Habana Outpost: Where Gas Meets Class (and Great Grub)Tucked into an old converted gas station on the edge of the French Quarter, Habana Outpost is serving up food, drinks, and vibes that are a little bit retro, a little bit festive, and a whole lot of fabulous. I'd been meaning to try this spot for a while, so when me and two friends found ourselves needing fuel before a Super Bowl weekend adventure in the Quarter, we pulled in, engines revving for shrimp and sips.Let's start with the atmosphere--it's adorable in the way that says, "Stay a while, we won't judge you for having three margaritas before noon." There are plenty of picnic tables outside, perfect for basking in the Louisiana sunshine. And the cherry on top? A play area for both kids and pets, complete with a water feature that squirts up from the ground. Who knew dining could feel like a day at the splash pad?The staff--one cheerful guy and a charming girl--were just as warm as the setting, ready to dish out recommendations like they'd personally tried everything on the menu (and maybe they had, lucky them). After some deliberation (and drooling), I went for the grilled shrimp nachos, and let me tell you--chef's k-- Nope, nope...not using that over used phrase. But you get the idea. They were phenomenal. The shrimp were perfectly seasoned, plump, and juicy, with that delicate "just kissed by the grill" texture. None of that rubbery nonsense here. They sat proudly atop a bed of freshly made tortilla chips, layered with gooey goodness and flavor bombs in every bite. And at $12, the price was more than reasonable. Honestly, they could've brought me a wheelbarrow of those nachos, and I'd still be scraping the bottom for crumbs. Now, about the spicy Mezcal margarita. You know I love a good Mezcal moment, and this one did not disappoint. Smoky, spicy, and packing a punch, it was everything I wanted and more. The Tajin-coated rim was the stuff of dreams, and yes, I shamelessly licked that rim clean. No judgment here, right? But for $12 at a counter-service spot, I'll admit it stung a little. Next time, I'm timing my visit for happy hour and doubling my pleasure with those buy one, get one free drinks--because that's a deal even my margarita-loving heart can't ignore. The happy hour, running M-F from 4 to 7 PM, offers buy one, get one free drinks--a deal so good it might as well come with a warning label. And if you're into Taco Tuesdays, this is your spot--tacos are $2 off, and that's the kind of math I can get behind.Final verdict? Habana Outpost isn't just a pit stop--it's a destination. I'm already planning my next trip back, margarita glass in hand. So if you see me posted up by the water feature, maybe tossing shrimp to my pups, mind your business--or better yet, join me. This place is too good to enjoy alone.

We were here for the Banksy. Which is inside and unfortunately behind a chain link fence. We stayed for lunch and it was fine. The Cubano was a different version void of pickles and Chipotle mayo added. It was cool to try a unique version and it was good. The house made salsa was fresh but a little bland,I liked the Al Pastor taco a lot but the others i was with said their food was a bit boring too.All in all a decent lunch and a view of an iconic street artists work.

OMG that a gem this restaurant is! After our original plan didn't work out we discovered this location. They offer vegan options which is a must for me.There's seating outside and inside, plenty of street parking nearby. Order at the counter and the workers were friendly. It was giving beach town vibes and it was definitely a different atmosphere. The vegan elote was delicious! First time trying it out at a location. The vegan taco was great, just thought the price was too high. The lemonade was sweet and sour and perfect! There's an outdoor splash pad for the kiddos which I thought was adorable! Highly recommend this restaurant! And I will definitely stop by again!

This one of them spots that need to be in Magazine or something. I wish I would've wrote this review right after to get the full intensity down but here goes nothing. It's on the corner. Nice size spot. Indoor and outdoor seating. Ask about the specials. I went for one of the frozen daiquiris. $10. Mixed the Pina Colada with one of the others. They all Top shelf. Staff great. Food smacking. Like everything. Not one thing being okay. No everything was great that we ordered. One of the few spots I'm repeating when I come back

The food was delicious . I had the roast pork taco which was marinated pork, which was a lot in the taco , came with cilantro , onions & homemade salsa verde on a soft corn tortilla. I also had the beer-battered catfish taco with pico de gallo, cilantro and homemade salsa verde was very good. We also tried the roast pork nachos which was also delicious. The only complaint was the initial ordering of the food took awhile. There was one person taking the orders and making the drinks like they definitely need two people in the front area. Thankfully the food did come out really fast. We actually waited in line longer to order food than to receive our food. Vibe was nice, drinks were good . Parking of course is hit or miss in front of the restaurant but not a surprise bc of where it's located. All in all we will be back.

I needed dinner on the run, so I dropped into this place for the first time. I was exhausted so I took a seat at the bar, where I was served a frosty frozen mojito and the staff took my order of two al pastor pork tacos and queso. The food came out quickly. The chips were fresh and warm. The queso was rich and creamy. I'd have liked smaller chunks of pineapple in the salsa on the pork tacos. But, the seasoning was perfect and protein portion was filling. I'm intrigued by the "table-to-farm" concept and I want to go back to check out the place a little more. There were frogs and terrariums. And dog treats!

I keep willing this place to be better than it is, because it's four blocks from home. Atmosphere is great. Service is okay. Some of the food is pretty good. The chips, salsa, guacamole and queso are decent. The elote is very good. Dare I say the best thing on the menu? But the tacos... yes, the tacos, which should be the star of the show, are just lacking. Lacking flavor. Lacking originality. Lacking creativity. The margaritas are okay, but honestly, the Taco Tuesday $4 margaritas around the corner at Cosimo's are better, as is the food.

We came here after driving by and seeing how cute the patio looked. You order at the window and the server was so friendly. The passion fruit margarita was addicting. Happy hour they're only 5 dollars which is great. The tacos were mediocre honestly. But the corn was so yummy!! The patio also has a water sprinkler if you want to bring your kids.

Queso is always great, tacos are good, the Cuban was okay, The corn is great! Honestly out of everything I've had the Cuban is the only thing I haven't really been a fan of. Could have been an off day. But check your orders if you get them to go, they forget things a lot.
