This was the first place I ever tried out chicken in the south and am so glad it was Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken! The service was spectacular and the food was even better. I had the opportunity to come here as a +1 for dinner. I ordered the two piece dark chicken (thigh and leg) plate and it was so good! The food came out piping hot, juicy inside, and the crust was thin and crispy but in the best way possible with a slight kick. I substituted coleslaw and beans with mac & cheese and seasoned fries for an extra $0.50 cents upcharge for each and it was so worth it. The mac & cheese reminded me of KFC/Velveeta boxed mac but cheesier. I grew up eating this so it was a nostalgic moment in time for me. The fries were really good too as there was a nice crunch on the outside and the potato was still pillowy soft on the inside. We washed our food down with Gus's sweetened tea which was overly sweet but too hard to pass up and not have with our meal. We ended the night with a sweet potato pie slice to share. It came out toasty and had warm notes of nutmeg and cinnamon with a hint of sweetness (kind of like a sweet potato casserole before the marshmallows are cooked on top). The restaurant was spacious and had quite a few tables inside to accommodate multiple parties. I would definitely come back here and recommend if you're looking to get your fried chicken and sweet potato pie fix, Gus's is the place.

Omg, I hadn't posted this review. It was written in November 2023.1st timer here. I'll give it 5 stars cuz I had nothing to complain about or to get disgusted at.Despite waiting online outside on a rainy Monday evening for 15 mins, the line moved and we got seated at a tabThe chicken is delicious. Even its iced teas perfection. The cheese grits are light on the cheese.

From the moment I walked in, I was greeted warmly and chose to sit at the bar. The server was excellent and offered several top recommendations. The ambiance was inviting, making me feel comfortable throughout my visit. I would rate the food 4 out of 5; however, I wasn't particularly fond of the greens, but that's just a matter of personal taste. If you have an event at the convention center, I highly recommend this Gus's.

4.5! Was visiting NOLA for a conference and stopped by. Truly the best fried chicken I've had. I got the 2 piece white meat plate with the a side of beans, slaw & Mac and cheese. Price was amazing for so much food. The chicken was seasoned perfectly, slaw was good, and the beans. Mac & cheese was meh. Wouldn't get it again honestly. I also came in a group of 3, and the food took upwards of 40 min to get. Definitely wasn't expecting that so was a bit bummed. But AJ was amazing about it and the sweetest!! So shoutout to him and his impeccable service. Def recommend though stopping by for the chicken, and be prepared that it could take some time to get!

Don't know about world famous but it's pretty fucking good fried chicken. Seasoning has depth and a warm, lingering spice that enchanted this grease-fingered chicken goblin.Coleslaw and baked beans were delightful and worth adding on for sure.Service was friendly and quick. It's not all cooked to order so the drummies I got were room temp, but thighs were hot AF and subsequently delightful if a tad dangerous.Nice location. Clean and convenient with ample seating.

Some of our good friends were visiting us from out of town & recommended us coming here for lunch as it's one of their favorite places. The place opens at 11am and we were one of the first parties there. By noon, it was a lot of traffic yet it quieted down by the time we finished visiting so it's nice to see its pretty prompt experience even on a busy holiday morning. The waitress was really helpful to us first timers & said Gus is actually founded in Memphis and in other states (like California & Louisiana)! We shared a 20 piece among the 4 of us and still had leftovers to take home! The chicken, the sides, are all delicious and freshly made with each order. Check it out if you haven't yet!

Definitely a must try in New Orleans, such a good place for fried chicken. The place is big and had a lot of space for seating! Parking is limited but street parking is available.

For the love of God... this place was delicious. Ah-maz-ing! No tap beer, but that's fine. Started with friend green tomatoes (no pic- ate too fast). Split a 3 piece plate with upgraded sides. And a sweet potato pie. Service was excellent! So kind and welcoming.
