We enjoy the Golden Wok food. I grew up walking distance from China Town and know good Chinese food. The best part was they were open 365 days a year but this is Louisiana and many restaurants close on Monday. Christmas day was a family tradition going out for Chinese food. They're mainly not Christians and they're packed with diners on X-mas and Eater. The people that run the Golden Wok are the nicest you'll find anywhere. I wish they were closer so I would eat there more often. Thanks, for your kindness and food1

they didn't give me any damn forks, and on top of that the people tryna take ur order can barely speak English so it takes 15 damn minutes to order two things and they still managed to get it wrong. like how the hell am I supposed to eat without a fork!!not satisfied!

If you're from out of state and you're used to Chinese food there, you will likely be disappointed. Pros: Food fresh and prepared with care. Restaurant clean. Service good. All white meat chicken.Cons: Multiple dishes used the same sauce (a pungent garlic & ginger combination - general tso, sesame, and crab rangoon. Combination fried rice tasted like freeze dried shrimp and bland...no "wok fried" taste. Hot and sour soup was neither spicy nor sour. Doughy, partially raw egg rolls.Probably decent for a quick bite. Didn't try other dishes. Adjust your expectations for a very different take on familiar dishes.

I've been searching for a Chinese Restaurant on the Northshore for a long time now and this was one of the place I gave a try due to it high Google review rating. My to-go-to restaurant is Cathay Inn in Metairie but whose going to drive some 40 mins for Chinese food. This place isn't a restaurant in a sense of "restaurant". Basically is a takeout type of thing -- which is fine. But the food isn't that great. It's somewhat on the lines like Panda Express. The family that owns and runs it is VERY nice. If you have an large order, with a high bill. They throw in some drinks, etc. which is very thoughtful of them.

A small family owned Chinese takeout restaurant. The food is consistently good, prices are reasonable, service is reasonably fast (you have to remember this is not a fast food restaurant), and the staff is pleasant. I love their hot and sour soup but all of their dishes are good. This business is very community focused. After hurricane Katrina they opened their restaurant and served the community. Their kitchen runs on natural gas. They were able to open immediately after Katrina passed and that is what they did. I will continue to be a loyal patron. To curtail any waiting you should call your order in. They almost always tell you it will be ready in 20 minutes.

It was a Monday night and I had a major need for some Chinese food. These food cravings come and go and I can only put them off for so long. What to do, what to do? I just want something quick and take out so check locally and Golden Wok is just 5 minutes away. Sounds like a plan.....well it was a plan that went wrong. My order was Crab Rangoon and General Tso's chicken, which came with rice and egg roll.First the Crab Rangoon tasted as if it had been fried the chilled down and heated up in the microwave. You know how bread can often get that super hard, rubber type texture when you micro it too long? That is what the edges of the Crab Rangoon was like. I think I chipped a tooth. While the inside flavor was good, not a lot of crab and more flavor of celery but not overpowering on the cream cheese. The General Tso's was just as disappointing. I don't mind heat as well it's General Tso's so I expect a bit of a zip on my tongue. But I don't expect that zip to have the flavor of black pepper and green pepper. Very odd flavor. I'm not even sure if those were the flavors I was tasting but it's the closest thing I can describe it as. Also no broccoli???? it was placed on a bed of Chinese cabbage, bit strange IMHO.I will say this, my craving for Chinese has been placed on hold until I can find some place that has some decent reviews. Such a let down :(

This is a little Chinese place in a strip mall by PJs. I have only had the shrimp and Chinese vegetables here but I thought that was pretty good. The shrimp were nice and big and fairly plentiful and I thought the sauce was yummy. There were lots of good veggies in it. The fried rice didn't seem like real fried rice (hardly any vegetables or meat in it). The place is sparkling clean and bright and it does have WiFi. It is pretty inviting to sit down and eat in.My advice is, if you are doing take-out and not eating in, go to China City. The food is better there but, if yout want to sit down and eat, eat here.

Just ordered tonight, as an overnight visitor to Covington, and I'm glad I did. The Eggplant with Garlic Sauce is honestly one of the best I've ever had. The Eggplant was perfectly cooked, not mushy, and tha garlic sauce was very flavorful. Also the portion size was extremely generous. Nice!
