I noticed Glenn tends to insult and demean customers who leave him negative reviews on Yelp. It is very disturbing that he takes the time to stalk his reviewers on the internet in order to insult them with specificity. Maybe instead of putting his energy into writing mean comments about his reviewers, Glenn should reflect on why his paying customers had a bad experience.Frankly, the tour wasn't engaging. The guide spent a lot of time talking about his personal adventures and, inexplicably, films and movie stars. He was also was quite patronizing and that made the entire experience very uncomfortable for me and my friends.I'm leaving 3 stars because he did provide a complete tour, but the negativity in his responses is completely uncalled for.EDIT: Unsurprisingly, Glenn left an insulting comment on this review. Glenn, I have reported you to Yelp for violating content policy by harassing and bullying those who leave you honest reviews. Have a good evening.

My sister and I went on the literary tour. Not only did we learn about New Orleans' literary history, but we got a list of authors to check out. Thank you Glenn!

As another reviewer put it, "Taking a tour with Glenn is like visiting an old friend from out of town who passionately wants to show you the uniqueness of his city." This sums up Glenn perfectly. I have been to New Orleans several times now and I always go on one or two tours. While I would say all of the tours have been decent, Glenn's tour was truly THE BEST. We will never forget the time we spent with Glenn. He taught us a little bit of everything on our tour and no matter what it was he was talking about, you could trust it would be completely enthralling. It is also nice because his tours are just him, doing what he loves so you know what you are going to get when you sign up for one of his tours. You do not have to worry about getting some newly-transplanted resident who barely knows how to navigate the city, or someone who is just in it for the paycheck. I cannot recommend his tours enough, and he has a GREAT variety of tour options that you will not find elsewhere (such as the literary tour, or the gay heritage history tour). We plan on returning to New Orleans next year, and we will be booking another tour with Glenn. One tour with him and you, too, will feel like he is an old friend you will want to visit with again and again.

Hi Glenn! You may remember me from our conversation at Antoine's after a recent literary tour during which we discussed the importance of tone and how yours was so off-putting. You remember, you asked for examples of times when your tone was especially arrogant? If I may, sir, please bring your attention to your response to Maddie W.'s review below. Instructing your colleagues, family, and friends around the world to pray for the recovery of a woman who was disappointed in the services you provided is not only patronizing and ill-mannered, it is patently misogynistic. Perhaps it is for your own recovery that you should be soliciting prayers.P.S. Though we were but "members of the general public," the waitstaff at Antoine's was simply lovely and, having heard how disappointed we were in your tour, made sure to provide us with thoughtful highlights of the restaurant's history. I must say that having a view of the wine cellar unobstructed by dirty glass was delightful. Cheers!

Dr. de Villiers tour is by far one of the best experiences I have had during my stay in New Orleans. I booked a private tour of the French Quarter and it was a true delight. You felt like you were walking with your Uncle, who knows all the family gossip and is telling all the family tales, but it's about all the families who have lived in this city for generations. He knows everyone and makes delightful recommendations (thank you Glenn for the restaurant recommendation. Dinner was excellent)BOOK HIS PRIVATE TOURS. THEY ARE WORTH IT. I plan to visit many times in the coming years and my hope is that I will be able to experience all of Dr. de Villiers private tours.

One of the worst tour guides I have ever had. Glen was pompous, impatient, patronizing, and rude. He is billed as a charming historian with debonair flair, but we saw none of that. He provided very little history, either ignored our questions, or gave flippant answers due to his lack of knowledge or disinterest. We received more background history and interesting stories about this glorious city from our uber drivers. Do not - I repeat do not hire him! Enormous disappointment! I'm still angry about it. New Orleans is fascinating, exciting, steeped in history, provocative, entertaining - can I go on? Glenn is so bad you would think he abhors this city. Sad waste of our time and money.
