Seems like a mom & pops lil hole in the wall place, which are my absolute favorites! Lines can be longer than it takes a woman to get ready, but the price is unbeatable!! Order / Pay outside, Cash only. There's a small area to sit down & eat if you wanted to. I'd say about 10-12 tables... if that. Far enough from each other to breathe & get through, yet close enough to know that Steve didn't file income taxes since 2011 and that Judy's son Dennis had to repeat the 8th grade three times close. I got the chicken tender basket & fries, it was pretty good! I believe the individuals with me ordered burgers & they two were very pleased with how everything came out.

My buddies and I played hooky from work to go ride our motorcycles and I, as the designated tour guide for this trip, decided to take us into Picayune to stop for some grub. Now, I've ridden through the 'Yune quite a few times, but if I'm being completely honest, I've never really paid much attention to the old brick building off on the east side of Hwy 11 with the simple, unassuming sign that simply reads "Frostop" in black letters on a white background.Being my first time riding with these two friends (who recently got their motorcycles), the pressure was on me to find a proper roadside diner for our little motorcycling adventure. I only planned as far as the lunch stop, and the only research I did was to make sure they were open. We rode up around 1230 and I was more than a little surprised to see that the parking lot was completely full. Finding a place to park our bikes (in the grass) was easy enough, but going inside to find a table was a bit trickier. As soon as we walked in, we were surprised again to see that every table was full and there were folks standing along the walls waiting for a table and/or waiting for their food. Going to the counter to order from the, once again, surprisingly large menu resulted in one more surprise... they don't accept plastic of any kind. They only accept cash or, get this, check!Who has checks anymore?Moving on, there was no ATM inside, and no ATMs anywhere in clear site outside, so we scrounged up all of our cash and put together enough to get our meals, just as a table big enough for the three of us began to clear out. After a short wait, our numbers were called (by the way- you can't go wrong with a place that calls your order out by number... you can take it to the bank that your food is gonna be good). I got a fried shrimp po-boy, fries and a coke and my buddies got a fish po-boy with fries and a soda and a bbq pork po-boy with onion rings and a soda. I can't speak to the quality of theirs, but mine was just as good as I was expecting it to be. I stand by my previous comment about the correlation of getting a small slip of paper with a number on it and the quality of food at a diner. This combination has had a 100% success rate for me so far. The shrimp was plentiful and fried to perfection, the bun was perfectly crusty on the outside and soft on the inside and the dressing (lettuce, tomatoes and pickles were fresh and tasty. The crinkle cut fries were fried to a perfect golden brown- they were hot, crispy, firm and flavorful. The drink was served in a plain white styrofoam cup and it was cold and carbonated. Nothing we had was gourmet, but it was just exactly what wanted. The price wasn't bad at all, my meal (which filled me up quite nicely) came in at a very reasonable $12. It was pretty obvious that the owners were more focused on providing a good tasting, hearty meal for a reasonable price than they were about making the place look flashy. I like that a LOT. Look, the bottom line is, it's easy to ride, or drive, right past places like this. There are no flashing digital signs or silly commercials to draw you in- just good food at a reasonable price and the reputation of the community that they are in. So, if you find yourself hungry in Picayune, simply follow your nose to the Frostop and get yourself some good food at a good price... just remember to bring your cash (or check) with you!

The best "old school" burger and prices too. A must have while in Picayune. Get the onion rings and milk shake for the full experience. Yum!

I like to find smaller local restaurants as I'm traveling, and I'm glad I stopped here. The burger was really good. The fries were on point and the milkshake was one of the best I've had.Although the food was awesome, the service was even better. The gentleman behind the counter, taking orders talked with me as if we had known each other our entire life. This place had the small town burger joint feel that is so refreshing compared to all those chains out there.
