Hammond French Market

Traveling and found this little seafood market. We bought some spices and seafood gumbo. The gumbo was delicious with shrimp and small whole crabs! Friendly staff! Very clean establishment. Wish I had room to bring back beautiful big blue crabs.

Freshest seafood in area. 12 different types fish, Shrimp all sizes (in season) Osyter house, have fresh opened Osyters Daily. Business established in 1932.... Still family owned third generation now. Y'all Come!

Love, love, love the fresh seafood from the French Market. This little store is nestled in downtown Hammond and has not changed in decades, but has the best fresh seafood. The fresh oysters were shucked in a half-gallon tub the morning we arrived and mad the BEST fried oysters ever. The boiled blue crabs was perfectly spiced and very full.

The staff at the French Market was super friendly and helpful. The prices were great. They are one of the few fresh seafood markets open on Mondays. I was traveling from Lousiana to Illinois and wanted to bring fresh seafood home. They went above and beyond helping with my selections, packing my coolers, getting them iced down, and loading the car.
