us, but was very rude to people passing by. At one point, a couple stopped by and asked to use the bathroom. He asked them if they had beer, when they said they did not have beer, he told them "then no, you can't use the bathroom". We socialized with him a little bit, but he was "uncomfortably" drunk. He was physically stumbling and slurring his words. It kind of sucked that the music was so loud because I couldn't hear the music from the parade. I couldn't even here my boyfriend talking who was sitting 2-3 feet away from me. My boyfriend went in and simply asked Edwin to turn down the music (without any explanation to his request). Edwin said no problem and turned it down right then. However, it did not seem to make a difference. We could still barely here each other or the parade. About 15 minutes later, I went in and asked him "Do you mind turning down the music, I'd really like to experience the parade and hear the music they're playing". He replied saying "actually I do mind, if you want to hear the music you can f#$%ing leave and go up to the parade". He was very aggressive with his words and demeanor, and I didn't understand much else after that but he continued to yell at me. He had someone with him at the time that appeared to be his friend. The friend was apologizing to me for his response and behavior, while holding Edwin back. I was shocked by Edwin's response (and a little scared) and immediately went outside. My boyfriend noticed I was upset, and asked what happened. I started to cry and told my boyfriend what had happened. Edwin came outside, and my boyfriend confronted him, stating "you don't need to talk to her like that". Edwin reacted hostilely and started screaming at my boyfriend, pushing him, and poking him. Edwin's friend stood in the middle of them while holding Edwin back. I got up and stood in the middle, too, and tried to block Edwin's attempts to poke and push my boyfriend. Edwin's friend was trying to deescalate the situation and calmly spoke to me, telling me not to engage with Edwin and how sorry he was. Edwin started to threaten to call the cops if we didn't leave the property. I kept trying to explain that we can't just leave all of our stuff in the hotel room. He didn't care and told us he was going to call the cops and to get off "his f&*$ing property". My boyfriend and I decided to go to our room, calm down, and call the hotel's company headquarters "French Quarter's Collection". I called the headquarters, and told them that their receptionist physically assaulted my boyfriend. They told us to find another employee and request help. Unfortunately, Edwin was the only one working there that day. They said there was nothing they could do to help us, except "take note of it", because there is no other employees on site. I asked if they could send Edwin home and bring in someone else, and they were not able to because it was "Mardi Gras".It's a shame they have Edwin as an employee working there, and I hope that this review gets back to the French Quarter Collection, and they make some changes going forward. I would love to stay there again, only if I know that Edwin is no longer an employee there. Also, looking back I wish I would have called the cops and reported it, because after look at the reviews, this doesn't appear to be the first time. Hopefully it's the last!"

The room and bathroom was clean. However, our room was closest to the street and we could hear EVERYTHING all night. From the cars/trains to every single guest who came into the inn. It was so noisy. In addition, the air conditioning did not work.

Very clean, safe location. Check in and checkout were complete contactless and simple. It was relatively quiet except that you could easily hear other guests showing and flushing the toilets. Also, our room, which was a deluxe queen, was very small and had NO WINDOWS. It was not at all like any of the pictures. The air conditioner blew directly on the bed and the motion sensor bathroom fan was extremely noisy. I was very excited to stay at this quaint inn but sadly I will not return.
