Great Egret
This is actually called a park. I don't get it.
Why is the grass this high?..not safe
Step outside, quiet park with a nature trail on the Westbank.
Ummmm what is this? There are no trails to run on?
I dont know what this is?
...not child safe

I saw pictures of his place and it looks like there was a body of water and maybe some nice natural settings... Not! Lots of trash lots of nothing other than a field with nothing in it. Finally found a small body of water... Again, lots of trash and construction going on that is just very unappealing to look at.Looks like they play sports on this land occasionally maybe? I don't know, it was just a big big disappointment.

This park has a cute playground with the soft padding under the play area. It was a typical intermittent rain summer day and the littles were revolting. I took a chance in hopes that the playground would not be muddy. It was not! Despite the rain 30 minutes before the slides and tunnels were fit for playing. One of the littles took a tumble and hard fall. After a few minutes of shock crying he declared he was good and ran to play some more. There are plenty of trees for shade and there are washrooms. We didn't use them but the littles were able to expend energy to support afternoon nap time.

I hate to give one of the few parks/green spaces in this area a paltry three stars, bit I feel like it's deserved. This park is plagued with a few issues: not the least of it is there really isn't much going on here and there isn't much to look at. The grass is frequently overgrown, drainage isn't great, it's a mess after it rains, people litter and it isn't picked up regularly, and sometimes the place can be a bit of a mess. One of the few things this park has going for it is there are a few nice cypress trees and there is a lot of space. I used to come here frequently when I was a kid and fly my kite and it was perfect for that because there is room to run.I have never been to the observatory, but I do think that that's a cool addition and I wouldn't mind checking that out.

My daughter and I went to the Gretna City Park observatory last night. We really didn't know what to expect. The observatory is very small, but very accommodating to the people who showed up.It's open Mondays and Wednesdays, and from my understanding they will also host special viewings. The Observatory, Building & telescope is operated by a volunteer who is very knowledgeable, very friendly. When we got there around 8:45 p.m. there were six people, including the operator. When we left, they were probably around 10 to 15 people. The gentleman operating the telescope showed us various star clusters and Jupiter. We were only there for about 45 minutes, but will definitely go back. And it is free.

Not sure why this is called a park. One side is a closed and fenced off dock. The other side is an entrance to the pond. Saw some guys fishing but didn't see anything that resembles a park. It's just some open grassland and ponds. Nice to let the kids run around and toss rocks into the water but that's about it.

Very misleading I dont know that other reviewer was talking about. This park has alot more potential.. I gave it 2 stars b/c it does have courts and fields..but thats all..no tracks to run or walk on..thats a problem...and no lights to support seeing when it gets dark if there were a trail. Its the south..I need to see my feet. NO ONE LIKES BEING BIT UNEXPECTEDLY..Get it together

I think this park makes Gretna an even better place to live! There's an onservatory, hiking trail, play area, and lots of wildlife. The waterfalls and great and create a great breeze in between the trails. Def a favorite park for my family and I.
