I had a wonderful experience with Heirloom Furnishings. Lovely selection for fair prices and the owner couldn't have been more helpful! I will be returning when I visit New Orleans again.

I'm completely shocked over the negative reviews of this place. I stopped into today for the first time and I was very impressed by their selection of antiques and art. The prices were even more impressive and their 50% sale section was filled with more quality antiques. They had numerous Persian rugs for sale in all various sizes as well. This shop (and Renaissance in Metairie) are my go-to places in the city. I've been to Dops, Corner House Collections, Merchant House, Consign Consign, and Secondline - but Heirloom is by far superior to those, price and selection wise. Also, the lady who helped me with my purchases was very kind and attentive. I bought an oil painting that had been for sale since January and she offered me a deal for 50% off the original price. She even asked to see a picture of it once it was hung on my wall. I will definitely be frequenting this shop.

Worst shopping experience in New Orleans ever! The owner is rude and condescending! Had to bring our own materials to wrap the two mirrors we purchased while she and two men watched us wrap and load! Will never go back or recommend to anyone! Go to Renaissance Interiors for all antique/import purchases! Much nicer staff and owners! Don't shop here!!

There is okay furniture and okay (not great) deals to be had. If you can handle the Arrogance oozing from the women who works the shop and the sharp, shrill barking of two dogs...... Overly Condescending attitude for a store that sells used furniture. Store lost us as customers based on owner/employee attitude and customer service Renaissance in Metairie is superior, all around.

A stunning array of vintage/antique furniture, pillows, knick knacks and art! I just stopped in for the first time yesterday to see if there might possibly be a couch that I adored and could afford (a rare thing, unfortunately. Damn my expensive taste!) I thought I'd just take a minute while my friend (wo)manned the Uhaul but of course I found myself lost in the loveliness. I set my eyes on my new couch immediately and was amazed by the price tag. Still, I couldn't help myself but keep looking around, taking in all the fabulosity. I wish I knew more about antiques so I could tell you that yes, they have Queen Anne chairs (this much, I know), but I could also tell you about the carved wooden bed, or the elaborate fainting couch or the rose velvet lounge that I plan on going back and getting if it's still there (they do layaway, if you don't want to take the risk). The best part? Turns out the couch I had picked due to its almost perfect condition was also on sale for 20% off! Staff is incredibly nice and helpful, too. Looking forward to returning and updating this review!

*This is a review of the consignment part of the store*With all of the stuff we had to clear and get rid of during a recent "clean out" we knew that trying to sell things on our own wouldn't be out only option. After doing some research, Heirloom Furnishings seemed like a good place to sell some things that we had no need for.I personally sold jewelry here. The owner went through every piece and picked out what she thought would sell, priced it and before I knew it it had been sold and she had a check for me. While some pieces took a few months to sell, others sold pretty quickly and I was pleased with the way that she decided to price things. Of course, because it's consignment, the owner does take a percentage, but it's a small price to pay considering it would take longer for you to sell the stuff on your own.

Sellers Beware - I endured a series of terrible experiences with the owner and cannot recommend this establishment. Sellers bear responsibility for confirming the eventual purchase of their items and then collecting payment; the owner will not inform you when your item is sold. This is not unreasonable, but the owner twice told me that this is her policy because she "can't possibly keep up with all the vendors." As a business owner, it was a worrisome confession. It doesn't seem unreasonable to expect a basic practice of accounts payable. Further, it would seem to be in her best interest to cultivate relationships with her suppliers, which might encourage their return with additional merchandise to sell. Unfortunately, I was left with the impression that her business model is based on the hope that sellers will not claim their earnings after a sale. This feeling was reinforced by my continued experience with Heirloom.Early in 2022 I presented three items for sale. The first, a collection of eight small framed antique prints, was left by the owner on the floor propped against a wall. I visited the shop twice more in the first month and can verify that the prints were never properly displayed much less moved from where placed upon delivery to the store. It felt to me as though the owner had either forgotten them or was waiting for them to discount before displaying them appropriately, so I removed them from sale. The other two items were matching bed frames. The first bed frame sold quickly and the owner of Heirloom offered to mail my payment, but I never received it. She issued a second check as payment which I collected in person, but she deducted a replacement fee for cancelling the first check which I am not confident was ever really mailed to me.The second bed frame sold months later, by which time I had grown tired of visiting the shop and being treated rudely. I was aware that it was my responsibility to check in, but I dreaded the interaction enough that I postponed the visit for 7 months. When I did return again to find the bed frame sold, the owner produced the promised check for payment but did not mention that once deposited, it would be returned by my bank as "Account Closed - The account that the check is drawn on is closed." Upon inspection after its return, I see that the check is printed with "Not Valid After 6 Months." Her failure to mention it when personally handing me a worthless check for my property feels now carelessly deceitful at best and purposely malicious at worst. Her comment when handing me the check was an ungracious "Well, this has been here awhile." Clearly familiar with her own policies, she would have known that the check would be worthless to me, but she failed to make any mention. The check's return after my attempt to deposit it was the final insult, reminding me of all the unsettling interactions I suffered with Heirloom's owner over the course of the year.My experience with Heirloom, taken in total and reviewed in detail, was unprofessional and deeply unsatisfying. I would recommend any potential seller to shop other consignment stores for a fair comparison of policy and culture before contracting with Heirloom. I have since done so myself and have had excellent experiences with another local consignment store. I concede that my experience with Heirloom and its owner was only my own, as are my feelings and my impressions of the treatment I received.

This is one of those - "I've been gonig here for years, and I haven't reviewed it?!" places. I really love this store and the owners are so friendly and willing to chat, like many in this city. The inventory is always different when I go in, and if something doesn't sell, then they do a percent reduction of the price. They have everything from new and old jewelry to furniture. One artist (Jean Marc Clouet) paints from photographs and then sends his finished work from Europe. You can even have your own photo sent to him, and they're pretty reasonably priced for all that. See their website under "Original Art" for the pricing and estimated shipping information.Whether it's new or old, dishes, artwork, or furniture you're looking for, you can be green and reuse a great piece in your place instead of buying new mass-produced items that look like what everybody else has anyways.

If you want to pay more for something that is used than new check this place out.. Keep in mind you will be paying St. Charles Avenue real estate store prices with the ridiculously overpriced items here.... Not to mention the owner places notes on nearby cars parking ON THE STREET in public spots for people not visiting her store to complain about using her parking.. unbelievable..
