This is the real gem of the Julia Street art galleries. Extensive collection of original paintings from multiple artists; most are oil, but I saw some incredible canvases that incorporated colored pencil, acrylic, and even LED lighting. The gallery itself is organized around the theme of Louisiana paintings, but this ranges from beautiful landscapes of swamps, rural areas, and wildlife to New Orleans jazz players and iconic restaurants; from mouth-watering still-lifes of beignets and local treats that look like a Dutch master painted them to Pop Art scenes from Mardi Gras and Jazzfest. Some of the subjects are super specialized that New Orleans locals will recognize, like the Babydolls, Mardi Gras Indians, the Bone Gang, Baron Samedi, Dr. John, or Ignatius Reily. I could go on! The owner is a living treasure. Before she owned the gallery, she taught art history as a university professor, and she is wonderfully warm and generous with her knowledge about the works in her gallery and the history of Louisiana painting! She is extraordinarily kind, and it is always a delight to stop in this exquisitely-curated gallery! The prices here are well below what you'll find in the French Quarter, and the quality is FAR superior. Here you'll get an original work that hasn't been printed/lithographed/repeated a thousand times like the French Quarter galleries do. For high quality original artwork in a friendly and beautiful environment, check out this spot on the corner of Julia and Camp streets!
